The living area is open-plan and the kitchen contains a fridge-freezer, a microwave, a stove, an oven, and crockery and cutlery for 10 people. Casa la Mer also features a heated splash pool and an outside braai area. The property is secured with an alarm system and an electric fence.

17 guests' feedbackLast mile or 2 do need to have a utility vehicle, but the privacy makes up for it. House needs some restoration work, but lovely farm feel. Trees can be trimmed a bit, no pond view. Pool a bonus.
Was a very nice and spacious place. Perfect for our golf group and nice hanging out space and pool. Apart from the road to get there, it is a fantastic place and very peaceful.

The scenery is really beautiful. It is the perfect place to relax and enjoy nature. The caretaker and housekeeper were friendly, helpful and accommodating too. The only thing is that you definitely need a 4x4 when traveling to Casa La Mer. You need to be a good driver as the road is very challenging and the last 2 km is hectic.
The place was really clean and neat when we arrived. There was also everything we need there.
The road to accommodation is very bad.
When we got there, the key inside the house was locked by the cleaner, we had to climb over the trailer ourselves to get the key inside the house. The place was not cleaned very neatly when we got there. The fridge in the house doesn't make things cool like it should. On Friday night we had no power through the night due to plugs not working properly. We had a wedding on Saturday, power was out no one warned us about loadshedding after we said we were booking for wedding. There are no mirrors anywhere near a power plug to blow hair. None of the doors close properly, all the doors have gaps. Believe the place has high potential, but is very neglected for the price you pay.

The house hasn’t been cleaned properly for a very long time including the bathrooms. If the house was kept clean the bugs would not be as bad as they are. The lights in the main room, 9 out of 10 don’t work. It’s too dark in there to even read. The electric fence doesn’t work and the gate which doesn’t have a motor is kept open all the time. It never gets locked even on request. The pool was muddy and unusable for the duration of our stay. The access road after a rain was frightening.
My biggest issue was the showers and the way the water operated was the worst, the water didn’t come out proper.
We were a group of 8 friends staying at Casa La Mer for 2 nights. The house is located on the dam with nice views over the dam and area. I would suggest that the bushy trees in the garden be pruned to provide a better view. The patio is nice, although a garden table and chairs would also be nice to hang out under the trees. The road to the house is not at all suitable for an ordinary car, and a 4x4 / bakkie is definitely needed because large stones and uneven road surface. Will definitely go again!
We were quite disappointed in the stay overall. It was clear that the house had not been cleaned very thoroughly. One of the rooms smelled really bad from cigarette smoke. The bathrooms and bedrooms everywhere showed signs of dirt from some time, not just upstairs dust. The lighting is very poor in the house and one of the main lights in the living room did not work, with the result that we had to move around with bedside lamps, even during the day to be able to see what was going on in the kitchen when we were cooking. The kitchen table was practically impossible to use because the top was loose and this again shows poor maintenance. We did have a good time and enjoyed the surroundings. It's just a shame the view over the pond is overgrown and you can't get the Harties feeling when you visit the outdoor barbecue area. The warm water pool was lovely, and so in the winter season we could have a nice swim. The fireplace warmed up the house, which is quite cold, in the evenings and made for a nice visit. I doubt we will go again if the opportunity comes again.
It is well equipped for 8 people. The pool kept the kids busy. It was also very nice to take the dogs along. The security of the place was also good. Any problems we encountered were quickly resolved beyond our expectations. My only problem was that it is advertised for 8 to 10 people but the cutlery and crockery was not always enough for the people.
We were there for 4 nights and although the road still needs work, the stay there was very nice, the 2 bedrooms each have an aircon which was convenient in the heat and the place is small, but very nice and enough room for 10 people. The house is actually quite close to a lot of places in Hartbeespoort itself, so that was also useful.
Very nice place to relax!
We really enjoyed it, it was the perfect place for our golf tour. The only downside is the dirt road in and out of the house.

The house is situated on the bank of the river. The gravel road is approximately 2 km. We advise guests not to make use of low-profile vehicles.A daily cleaning service can be arranged on request at an additional charge of R250 per day for general housekeeping.
We are pet-friendly. Please note that the breakage deposit needs to be paid in cash to Louis, the caretaker. He will refund the deposit before you depart if no damage occurs.
