The place was extremely neat and clean. More than what one needs is available in the place. Didn't expect the welcome gifts at all - thank you very much. The path to the river is a bit overgrown, but it was no problem to get to the river. Our dog also really enjoyed running around and "exploring" by the river. Although we booked cottage 3 and got cottage 4 because there were already people in cottage 3, I don't think there was a difference in privacy or anything else. We see you again.

It was wonderfully peaceful with three beagles. The place was incredibly clean and tidy.
Unit 5 at Burkei Guest Cottages was amazing, enjoyed the modern appliances and finishes. The extras supplied (i.e. wood, blitz, charcoal, sugar, tea, coffee) were a pleasant surprise. We will most certainly be back. Hiking/picnic trails indicated on the site map need some brush clearing as they were hard to follow due to the overgrowth.
We are very impressed with Burkei Guest Cottages. You have everything you need in your cottage, a swimming pool, privacy, a beautiful view and the manager goes out of her way for her guests! We will definitely go there again, as soon as possible. It is absolutely value for money!

We had a great stay at Burkei Guest Cottages. The unit has everything you need, it was clean and tidy. The cottages are in the woods, and the ticks are a problem, but if you take precautions it will be ok. The private pool is a bonus, we pooled in it as it was warm.
We were kindly received and had everything we needed. Had no shortage of anything. Thank you very much for the nice stay and extra wood as well as charcoal which was quite a surprise. A bonus is the power available at all times. I could take my pet with me with peace of mind and no worries.
Cottage 2 at Burkei Guest Cottages is fully fenced, pet-friendly, with a private pool and garden. The cottage is well-equipped with care put into the details.
We really enjoyed our stay and had a great time relaxing! The pool was a big plus in the terrible heat. Just note that the nearest shop is quite a drive, so pack enough food if you don't want to drive around. It is indeed difficult to entertain small children. We were here with our 4 year old and she got bored very quickly as there is not really much to do for children. She did really enjoy the pool. We had no mobile reception (MTN) and the WiFi didn't work well either. I think a park/jungle gym somewhere on the site would work quite well!

From the beginning to the end the holiday was beyond expectations. We are warmly welcomed to Burkei who made you feel right at home. The cottage was very neat and well furnished. My 2 schnauzers used up the garden holes. Walking around there was also very nice. You see some of the most beautiful views. We will go again for sure. We rested well.
A beautiful house located on a farm. The house has everything you need. Privacy. A pool. A washing machine. Dishwasher. All you need to not worry and have time to unwind.
Place is very quiet. Hear nothing from the other guests. Our 2 small dogs were welcomed with open arms. Just be aware that there are a lot of ticks, so be prepared. Alet is the dearest person. We will definitely visit again.

Not a place for the children as there are no child amusement facilities. Everything is catered for.

We stayed in unit 5 and it was lovely. The unit was very neat, clean and luxurious. It is definitely excellent value for money. Each unit has its own swimming pool and braai. It was terribly hot throughout the day, but every room in the unit has a good ceiling fan, it was a winner! Our baby Yorkie thoroughly enjoyed herself. We will definitely come back again.

Upon our arrival we were duly welcomed. We enjoyed the environment and built beautiful memories. We were surprised how beautiful the surroundings were in the gorge.
Together with our dogs and children, we enjoyed it tremendously. There are nice walking routes that are clearly marked. The accommodation is clean, tidy and modern with everything you need.

Each house is very beautiful and has a small private pool and barbecue area. We really liked it and would love to go again. It's a great place if you just want to relax and recharge your batteries.
Burkei goes the extra mile, there is free wood, charcoal, firelighters and matches. There is enough coffee and tea for a weekend. They even provided dishwasher tablets. The outdoor shower was a big treat for me personally!

Stunning accommodation - they have certainly thought of everything in this self-catering setting. Very tranquil with beautiful views, clean, comfortable, value for money, spacious and modern. Jardyne and Inge were easy to communicate with, very friendly and always helpful. Even though the accommodation is pet-friendly, there is no fencing around the cottage we stayed in. For us, this wasn't an issue as my Jack Russell stayed within the "boundaries" of our unit even with the next unit having dogs as well. The outside shower was a nice extra for those hot days. Best thing is the private splash pool and braai right on the patio! Will definitely visit again!
We were surprised by the the accommodation as a whole. We were looked after and really enjoyed our stay. We are looking forward to visiting again bringing the nephews.

Very expected surrounds , great for a relaxing weekend
Burkei's accommodation is modern and spacious. Everything is very neat and their service is excellent. Although they are out on a dirt road, it is the last of your worries that you will leave at the tarmac. It is a very beautiful scenic dirt road that you can't help but drive slowly on, just to take in everything around you. We enjoyed every moment here and will definitely be back for many more nights.

These rooms look like a 5-star hotel - block out curtains, slippers on the bed, exceptionally clean. Washing machine, dishwasher, outside shower and private pool - wow. The only downside is the location - it is a beautiful place, but not much to do. Hiking is limited on the farm, we could not fish since there is a hippo or two and there is no game on the farm. It was cold so we could not swim. But if you are not traveling with kids, you can sleep in and enjoy the view.

The accommodation itself is really well done and has everything you could need: nice braai area, king size bed, all the appliances you could think of and one of the best outside showers I’ve seen. It’s fairly private and far enough away from the other units. Inge was super organised and helpful. The farm itself is a few kilometers across and the hill behind the unit has lovely views with a mix of open grassland, indigenous trees and rocky outcrops. Very nice for a hike or morning run. The river section on the farm is for guests only and also very peaceful for a picnic or some fishing. The birdwatching in the area is probably the best in Gauteng being at the intersection of a number of different habitats. Got to 80 birds in a few days in mid winter and I’m no pro. Spotted the rare African Finfoot twice at the river. The birding around the unit itself is great and you can watch a selection of canaries, firefinches, drongos, bee eaters, fly catchers and even a striped pipit from the veranda.
Just an hour from Pretoria, very nice, neat self-catering units, each with its own pool and patio. Everything you need, even a dishwasher and washing machine! We had a great time walking and would love to return in the summer. Truly a gem in Gauteng. If you need a break and you don't want to drive hours to get to your destination, this is the place to be!
