We had a wonderful stay. They can only install a towel arrangement in the bathroom. There is only one catch and we were 3 people staying in the room. But at least our towels were changed every day and the room was cleaned.
Very nice brew. Very neat and service was very good. Breakfast was wonderful.

College Lodge looks and feels run down. Positive points: Staff were friendly and on their job. Near a mall. Security was friendly and helpful. We were able to leave at 04:00 the next morning. Negative points: Mattress was hard and old. Didn't sleep well at all. Bathrooms have no towel arrangements. Roof leaked during a storm. Exterior door is old and battered. Room and bathroom felt dirty.
Half a toilet roll, no hairdryer, one tea bag, one coffee bag, no water bottles in the fridge, the WiF is poor. The mattress is worn through and rock hard. It's a shame because the place is excellently located. The breakfast was advertised for R95 but the lodge charges R125. The breakfast was good. There was also a noise in the night from the guests. We understand that certain guests need toilet rolls etc. take but don't shave everyone with the same comb. You are the hosts. You must budget for such losses.
Lovely stay, definitely recommendable! Centrally located. A short walk from the nearest Mall. Nice garden to sit in and visit. People are really friendly. People always on their post.
I confirmed and paid for breakfast for Saturday morning. The website shows R92 per person, was informed that it was R152 upon arrival. I contacted reception at 07h00 in the morning to find out if I can have a refund, as we decided not to go for breakfast. The lady said she will get back to me and heard nothing else. When we booked out, I enquired again and was told under no uncertain terms that this is not possible and I will not be refunded. When I asked why they did not contact me earlier, the receptionist said that the manager was not available. I would have gone for breakfast if I was informed when I phoned at 07h00. The receptionist only pulled up his shoulders and said there was nothing he can do. I will not book with them again purely on principles.
Rooms are cozy and warm for a Free State winter. Recommendations: Introduce 'Quality control' checklists when large groups overwhelm them. Towels for all guests were missing. Maintenance should be done more often. Just because you know the 'trick' to unlock the door is not normal for the guest. Maintenance again, how long has that gate been a problem? The 'gaurdhouse' is not a flower pot, put someone in it. Especially during rush hour.
Quiet overnight lodge.
We stopped here for a break on our trip from Cape Town to Johannesburg. It was very convenient, beautiful gardens, lovely swimming pool. Rooms are clean and decent size. We had everything we needed for a quick and simple stay overnight. They were also very welcoming of our German Shepherd who was traveling with us.
Very conveniently located and safe, could do better on cleanliness for 4 stars, breakfast very good, price only differs from advertised.
I gave a three star for location and safety as I feel through no fault of your own the area has become unsafe due to locals hanging around the area who have been drinking, also unfortunate that the shopping centre close to you has closed down which encourages loitering. I went to the Mimosa Mall to get food but felt unsafe walking back after 6pm. Your staff are very friendly and helpful and love your garden. Your rooms were clean and the bed comfortable.
College Lodge on photos looks fantastic, but on our arrival the young ladies could not find our reservation and our room is not what we booked. The building needs some renovation. Our hot water was not exactly hot and load shedding occurred where the guest house left us with no equipment. For the price, people expect everything to be neat and in place.

The reality is unfortunately far from what one expects based on the photos. This is not a cosy country feel guesthouse, somewhere peaceful. Instead, it is essentially a stop over hotel, right on a main street in town, across from the university. The attention to detail showcased in the photos, was nowhere to be seen. When we arrived at 7pm on a Saturday, there was no one at reception, the security guard came in from the street to check us in and show us to our room. He couldn't find the keys to any other door in the building, which meant we had to carry our camping fridge very far through the building to get to our room. The door handle to the balcony was literally falling apart and I had to screw it back together. There was sewage problem in the shower with a really bad smell. The towels were stained in all kinds of unhealthy ways and the mattress should have been replaced long ago. Upon leaving the next morning, the girl at the counter didn't greet us or even ask how our stay was, she just jumped straight to the outstanding balance on our account. The whole experience left one feeling like someone once cared a great deal to get the place up and running and put in the extra effort and attention to detail, but based on our stay, that person has long moved on. Rather look elsewhere.
Had different rooms and all three rooms were not very clean, in one room we found a hair extension on the bathroom floor. Everyone's linen was clean. Don't think I'll stay there again. The arrangement with the guard to open the gate when one was out was not very successful either.

Comfortable and tidy accommodation, but the bathtub leaks. Had to keep the faucet open the whole time while we bathed, because water was running out. Washbasin or bath water drains onto the floor in the bathroom. Other than that it was 100%. Thank you very much.
College Lodge is centrally located and it truly was wonderful to spend a night here! The only negative comment I can make is the bathroom floor was wet everytime I showered due to the fact that there is no shower door and there is a crack in the wall. Other than that, it was a lovely guest house to spend the night at. It was safe with 24 hour security and a lovely garden. The breakfast was tops! Thank you College Lodge!
College Lodge is a very nice guest house to spend the night. Nice central location in Bloemfontein as well.
Staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and tidy. Although it was a bit expensive for just 1 person, it was still worth it because it was within walking distance of everything.

After a very long journey we needed a place to rest. Very friendly welcome with no problems. Good bedding, clean and tidy. Had a delicious breakfast for an extra fee, very comfortable. A refrigerator can be convenient for travelers. Still I can recommend.
The only small inconvenience was the fact that I did not receive a remote for the gate. Other than that I enjoyed my stay in a pretty and clean room.

Right across from UFS, where we had to be. The location was ideal. Near shopping centers. Service was very friendly and helpful to upgrade our room to two single beds, as per our booking, with garden exit. Rooms were stylish and spacious with high quality linen. Homely feeling. The breakfast is delicious with a wide variety.

They have the most amazing cat, when you great the cat it follows you to your room. Very neat and quiet. You can stay there with comfort.
We arranged to check in earlier, on e-mail everything was arranged, but when we got there, they weren't ready for us at all. There was no hot water at 3 o'clock in the afternoon, the bathtub faucet was broken and there was no one to receive our key or open the gate the next morning.
Would recommend this to everyone, service exceptional! Location perfect and close to everything. Was so nice to stay there and the decor is beautiful and stylish. Tranquil atmosphere and very safe.

I travel a lot and always look for good value for money accommodation. It must, however, be clean, modern and comfortable. College Lodge accommodated all my needs.
A very neat and safe place with friendly reception and nice breakfast. However, our room was very small with limited space to put down our luggage and little room to move around. I assume it's because we booked the standard room.

College Lodge is very centrally located and easy to reach from the N1. The rooms are very comfortably equipped and the staff are so professional and friendly.
Our accommodation was lovely we wanted to stay in the room all the time instead of exploring the area, which was actually what we had in mind. Slept well and got some good rest befor we had to take the long way back to Thabazimbi in Limpopo. Highly recommend this lodge.

We found College Lodge clean, tidy and adequate. Although we chose a cheaper room, quality was not lacking. It's beautiful with fine linen. Secure parking. Friendly reception staff as well as security personnel who helped with every request.
Pleasant place, but the room was just too small for the R700 I paid. Not good enough value for money. There was also no air conditioner in the room.
Would definitely recommend it. Service for drinks at reception is just a bit slow.
The accommodation was fantastic and we will definitely always book at College Lodge when we have to stay in Bloemfontein.
After 9 hours of travel one need absolute silence to rest peacefully. We were in a room (21) which was close to a generator/ machine which was running the whole night and we found it very disruptive for sleep. The staff however were excellent.
