The best ever and safe.
Feel at home immediately. The owner is very friendly and hospitable. Room is spacious and beautiful. Everything you need. Beautiful garden!

The service is not pleasant.
Access control, the owner need hire cleaners, the rooms themselves in cluding bedding and showers need to be thoroughly cleaned.
Like I said, it was lovely staying here. Aunt Gerda makes it very pleasant, she is friendly and hospitable and her guest house is clean and tidy.
There is air conditioning which is ideal for the hot summer evenings, upon our arrival we were welcomed and received peacefully.
Got a room for 4 people at short notice. Facilities, TV, shower, fridge etc. is comfortable and the room is neat and clean.
Upon arrival, lady didn't even ask who we were. We were taken to another room and then told she could give us R700 per night. We did already pay full reservation in December. Booked room number 4 but couldn't stay there as it was being painted. Then only took room 5 where my husband had to move the bed back because it was also painted. Wanted to make a cup of coffee, no teaspoon in room. My husband had to go and ask for the gate's remote so that we could come in ourselves later that evening. Had a wedding and didn't get back to guest house until late at night, struggled for parking and had to let other guests block us so we could all have parking. Not impressed. Will not book again.
We checked in earlier after we made sure it was all right, started showering to get ready for a wedding then there were 5 drops of cold water. And of course no water. Had to rinse hair with a 5 liter water bottle. Informed the manager there was no water. Just to hear sorry everyone came there to do laundry and now the water has run out. Very weak. Will not sleep there again.

Ongoing maintenance being done presently, which is necessary in some areas.
The place is neat, safe and the owner is friendly. Would recommend anytime.
Cleaning services need to be stepped up. Urgent maintenance required. With that in place, I can recommend it.
It was clean and it's very safe
The large number of contract workers sitting near our room drinking or walking around with bottles of beer made us feel very unsafe. In the end, our worries were for nothing and there was no unnecessary noise either.

Will stay there again. Had a great time. The owner really makes you feel at home. Rooms are neat and clean and well equipped.
We enjoyed our stay at Chris guest House. If you are looking for accommodation around Hartswater, Charis would be your best bet. The place was clean, the host was friendly and so welcoming, definitely a home away from home, also loved her breakfast.
We arrived early for things we needed to accomplish in Hartswater. Our hostess could not have been kinder and more helpful. She also provided a tea tray and made sure our needs were well met. We were thankful for her kindness! Charis means God's grace and we found in her a very graceful and gracious hostess. The rooms were well-equipped and clean and lovely.

Many thanks to Gerda, who waited on us and checked in personally every morning to make sure we had a good night's rest and if we needed anything else. Pointing out the woodcutters was a highlight for us!
