This cottage has some excellent classic antique features including some yellowwood floors, as well as beamed and planked ceilings. The cottage can comfortably accommodate up to 4 guests and comprises 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, a kitchen, and an open-plan dining and living room. The first bedroom contains an extra-length four-poster king-sized bed, and the second second bedroom contains twin four-poster single beds. The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering and includes a dishwasher.
There is a substantial paved garden area with an outside table and seating arrangement. Parking is available.

Very old-fashioned accommodation.
Everything is beautifully neat and clean. So beautiful all the antique furniture. The street the house is in is so beautiful.
We always enjoy staying at 16 Parsonage Street - De Kothuize (any of these cottages) and would happily recommend it.
We got more than we expected. We will definitely stay in the cottages again.
This is our second time staying here in the unit. Our dog children are safe inside the courtyard. The unit has everything you want and more.
The unit was large and spacious and worked very well with its enclosed courtyard with our two dogs and children. The restuarant across the street that was recommended was excellent and definitely worth it. Thank you very much for a wonderful experience, we will definitely stay there again.
Good location, well furnished, good linen. We struggled with the remote control of the air conditioning. Couldn't get it to work - would have appreciated an instruction card. Nicely restored.

For a start, Parsonage street is a beautifully "manicured" avenue - with every Cottage newly painted with the picture of the Drosdy Hotel at the top and Reinethuis at the bottom. De Kothuize16 was a home with all amenities, enough space, well-equipped kitchen and courtyard! Highly recommended!
Beautiful, clean and tidy house centrally located in the town. We arrived after check-in time and Linda still made an effort to come find us and unlock us.

Very nice overnight stay. Everything in the house to grill and cook yourself, nice courtyard for children, but the restaurant across the road called us.
The accommodation was spotlessly clean. Very spacious bedrooms with very comfortable beds. The living area and kitchen are well equipped and the outside paved area off the lounge/kitchen is a lovely spot for an evening braai/breakfast. Will definitely stay over again. We dined at the local restaurant "Pioneers" which had a vibey atmosphere, lovely waitrons and great food.
It really is a special house. Absolutely value for money.
The location is unbeatable and the cottage beautiful. We traveled by motorbike and parked it at De Kothuize's reception on arrival and only used it again when we vacated the next day. The rest of the time we could walk everywhere we wanted to be. The interior decoration is authentic from the era. Parts still have original yellowwood floors. All the facilities for self-catering accommodation. Two things bothered a little. 1) There is a lack of kitchen shears and 2) some maintenance will have to be taken care of. E.g. the toilet seat should be replaced and detracts from an otherwise beautiful bathroom.
16 Parsonage Street - De Kothuize offers value for money accommodation. The place is beautifully furnished and also offers an outdoor recreation area with braai. Diagonally opposite is the famous Pioneer Restaurant which serves delicious dishes. We will use the accommodation again when we are in Graaff-Reinet.
16 Parsonage Street - De Kothuize is located a stone's throw from Reinethuis. Old-world charm, very neat and convenient walking distance from all kinds of attractions. There is a cute restaurant, The Pioneer, across the street.
This little cottage surpassed our expectations. Very tastefully decorated, clean and extremely comfortable. A special experience to stay in such a historic home with a very central location in the historic part of Graaff-Reinet. Staff are excellent and run De Kothuize like a well-oiled machine. We would love to stay there again.
Beautiful, historic town, but like anywhere in South Africa these days you have to pay extra attention to personal security and feel that you have to be on your guard all the time when you walk alone through the beautiful streets.
Many thanks to Linda and Ina for the way we were received. The service overall is five-star. We simply stayed an extra night.

Graaff-Reinet has a lot to offer. If you have time stay for a few days. De Kothuize is an excellent choice.

Staff friendly and helpful. It was our first visit to De Kothuize, and what a pleasant surprise! The ice maker in the heat was a winner as was the air conditioning, and we got to watch the cricket! Everything was sparkling clean, comfortable and spacious. The free bundle of wood was much appreciated. Nothing is spared to make your self-catering accommodation as comfortable as possible. Will definitely stay here again.

So beautiful, felt like I went back in time! Als was perfect and clean! Just a pity our time was so short!
If it wasn't for the fact that they happened to be cleaning our unit, we would probably still be standing in front of the closed office door waiting. The next day when we wanted to go and finish paying, no one was there either. This really detracts from De Kothuize and creates a very unfriendly impression.
