The accommodation comprises self-catering accommodation where you can wake up to the call of the Fish Eagles. Choose from a variety of luxury fully equipped self-catering family cottages, rondavels, timber chalets, and double en-suite units. All our units are fully equipped for self-catering with linen and towels provided. The various units can sleep from two persons up to six persons per unit. Our five timber chalets are situated on the banks of the river and offer you unsurpassed views of the river from timber chalets and riverfront campsites.
On-site guests can fish from your tent on riverfront sites, and park your boat along the jetty directly in front of you. Areena Quays Restaurant and Bar are right on the riverfront for your dining pleasure. Open from Wednesday - Friday 11:00 - 20:00, Saturday from 09:00 and on Sundays, it closes after a delicious buffet lunch.
At an extra cost, our adventure village offers quad bike safari tours, canoe trails, pellet gun target shooting, zip-lining, paintball, archery, and Segway safari tours. You may even get to have a giraffe interaction with our tame giraffe, Abby, who is famous the world over.
Access to the beach is either by boat, river ferry, or a short trip by car.

I got more than my money's worth. It was truly a memorable stay and I would go back again.
Beautiful river view, lots of activities to do, and wildlife viewing from the balcony. Can't go wrong with a visit there!
Nice things to do - quad bikes take you to the most beautiful views and with the Segways you can get very close to the wildlife.
The tranquility of Areena is something that immediately catches your attention. Add to that the animals you can see as you move around the site and you have a winning recipe for tranquility. The place was very well located for us, because our children camped at the neighboring Yellow Sands. The room was very well equipped, although we did not use the self-catering facilities, except for the occasional coffee or tea. Had a lovely veranda at the suite, especially as a morning coffee spot. The cleaning services were regular and we didn't need to ask for anything. The only negative point we can raise is that, when my wife and I went for a walk one afternoon, we wanted to sit on the rest area next to the river (near the restaurant). However, fishermen left the place with quite a stench, which made sitting impossible. However, we had a very nice stay in a very neat and clean suite. One never got the feeling of being "too busy", even though it was fully booked over Christmas and New Year.
We really enjoyed the weekend. It was great to be greeted by peacocks every morning as well as all sorts of other birds, bunnies and goats that were quite tame. One felt so close to nature and could fully relax. We did take advantage of some of the activities available which were great fun, such as the quad biking and the spa. Will definitely go to Areena again and recommend.
We had a problem with reception not believing that we had returned our paddles. Otherwise we enjoyed the resort very much.
Enjoyed the stay, but would have enjoyed a freestanding room/apartment. Braai facilities at the rooms can be upgraded to give it a better atmosphere.
Really very neat and beautiful apartment. Well equipped. Restaurant has the best chicken schnitzel I have ever eaten.

There is a patio with outdoor seating, and a braai stand with a grid. These units are all thatched. One of the Rondavels has a bath the other two have showers. These units are not suitable for very young children as the wooden stairways to the loft rooms are fairly steep.
