The entire house has a comfortable rustic feel with an indoor fireplace, and the kitchen is equipped with a fridge with a freezer, a microwave and a two-plate stove with a small oven, a kettle as well as crockery and cutlery. The lounge has neat, wooden chairs, and leads out onto a deck, where one can enjoy sundowners.
A Log Home At Buffalo Creek also has 2 braai options which include a fire pit and an undercover braai area on the stoep. A wood-fired hot tub is available but guests must supply their own wood.
We do have neighbours approximately 50m away.
Within a short walk away you will find various water sports at Umshanti, such as boat cruises, and canoeing. These sports are not part of the home but can be arranged at an additional cost.

We had a great stay at A Log Home At Buffalo Creek. The place was clean and tidy and all the amenities we needed were in place. Kat was also an excellent hostess. She sent us the load shedding schedules and also let us know about the events in town such as the market that we then decided to experience. Can definitely recommend this stay.

Nice family getaway. Peaceful and child-friendly. Unfortunately, it was raining during our stay and most things were closed.
We loved our weekend stay at the cabin. Cabin was cosy and had everything we needed and more. The atmosphere was quiet and tranquil - just what you need to forget about the city buzz. Loved the fact that provisions were made for loadshedding. Gas available to cook with when needed and rechargeable lights. The owner, Kathryn, even check in with us to make sure we all good - just shows you that she values and cares about her guests. A definite must see and must stay.
Just wanted to maybe have some towels, we did not realise we had to take our own but that is small fry and I obviously did not read through all the stuff I needed to, so my bad, but all and all, absolutely lovely.
Very nice stay. Environment very beautiful and peaceful. Was very nice to wake up in the morning with the sound of birds chirping. Something to think about is making the parking area more secure. The wind was blowing and it was raining and we didn't want to park under trees. As a result, with 2 cars we experienced problems with getting stuck. Fortunately, the insurance was soon there.
It was perfect for our one-night stopover, well equipped, the gas plate was a win during loadshedding.

It was very nice and peaceful. Wish I could stay longer. Kat was also very friendly and considerate. Load shedding just doesn't give the Jacuzzi enough of a chance.
It was quiet and relaxing I could sit outdoors at 5 am and just enjoy the sound of nature.

The Jacuzzi is lovely - even with a cold wind it was still enjoyed. The log cabin is fully furnished and will definitely see us again for a longer visit.
The place is very well appointed. The jacuzzi is a huge bonus! We spent most of our time on the lovely patio.
Just one or two things. There were no towels, not even hand towels at the sinks to just dry your hands. The Jacuzzi's temperature was also preset and you cannot change it. Water was so cold that night we couldn't have enjoyed the Jacuzzi.

Attentive yet unobtrusive host. The log home was just beautiful with everything you could wish for. It is a perfect peace of paradise to just relax and unwind. We broke a business trip up and could still work because it has excellent WiFi connection. If you have children, there is space for the to run and things for them to do right on the doorstep of the log home. We had an amazing stay. Thank you so very much.
What an amazing experience. Kat, the owner, is so attentive although they don't live on the property, regularly checking in via WhatsApp to see if we were okay and if we needed anything. We had no need for anything as the place is so well equipped with everything we needed. On our first night we had loadshedding, and for the first time ever we enjoyed the darkness as we sat around the firepit with wine in hand and being able to see the Milky Way and its many stars in the night sky and just relaxing and taking it all in. The Buffelsjag Dam is a true gem as well. What a scenic place and its just a very short walk away from the cabin! I highly recommend this stunning place! I can't stop raving about this place to my friend and family.
Had a really great time and spent most of our time at the dam. There are also great hiking trails and swimming spots at the falls. Sorry we only spent 2 nights there. Will definitely go back again.

This was our 3rd visit to A Log Home and again lovely.
Owner always kept us informed about loadshedding and made everything as convenient as possible. The house itself had been perfect. Never stayed at a place that was so well equipped with kitchenware, plugs, bedding etc. not. Would definitely want to go back again for a longer period of time.

Cottage contains everything you would need. Close to Swellendam for supplies. Please support the local businesses instead of to drive everything out of the city together. Bought delicious peaches at a quarter of the price in the city, if you could get that quality! I would like to suggest a soft topper on one of the beds as all the mattresses were too hard for me. However, my friend, who is used to a hard mattress, was comfortable. Would like to stay again in March for a week, but will have to hear about the topper first.
A well-equipped home with a lovely relaxation area. All needed information was provided by the owner who made us feel very welcome. Led lights were even provided to be used during loadshedding. We really enjoyed our stay.

A Log Home is great value for money and the view from the house is absolutely stunning. Our stay there was very comfortable, hassle free and very relaxing. We had a lovely stay at A Log Home at Buffalo creek. The highlight of our stay was the beautiful view and endless star gazing at night. The log home has a lovely rustic feel and the kids enjoyed the splash pool and the lush green grass was a rare find. We will definitely recommend this establishment!

The accommodation was clean and tidy. Everything they indicated was there. The environment was nice and it was really peaceful to stay there.
We were seven adults (three couples) plus a dog and the A Log Home At Buffalo Creek was a good size for all of us. The location is peaceful and very quiet, and although the property is on a farm, we saw and heard very little from anyone apart from the occasional car passing. The kitchen was well equipped and there were plenty of extra blankets and pillows for the chilly nights. The host was extremely helpful and responsive with any queries ! Location rated 4/5 as the local dog friendly hike at Umshanti was unfortunately closed due to weather, but the hosts recommended us plenty of (not dog-friendly) activities in the area.
A log home is ideal for our family to meet halfway between the Cape and George.

Upon arrival the accommodation was friendly and welcoming. The surrounding area is neat and clean. The porch with its beautiful view is lovely outside of the traffic. The house is beautiful inside, practical and our bed was very nice. The kitchen is equipped with everything that you need and everything is in a good and working condition. We will definitely like to go back.
Ideal place to relax. Stunning area and very relaxing. The children really enjoyed it. Very friendly, helpful owner. The house has a great layout and is very pretty and neat inside. Really picturesque.
