The location, ample space and beautiful view that birdsong offers certainly contributed to one of the best annual friends holidays ever. The main house is nice and spacious and had enough space for everyone to relax on their own and stretch their legs, but also have fun together. The smaller Bird's Nest is a brand new, smaller unit that provided exceptional accommodation for one couple. The visiting deck is just the best! It's a cozy area with an exceptional view. Charles, the owner, went out of his way to make sure everything was going well. He is fantastic.
Excellent and very good location. The monkeys are a menace and one cannot leave windows/doors open.
An amazing location, perfect for groups with great spaces to spend together or quiet time when needed. The Grotto trail entrance is only 100m away - do not miss that hike!

The environment is beautiful. The house is fully equipped with everything you might need. Very nice and neatly rounded. The daily maid service was a bonus. There is much to see and do in the area. I would highly recommend the place and would definitely stay there again.

Charles met us and showed and explained everything nicely. He went so far as to help us with my daughter. She had to turn in an assignment before 5 the next morning. He made arrangements with the manager of the Drakensberg Sun for her to work there. The name Birdsong could not have been better chosen. The birdsong was amazing!

View very nice. Just found that some of the furniture and linens in the house were a bit "run down". House inside needs a new coat of paint. Carpets in rooms also need a good wash. Location is very good. Owner and "cleaning lady" very friendly and helpful.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Birdsong Cottage 10. The housekeepers, Janet and Portia were a great help. We can recommend Birdsong Cottage 10 as ideal for a visit to the Berg, but the steep inclines in the garden could hamper families with small children. Unfortunately we have tourists that still feed the vervet monkeys/baboons and they became a nuisance and potentially dangerous as they did no show any fear for children.
We had a lovely stay at Birdsong Cottage No.10. We wanted to stay longer, it is a good place to relax and enjoy the view. Rosie the lady that cleaned was very nice. We will be coming back soon.
It is a lovely house in the mountains with peace and quiet to enjoy. There were a few items missing in the house like a table cloth, ice trays and cloths. Other than that the place is nicely equipped and a lovely clean house. All in all, we had a great stay. Thanks.

Newly married, my wife and I walked in here and she immediately loved me even more! The photos cannot capture the tranquility, privacy and natural beauty! The modern finishes inside and a dishwasher were the icing on the cake. Come here if you want to get away, private and alone, and enjoy nature and stars!

It was the most comfortable self-catering accommodation I have experienced to date. From the SMEG oven, all kitchen equipment that controls your heart to the good quality bed linen. The view was dreamlike. Mountains all around with incredible sunrise. Fantastic stay. Couldn't have asked for anything more. Charles Preece was an excellent host who ensured our stay went flawlessly!
Very cold and damp weekend and as a result bath towels were damp throughout stay and no replacements offered. Kitchen could be better equipped. No sharp knives available. Three bedrooms and only two heaters. I would only recommend cottage for summer. But otherwise we had a reasonable weekend.
