The resort comprises of 9 units, all separate from each other and most of them have sea views. Each cottage sleeps a maximum of 4 adults and 2 children (not 6 adults). There is either a double bed or 2 single beds in the main bedroom, a double bunk for children in the second bedroom and 2 single beds in the living area. Each unit has one bathroom which has a shower over the bath and a separate toilet, a well-equipped kitchen that contains a fridge-freezer, a microwave and a gas stove with an oven. Guests are required to bring their own towels and toiletries.
All cottages have a TV with limited DStv Easyview channels, as well as their own braai area. There is monitored security, CCTV and beams. The units are within 150 m from the beach where guests can explore rock pools, collect shells, swim or go fishing. There is a kiddies tidal pool in the rocks in front. Guests are welcome to bring their own DStv decoder and smartcard for full DStv access.
Port Alfred offers general shopping facilities, restaurants, sporting activities, boat hire, hiking trails and canoe rentals, horse riding and golf at the Royal Port Alfred Golf Course. This area is perfect for avid birdwatchers.
The owners stay on the property and are always available to be on stand-by for guests.

It really was so pleasant and relaxing, right on the beach, which was fantastic for the kids. Our hosts were so friendly and welcoming. It's a lovely private unit nestled in the beautiful vegetation. We will be going back again (PS the beds are really comfy).

It is a place where one can really rest and relax and escape from the daily lifestyle. Location is brilliant.
Despite inclement weather on Saturday night, it was just what my wife and I needed. Safe, clean and comfortable. Cottages far from each other and you are not bothered by anyone. Best view and at least saw a couple of dolphins as well as a whale that put on a good show. Definitely a weather for us.
We really enjoyed our visit. Children could just walk down the few steps to the clean and safe beach. Everything needed is there. Not even load shedding was a challenge, with temporary lighting set up for that. Gas stove and gas geyser there was always hot water and could cook at any time. Grill was cleaned early every morning even before we got up. We definitely recommend Bretten Beach Crest to anyone, young or old.

We only stayed 2 nights, and paid for 2 nights, I think you should repay half the deposit to your client.
The reception was friendly, the chalets clean and well equipped, a short walk to the beach, nice and quiet. We will definitely use it again.
Perfect beach cottage.
Lee and Colin are lovely hosts - kind and helpful, and focused on creating a peaceful, comfortable stay for their guests, and David, the odd-jobs man is always around somewhere if there's a problem. The units are tucked away in natural, unspoilt dune forest, so there are birds and grysbokkies and shady places to sit on the short walk to the beach. The units are very well stocked with everything you can possibly need. You bring your own towels, dish cloths and toilet paper, which means the accommodation costs can be kept very reasonable. We loved every minute of our stay and will definitely be back.
Unit is very clean and tidy. All necessities for self-catering are available. Staff and owners very friendly and helpful. View is beautiful.
The location is fantastic! It's in nature, and yet so close to the beach. We had a lovely time there. Wish we could have stayed longer, but will definitely book there again. My husband and I enjoyed every moment at Bretton Beach Crest. Our unit was very tidy and had everything we needed. The location is fantastic and we could quickly walk to the beach whenever we wanted. The beach was very quiet and some days it felt like we were there alone. The braai area was nicely placed so that we could appreciate the sea view morning, afternoon and evening. I would definitely recommend Bretton Beach Creast Holiday Cottages if you want to get away and live in silence.

The location is fantastic - just a few meters from the sea. There is a Blue Flag beach nearby for swimming. The cottages have everything you need, and the owners are very friendly and helpful. We will stay there again if we go to Port Alfred.

We had a wonderful stay. The bed sleeps fantastically and the silence was just enough to rest. Sunrise and moonrise were breathtaking over the sea. The sound of the sea in the background was beautiful. We will definitely come back with binoculars.
Chalet unsafe among woods. Facilities old. Problem with cold and hot water in bathroom. Perhaps more ideal for students.

The location in relation to the sea is awesome, and we had a great view. The beds were comfy, though only after swapping around pillows (there were 4 lovely pillows in the main bedroom, but some of the kids' pillows were lumpy). If you are only going to braai, you would love it, but using the kitchen was frustrating. The pots were too small for 4 people, I don't know how you could cook for 6 in the kitchen. There were 2 tiny serrated knives so we ended up cutting veggies with a penknife. There were no oven gloves, so we had to use the dishtowel, which was dangerous with a gas stove. Colin was very helpful, so perhaps we should have asked for assistance with the oven, as I could only get the grill and hob to work, not the lower heating element of the oven. Lastly, for those with teens, be aware that there is no WiFi. They very kindly offered us use of their own WiFi, but only for Facebook and WhatsApp, so we stuck to data. The reception was okay in some rooms, and bad in others.

We were here for my birthday and for rest, if you want a getaway for peace, this is the place for you, with the ocean that can be heard in the background it is enough to allow you to calm down and fall asleep. People are very friendly and I will definitely go again.
The "cottages" are simple, no luxury, but what one needs is there. The beds sleep wonderfully. Well equipped enough, rooms and bathroom are small. View and walking route to the beach is beautiful. Owners are very friendly.

What a lovely, relaxing get away. Walk way from the beach. Beaches are clean and very few people on the beaches. There is so much to do and find on the beach. In the rock pools are different types of fish, animals and plants. We went shell hunting and found shark eggs and sea urchin shells just to name a few. Will definitely be going back.

It was one of the nicest breakout sessions. The units take you back and make you remember the good times when kids could still play and weren't trapped behind technology. A beautiful beach that is quiet for miles. Dolphins coming to say hello in the afternoon, not too far from the rocks. The units have DStv, should you perhaps bring your mother-in-law or you and the boys want to watch rugby, but I can honestly say that with the natural beauty and the seclusion, you will want to appreciate nature and relax more than you will want to touch technology. I recommend the place to anyone who wants to escape the hustle and bustle and see if your children still know what frisbee, beach cricket and touchies are. The place is really a forest jewel by the sea. Remember your wood and fire lighters and you will have an unforgettable holiday.

Mooi uitsig. Redelike stappie met trappe en so aan na die strand, maar lekker oefening. Baie basiese geriewe, wat die billike prys verduidelik. Al die geriewe daar wat mens nodig het vir selfsorg vakansie. Dit was nogal snaak vir ons stadsjapies om water uit 'n reëntenk te kry met 'n emmer. Geen luukshede en nie vir sport- of groot TV-kykers nie.

The house was nice and close to the beach, but remote enough that you are not among many other people. The accommodation itself - everything you need is provided, and Colette and Lee took it upon themselves to provide us with clean bedding as we were there for a few days. Colette also told us about attractions. You hear the sea all the time, and from our porch you could also see it. Our dogs were together and they also enjoyed it immensely.

It was very dirty and full of dust, bathroom very disgusting, parking is horrible, bedding is just as horrible. Had a very bad night. Booked for 2 nights. But after 1 day immediately looked for another place to sleep for the evening.
Lovely cottage close to the beach, the beach was lovely and clean. The cottage was very nice with a gas stove and a lovely large fridge. A little maintenance is needed, but nothing that would upset our stay. Thanks to Lee and Colin for a lovely stay.

Getting to our little house was a bit difficult and the road to get there is not the best. The owner is very friendly and came to welcome us. The view is something to behold.
Could book in earlier and the reception was from the books. Very nice stay and feel rested. Place feels very safe. We could go for a walk with our puppy on the beach. We stayed in no. 2 with great sea views and no wind bothering you on the porch. Will definitely visit the place again.

The cottages are pretty basic however you will find everything you need. They are well spaced for super peace and privacy. Beach access is a few steps away with a tidal pool. The surroundings are exquisite, vegetation beautiful and birdlife captivating.

The location is very good. About 100 m from the beach. The value for the time of year was excellent. The accommodation is basic but acceptable. The unit was clean. Water is not drinkable and you must take fresh drinking water along. If you do not mind a more rustic approach, this is the place for you. We will go there again as this is very acceptable accommodation.
We had never holidayed in a similar place before and really needed to rest. It was affordable and the beds were extremely comfortable which is very important. The braai was cleaned for us daily although the cottage was not serviced daily. This suits us perfectly, because then your time is your own and you don't have to worry about your things lying around. The beaches are breathtakingly beautiful and unbelievably clean. A wonderful getaway. Thank you.

Great view from cottage on sea and its very private. This cottage is equipped with the necessities. The malls and sight seeing places are also not far from the cottages. I would highly recommend this place a holiday especially if you have kids as it has its own tidal pool.

What a neat place, in a very nice area. The owners are very hospitable - do ask about places to visit in the area. It will make your stay much more worthwhile. Each unit has its unique setting, surrounded by vegetation that makes it private. The units are clean and tidy, and although close to town, it feels like one is deep in nature. It is meters from the sea, with a safe tidal pool and miles of vast private beach to explore. I would definitely recommend it for couples or families wanting to get away from the busy city life, and just looking for a bit of silence. Although not five-star, all the basics are there, and one needs nothing more. If you are a nature lover, this is the place to visit. I will definitely go back again.

Die huisie kan regtig opgeknap word, selfs net 'n bietjie aandag aan die dekor sal ver gaan - daardie gordyne en beddegoed lyk ongeveer 30 jaar oud en daar is niks smaakvol oor die binnekant nie. Teen die prys wat ons betaal het, was ons 'n bietjie teleurgesteld, ons het gevoel dat ons net vir die uitsig betaal. Ten minste was die beddens gemaklik en die gashere was vriendelik en vinnig om te reageer op probleme met die badkamer se lig en gas wat klaar word.

The accommodation was simple, but neat and everything we needed was there. We were only there for a short time and will stay longer next time, value for money, nice and private. Wat 'n wonderlike plek. Ek kan nie wag om weer te kom nie. Die strande en rotspoele is asemrowend en lekker om te verken. Ek kan hierdie verblyf nie genoeg aanbeveel nie! Daar is soveel interessante dinge om te sien en plekke waarheen jy kan gaan. Die verblyf is eenvoudig, bekostigbaar, skoon en wonderlik. Die gashere, Lee en Colin, is ook baie vriendelik en hulpvaardig. Hierdie was 'n fantastiese wegbreek.

I stayed in number 6. At no point are you told that there is only breakwater, so you can't drink it. Your drinking water is in a plastic bowl that you scoop out to drink. The rest is in an asbestos tank, poor quality, water was brown in colour. The toilet system's trade was not working properly. The TV is so small and even if the sound is set to maximum (from TV and DSTV remote, you can't hear anything. The DSTV channels you are told you can watch, if I remember correctly, most of them didn't exist (not part of the package). The pots and pans were still burnt dirty from the previous person's food. There are no sharp knives, so cutting meat is a nightmare. The beds are already hollowed out, so your body is just sore the next day. The cupboards have no doors, just old curtains in front of them which you then open and close. The kitchen sink stopper doesn't work, water keeps coming out slowly when you wash dishes. The driveway to the cottage is terrible style, so suggest you on reverse. The mop in the kitchen was awful, so cleaning floors with it is a "no no"! The furniture is very "outdated", so be prepared for that. The sea is close and if you only walking on the beach you can relax.To sum up, very very disappointing!

Good quality beds. Breathtaking beach. Nice in the forest by the sea. If you like luxury this is not the place for you. If you want to watch TV with a choice of many channels, it's not going to happen. But personally, not watching TV was awesome. The beautiful view is better than the silver screen. Rustic and just the basics. Nothing tiger lantins.
Peaceful and wonderfully relaxing among the trees and plants with the sea in the background and the calls of different birds. The accommodation has everything you need and in working order. The TV can improve, old and only certain channels. The roads are in reasonable condition and signage is good.

Just a few steps from the beach, ideal for children. Basic accommodaiton, not modern at all, but well equipped and clean. Friendly and helpful owners.
The stay is a bit far from the normal activities, but it was still very nice. The view and location overlooking the sea is very pleasant. The accommodation is passable, but the furniture is not the best and the double bed in the "cottage" was already very hollow. The bedding is also not really guest house quality, but at least it was clean. Overall it was a relatively cheap break and can be recommended, provided you are prepared to accept that it is not a guest house but a family holiday spot.
Beautiful view of the ocean. Enjoyed the abundant birdlife. The "cottage" was clean and neat. Few days was quite cold though, a heater would have been nice.

Lovely stay - the hostess even went as far as to phone us to find out if we were okay when we were a bit delayed by heavy traffic and rain.
The cottage is clean and very comfortable with fantastic ocean views and 3 minutes walk through milkwood trees to the beautiful beach. The immediate surroundings are a nature lover's and birdwatcher's paradise. Owners are very tuned in on their guests and have a passion for what they do. Enjoyed the stay and would love to go again. The house is neat and very well located, but the beds and the bedding are very poor. Will go back if we know the problem has been attended to.
Unfortunately (or fortunately!) it rained all three days we were there. Cottages are very nice and private with a nice view of the sea. There is everything one needs. Nice stay.
We really enjoyed it and it had everything we needed. The cottages could maybe be upgraded with new linen and decor.
Will go back to Bretton Beach again any day.

If you're looking for peace and privacy at an affordable price and a fantastic see view! Nothing luxurious, but you can get a long comfortably with the available facilities. Will definitely go to this hospitable resort again and recommend it to everyone.
I had a great time, peaceful and great location. The premises was old school, and just simply relaxed. Only issue was that the braai was completely open which became a problem when it rained. Perhaps a back up portable braai or a few bricks over the braai to form a closed braai could work for the travellers who fly in. Otherwise nice place, good service and just amazing spot.

It's a sacred treasure chest with everything you need. You can enjoy it with full privacy. The unit has a patio and a braai area. The beach is walking distance and there's a tidal pool for the kids as well as rocks for those who want to climb and look for fish in the puddles. There's also a lot of shells and pebbles. Port Alfred has a lot to offer as well as the adjoining towns. Can't wait to go back. Lee and Collin will see as soon. Thank you for your hospitality and support.
We will recommend Bretton Beach anytime. The unit has everything you need like a kitchen, rooms and bathrooms. The patio with a sea view is unbeatable. A surprise was that each unit is connected to an alarm with a security service. Bretton Beach is ideal for a family with children. It is very safe and 2 minutes' walk from the beach, away from the main beach. The business part of the town is also conveniently closeby. Colin and Lee are fantastic hosts and makes it all very easy. For those who value privacy, a sea view, comfort and quiet, look no further.
Certainly not the most modern accommodation that one can find, but it is neat, clean and with all of the amenities that one would need to break away from the daily activities for a couple of days. I will definitely do it again!

The resort comprises of 9 units, all separate from each other and most of them have sea views. Each cottage sleeps a maximum of 4 adults and 2 children (not 6 adults). There is either a double bed or 2 single beds in the main bedroom, a double bunk for children in the second bedroom and 2 single beds in the living area. Each unit has one bathroom which has a shower over the bath and a separate toilet, a well-equipped kitchen that contains a fridge-freezer, a microwave and a gas stove with an oven. Guests are required to bring their own towels and toiletries.
All cottages have a TV with limited DStv Easyview channels, as well as their own braai area. There is monitored security, CCTV and beams. The units are within 150 m from the beach where guests can explore rock pools, collect shells, swim or go fishing. There is a kiddies tidal pool in the rocks in front. Guests are welcome to bring their own DStv decoder and smartcard for full DStv access.
Port Alfred offers general shopping facilities, restaurants, sporting activities, boat hire, hiking trails and canoe rentals, horse riding and golf at the Royal Port Alfred Golf Course. This area is perfect for avid birdwatchers.
The owners stay on the property and are always available to be on stand-by for guests.
