87 guests' feedbackThe place smelled delicious when we walked in. Everything was very clean and tidy. Crisp bedding and the bed slept great. Coffee was put out. Had a lovely hot shower with fresh towels. TV with Netflix. We will definitely stay there again. Very good value for money.
Friendly reception and the lady was very helpful. As older persons, we could not use the TV at all, because the directions were unknown to us.

The accommodation was very basic. The kettle's cord does not come with the outlet plug, have to put it on the floor to boil. Would have liked at least a microwave in the room.

It was comfortable, quiet and safe. Would have preferred to have a shelf or two to unpack essentials on. Too basic for a vacation, but perfect for a sleepover after a long day on the road and affordable.
The room was very small for 4 people. A little trouble with WiFi. Power points are limited. If you just wanted to check in and sleep, the place would be ideal. But if you have a good 7 hours behind you and want to relax, this place is not for you.

It was very nice for us to stay at Berry Hill! Everything was so nice neat and clean. Would recommend it for sure. The only thing that needs attention is the door lock, it was very difficult to get it open from the inside.

I can easily recommend Berry Hill. Good, neat, clean accommodation for an overnight stay on the long road between Gauteng and the Cape. The hostess was very pleasant and helpful. She also had no problem with my little Maltese who always rides and sleeps with me.
The room was very neat and clean. Braai facilities outside. Bathroom is wonderfully spacious. The street in front of the guesthouse is very busy.
Place is just basic, fridge was turned off and leaking water when we turned it on, located on main road so lots of traffic noise through the night. Room was covered with ants.

We actually just slept there. For one, the room booked was not given to us. Another room was given. The cutlery sink is actually the bathroom sink, which we feel is not suitable. The hot water tap was loose. Because we stayed at a different guest house when we went down to the Cape, we can say that for the same money we would have preferred to spend the night at the first one. Comparing the 2 fees, we feel more could be done with the accommodation. The bedding was all clean so we can't complain about that. The contact number that was given to us was not answered at first and was not called back either. Then a w upp was sent, and only the next day was it answered. For people on vacation returning home, one is in a tense situation if you do not have contact with your overnight accommodation. There was no contact made from Berry Hill; it just came from our side.
Really comfortable, felt like home away from home. Thank you for giving us the bigger room with a TV. We do appreciate it.

After 9 hours on the road, it was very disappointing. We couldn't get the door open because the handle didn't work. The fridge wasn't cold. Surely, the fridge should be switched on if you know I'm travelling from GP and you know that load shedding will start close to my arrival. Then you would have known that it's out of order. Plugs were an issue. If I didn't have a lead with me, I could not use the fan. Very poor communication from the owner. Load shedding cannot be blamed for poor management of the unit. The garden looks like a building site, and the property is not safe.
Trucks in the street were troublesome at first. Load power phase 6 had an effect on water, pressure and temperature were perfect before our departure. Thanks for emergency lights.
Only a one night stopover heading home from the Cape. Room was recently renovated, very tastefully. Easy access, no issues, would gladly stay again if in Colesberg.

Well located and safe. The road was quite busy, but it didn't bother us. The WiFi reception was weak, but that didn't bother us either. We slept well.
The location of Berry Hill Guesthouse is very easy to locate. Access to the rooms is private.
Compact, but tidy and all the necessary things. However, the bathroom door could not close properly. Parts of the yard and house were under construction for new units, but otherwise there were nice gardens and it looked tidy. At first there was no WiFi, but this was quickly resolved.
Clean and tidy white bedding and towels, good mattress. Thank you. The following was extremely disappointing: Geyser was not turned on in time, we had to shower in cold water. (Mind you, there was no load shedding at all.) Do not use hooks on walls to hang used, damp towels. The bathroom light does not work. The fridge was not switched on - so no ice cubes, and we could not immediately cool our perishables. The power plugs are a fiasco; all the electrical appliances such as the boiler, bedside lamps and fridge cannot work at the same time. Constant plugging in and unplugging was a frustration to operate certain electrical appliances. Even though it was the cheaper room, it didn't even meet basic needs of an overnight facility. A guest house should cater precisely to the needs of weary travellers, which is where Berry Hill Room 2 sadly failed.
Suene confirmed our visit on the afternoon of our booking and was friendly and promptly available upon our arrival. The accommodation is neat and adequately equipped. I can recommend it anytime.
Didn't feel at home right away as the fridge and all the electrical plugs were unplugged (had to move the fridge to get to the plugs). It feels like we arrived there unexpectedly. We did only confirm the booking on the same day due to problems with eft, but don't want to sort out the logistics after hours on the road. This is the responsibility of the host.
Berry Hill Guesthouse is small but was perfect for our overnight stay while traveling from CPT to JHB. I would suggest having more hooks in the bathrooms for hanging towels, etc. and a shelf over the fridge for cups, etc.

We made a few suggestions to the person we shared with and believe that if those few little things were sorted out it would make the place even better.
It was the "attention to detail" that made the difference, hot water bag on teenager's bed, 2 lights instead of 1 for when loadshedding kicks in. I didn't see that the family room was only provided with 2 towels, even though I booked for 4 people. Suene quickly brought me 2 more towels.

We slept very well. The place is very clean and tidy and spacious. It's about 300m from the nearest restaurant. The bathroom is also spacious. Parking is safe.
One of the coffee mugs was not clean - unfortunately there were bits of old milk powder in the bottom. Mats next to the bed will also be welcome.
The only add-on I would suggest would be a microwave and a toaster. We had ample food but would've liked to be able to reheat it. Otherwise, our stay was pleasant.
Apart from Eskom, the accommodation was clean, tidy and the owner was very professional and friendly. Felt right at home, and slept very well. Would definitely recommend it.

The host was very friendly and the bed was comfortable. The shower sprays on the ceiling and walls and we had to remove the shower head to avoid a huge mess. There is no mirror near an electrical plug for drying hair or applying make-up. The kettle is not cordless and must be filled at the bathroom sink. The cottage is right next to a busy road with vehicles and trucks that make noise all night. We booked for 4 people but the table only has 2 chairs and only 2 towels are provided. The accommodation has potential but needs some minor changes to make it comfortable. We suggest that the owner stays there himself to determine what is missing. The phone number given also reached voicemail several times and we were unable to contact the owner.
We were very warmly received, and the accommodation is safe and extremely tidy. There was everything we needed.
Neat and clean and people are friendly, but the 1 bedroom where we stayed at home is very small and cramped, we couldn't fit our bags in the room. There is coffee and sugar, but the powdered milk is bitterly bad and then undrinkable. There is also no soap provided at the sink or shower. There is no microwave and couldn't heat leftover roadside food. Coffee mugs must be washed in the bathroom sink, nothing facilities for a kitchen. Not worth R500.
