Convenient and service makes up for car that has to park in the street. No DStv, but we knew that, nice tea and coffee facilities.
It was very nice to stay there. It's quiet, clean, the WiFi is strong and the breakfast is 5 star! Ideal for single travellers or couples, and close to the MyCiti bus stop. All that may be a problem is that the stairs make it less suitable for disabled people, older people or young children.
The slogan at reception reads: Arrive as guests and leave as friends. It absolutely applies.
Well located in quiet area near the waterfront and new stadium. Spacious rooms with clean facilities. Delicious breakfast taken at extra cost. We could help ourselves to coffee and tea. Parking is scarce and on the street. Friendly people and peaceful homey feeling. No DStv.

We immediately felt at home. My daughter, who was staying at a backpackers, was able to enjoy breakfast with us and sometimes visited us for a while before we took her back. Everyone made us feel at ease and at home. The room service was an unexpected treat, which gave us more time to explore the Cape. Even though there was phase 4 load shedding, there were lights when we got home late and the shower water was always hot. Excellent place to stay!
Peter and his staff went out of their way to provide extra customer service. The location is very good, and the accommodation has all the facilities I needed. Will stay there again for sure.

The appearance was neat and clean. One has to park in the street which is unsafe these days. The room has a TV, but you only have access to the channels being watched by the owner/receptionist. The WiFi signal was close to none. Guests are not treated like customers, feels like they are doing you a favour. Breakfast was good.
I’m very pleased with the place. Cleanly with friendly staff members, they offer breakfast and so have a kitchen area if you would like to cook. Only issue I had was instead of double bed they had in our room twin beds pushed together, but otherwise a good place.
The service and the rooms were excellent. The internet was good. The batteries in the remote could maybe be replaced and there aren't a lot of TV channels. Bathroom is top quality. Only downside was probably that my car had to be parked in the road, but there was a friendly guard that looks after all of the cars in the street. He is apparently employed by the neighbourhood owners. I will definitely stay here again.
I will book at Altona Lodge again because it's a nice place to be close to the attractions of Cape Town.

Peter and Wendy are excellent hosts. Their staff extremely competent and helpful. I would have loved to have better hanging space and storage space for luggage and clothes, but yeah, it's an old place and I think they restored it tastefully. Also would have preferred a lounge where you could socialise with other guests. I would however highly recommend this place to friends and acquaintances. They can now brag about the fact that a world record holder athlete stayed at their place!
We found the people of Altona Lodge very friendly and hospitable. Very helpful when we wanted to know something about the Cape and surrounding area. Very nice and a variety of breakfasts they offer at a reasonable price. The fact that we could enjoy coffee/tea throughout the day and that we were allowed to use the kitchen is a big plus.
Acceptable. The place smelt a bit like smoke. I like having the convenience of making my own coffee. Would have appreciated a coffee station in the room.
Altona Lodge has the best hosts that I've encountered in ages. Real value for money. I felt at home and relaxed right from the get-go. The people are so helpful and friendly.

We had a lovely stay there. The people were always friendly and helpful. Neat and quiet and close to the Waterfront. Will definitely book there again.
The lodge is well located near the waterfront and promenade. Spacious rooms with comfortable facilities and clean. Although we didn't take breakfast, it still looked very nice and we were able to help ourselves to coffee. The building is old and needs some renovation. Parking is also a bit scarce and on the street. Furthermore, friendly people and "cozy" feeling.

Altona Lodge is excellent value for money if you want to use it as a base to explore Cape Town and the surrounding area. I'm from Gauteng and therefore felt a bit uncomfortable not having parking behind a locked gate, but that seems to be the norm in Cape Town. The friendliness of Altona's people made up for the slight discomfort and I was soon reassured.
The lodge is good value for money but would be nicer if they acquired cable TV in the rooms. Nice little flatscreens will also be nice. Otherwise it was homely with good noise control.
Peter, Wendy and the rest of the staff were very much approachable. Keep it up!

Sorry for the lack of parking, but very nice stay and very nice breakfast. Nice close to restaurants and Waterfront.
Reception was helpful with parking and carrying luggage. She immediately made us feel at home and showed us where everything we needed was, offered coffee/tea. Was always available when we had questions. The room was very neat and comfortable. Will definitely use it again.

The Lodge was very clean. Was worried at first because we had to share bathrooms but then it was actually very good. Management very helpful and handled many of our transport arrangements. Bathrooms were beautiful and very neat. Room was very comfortable and the white bedding and towels were very stylish. Like a home away from home. The breakfast was value for money and very fresh and very tasty. The friendliness of all the staff was striking. Would definitely recommend Altona Lodge.
Very good accommodation. The front room is excellent and spacious . The parking however is a serious problem.

I really enjoyed my stay. Altona is child friendly and the staff is fabulous. Peter the manager gets 10/10 from me, the cleaning staff needs 8 to just keep up with changing bed sheets. I rate the place 9/10 and would definitely stay there again!

The service I received was excellent, and would definitely recommend Altona Lodge to anybody. In fact, I am already planning another visit to the area later this year, and I am going to book my accommodation at the Lodge once more.
This was really good value for money. Peter, the manager, is a charm and we felt very welcome and were treated like family. The whole group agreed we got a huge bargain for our overnight stay in Cape Town.
