Cyara was nothing short of amazing! From the moment our booking was confirmed, we felt welcomed by the hosts who wanted to make sure our arrival was personal. We arrived and felt at home instantly. The photos of Cyara are nothing short of what you see; they are not in any way doctored. The location is central, and you have everything you need to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. The beds are super comfy, and the views are exceptional and mind-blowing. The perfect location for getting away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. I will definitely return to Cyara when I visit the Overberg again. I simply enjoyed it, and my little family had the best time of their lives. Thank you for being so accommodating.
Very well equipped unit with lots of space and beautiful views to the mountain and sea. The indoor grill was a welcome bonus. Linen, decor and furniture testify to good taste and the internet access was consistently of good quality. Communication was good from the moment the booking was confirmed and during our stay. The host and his wife made an effort to make us feel welcome, without intruding on our privacy. For us as frequent travelers, this was certainly one of the best value for money options so far. Thank you very much for literally thinking of everything to make our stay comfortable.

Excellent! Cyara exceeded all expectations. The rule is usually that one expects and gets what one pays for. We found much more than we expected. The furniture and decor are truly rooted in the traditional and evoke the most beautiful nostalgia in any proudly Afrikaans-speaking visitor. Everything (really everything) is spotless, comfortable and well maintained. Add to that an extremely well equipped kitchen, indoor and outdoor barbecue, fantastic view of both mountain and sea. Yes, then you have an excellent guest house for your stay in Betty's. I can testify that none of the photos on the ad have been doctored, this is exactly how it looks there. The location of the house places it at the end of Betty's and therefore facilitates a trip to both Kleinmond or the town center of Betty's. Safety is not even necessary to discuss, sufficient prevention has been taken without making the space feel like a prison. The WiFi is surprisingly fast, so much so that as a visitor you can comfortably use any streaming service, such as Netflix etc. I suggest you leave your decoder at home and instead bring your "TV Stick" or similar, works like a bomb. The internet, lights etc. is not affected by Eskom, thanks to standby batteries (no noisy generators). For everything else (including hot water) there is gas. However, the icing on the cake is the host and hostess. Friendly, hospitable and helpful. respect your privacy and allow you and your family to simply hang out, relax and do your own thing. Again, at this price point, Cyara stands head and shoulders above the offerings in the same category.
View is incredibly beautiful. Will definitely visit there again. If you want tranquility and want to relax, this is the place to be for sure.

We were warmly received and had a lovely stay. A nice fire made in the fireplace and a wonderful view of the mountain and sea. Wood creates an authentic atmosphere and the windows are wonderfully large. The beds were comfortable and we were impressed with the "cool" fridges.

Cyara is the 2nd to last house outside Betty's Bay, so it easily accessible to get to Kleinmond. Beaches are great for long walks. It has a lovely view of the sea in the distance. Guy and Anro were most welcoming and gave me much privacy for a quiet 3 nights. The house does have stairs, with the main bedroom upstairs, incase you need to know. A great spot.
Guy and Alta are great hosts. Two things to bear in mind however are that the house is on the very busy Bettys' Bay, Hermanus road (although not that busy at night) and the bedrooms do not have any natural light. But in the end we still had a great stay.

Our second time there, on the edge of Bettys Bay, with the mountains behind you and the sea in front. There is a lovely lawn at the back where you can sit, barbecue, drink wine and just enjoy the view. Just around the corner from Palmiet river for swimming and cooling off and next to Kogelberg nature reserve. The house itself is set up in such a way that you can literally just turn up with your clothes and food, the rest is there. Such a beautiful view from the living room upstairs to the lovely downstairs. We will be back again.
This isn't a commercial spot built to wow online. Cyara is a real home, built with thought and love. Guy is very modest about the home he's built, but the details for comfortable living have been really finely worked out. The pictures can't do justice to how it feels to be here. We loved the location, on the edge of Betty's Bay and the doorstep of the Kogelberg, with wonderful views you can enjoy in every nook of the house. The fynbos behind the house is a botanical wonderland. We hiked/scrambled up to a cave in the mountain above the house which was a highlight. Guy and his wife were at home during our stay, but we weren't aware of them at all - except when we needed something, when the response was prompt and helpful. I'd warmly recommend this spot to families and friends wanting to spend some quality time with each other and enjoy the quiet beauty of this part of the world.

We would recommend Cyara to anyone. Guy and Alta make you feel so welcome and you also have your privacy. The house is well furnished and all amenities are provided. There are two beaches to choose from and lovely places to eat around. We will definitely go there again.
So much thought has been put into this place. The hosts are so amazing and helpful. Even with stairs they made everything so safe for children. The garden is beautiful and the place is wonderfully clean and nicely equipped. We had a wonderful rest.

The location is perfect. You can enjoy long walks and the penguins are close to see. The walking route is beautiful and the coastal route in Gordons Bay is breathtaking.
We went with our 2 teenage grandchildren and our dog, Rambo, and Cyara just suited our needs, perfectly. We love the 2 levels and rustic-ness of Cyara. It was peaceful and relaxing, so much so that we didn't want to leave. We felt safe and it was reassuring to know that Guy and Alta were just next door. They are so hospitable and approachable. Also so lovely that Kleinmond is just around the corner from Cyara. We definitely recommend Cyara for families. If the opportunity arises, we would definitely go back to Cyara. Cyara is a very comfortable home away from home. Guy and Alta (live in a separate flatlet on the property) are very helpful but don't intrude at all. Will definitely stay there again.
The couple who owns Cyara is lovely and friendly people, who welcome you, show you around and then leaves you to enjoy this beautiful house in this magnificent setting. The house has the feeling of a real family house lovingly lived in and filled with personal items rather than an impersonal lodge or B&B in a coastal town. The house is fully equipped with indoor and outdoor braai facilities, from deck chairs to pots and pans. The rooms are comfortable and the two rooms upstairs have their own living room that looks out on the blue Atlantic. Sitting at the back of the house you have an unspoiled view of the grandeur of the Kogelberge. We'll see you again soon.
The stay was wonderful, and the service received from Guy was second to none. We were kept informed of everything we needed to know (such as the movement of the upperclassmen) everything we needed was there. Will definitely go again!

Guy and Alta welcomed us very kindly and made us feel very much at home. The Rooi-Els road also has breathtaking views right up to Cyara Huis. As a person who lives in a quiet neighborhood, I can confirm that although you sometimes hear cars passing by, the road next to the house is not disturbing at all. We were kindly received by Uncle Guy and Aunt Alta at their piece of heaven on earth. The house offers everything that self-catering requires. Lovely balcony overlooking the sea. We could hear the waves crashing against the rocks all day. With the penguins and Herold Porter Gardens there were also the baboons who provided a lot of entertainment. Cyara is well equipped with everything you want from self-catering. The owners are extremely friendly and there were even small pieces of wood for us at the braai. The house is equipped with everything: from a can opener, tongs and grills, camping chairs, a body board to leaflets about the area. There was coffee, tea, milk and biscuits for us in the kitchen. The house is not luxurious, so don't expect luxury. Cyara is ideal for casual people who don't want to spend too much on a getaway. We used Cyara as a base to visit Kleinmond, Stoney Point, Kolegberg Nature Reserve and Harold Porter Nature Park. The view of the sea (front) and mountain (back) is beautiful! We had fun playing cards and hanging out in the upper living area with a view of the sea. The free wifi was strong. The water in the upstairs bathroom was very nice and warm. The gas geyser in the downstairs bathroom and in the kitchen was okay. (Note: there are stairs in the house, but someone who has difficulty with stairs would be able to get along, as the kitchen, one full bathroom and one bedroom (as well as a living area) are located on the lower floor.) Thanks Guy and Alta for a lovely weekend.

From the chocolate on the beds, the offer to check-in as early as we want and to leave as late as we want, the book gift, and the fact that they didn't care that we had an extra person in our company, Guy and Alta did everything they could to make our stay as comfortable as possible. And I haven't even mentioned the mountain and sea views and the neat, interesting house that had more than what our family needed for a weekend getaway! We will definitely be back, but longer next time!

Our stay was wonderful. Guy and Alta waited for us at the house and quickly showed us around and made us feel welcome. We had a nice conversation and got good advice on the area. The house is very comfortable with everything you could possibly need. The house feels like a home, not just a basic beach house with someone else's leftover furniture that's been shoved into it (and then costs a small fortune). The photos are realistic. The lounges and living area are spacious with beautiful views and the small bedrooms aren't a problem - it's just nice for a good night's sleep with the sound of the waves as a lullaby. We will definitely stay there again, hopefully for longer than just a weekend!

This was probably one of the best and easiest locations I've ever stayed at along the Rooi Els/Bettys Bay Route. The hosts were amazing and friendly, the place itself is in one of the best spots in Betty's Bay and to top it all off its fitted out to the max with everything you need for a nice peaceful weekend away from the city. Guy and Alta are wonderful hosts and immediately made us feel welcome. The house is very neat and clean with everything you might need. It's located in a beautiful, picturesque area where you can get some peace for your soul from the city noise. I will definitely come back.

We could not have asked for a better place to stay than this. The fantastic sea view from the house was definitely charming with a nice lived in-atmosphere which made our stay at Cyara very pleasant. A big thank you to Guy and Alta for their friendliness, from the moment we arrived until we left.
My sister and cousins decided on Cyara for a much needed break from the rat race. After a lovely scenic drive from Cape Town we arrived and we welcomed by Guy and Alta, who are the nicest of people. They called a few days before our arrival to check that if we had any special requests. Really a lovely couple. The house was so spacious, really spotless and the view, facing the ocean is surreal. We basically camped out in the lounge, talked and played 30 Seconds (probably a bit noisy but one or two very competitive family members). We did a 10 km hike at the Kogelberg Nature Reserve on the Saturday morning and the view was absolutely breathtaking. We will definitely be back and am so thankful to Guy and Alta for the home away from home.

We were received by very friendly owners, they made us feel very welcome and gave us absolute privacy. The house was very clean and everything was perfect. I would definitely recommend Cyara house if you want to get away from busy life, or just to come and relax as a family too. It met all our requirements. We had a very nice and comfortable stay in a wonderful peaceful area with the most beautiful view of the sea. Cyara is a lovely self-catering unit to go home to on holiday, it's peaceful with a beautiful view of the sea. It is close enough to shops as well as the beach and a nice swimming spot.

House rules
We provide all the bedding for 4 people. Towels are only provided for guests staying 5 nights or longer but may not be used for swimming purposes.Guests staying 5 nights and longer are permitted to entertain up to 4 day-only visitors once off with the consent of the owners. Guests staying less than 5 nights may not receive visitors.
Visitors found sleeping over without consent from the owners will be charged R400 extra per person per night.
The hosts, Guy and Alta Roberts, occupy a granny flat on the premise. We guard our guests' privacy as enthusiastically as we do our own. We are happy to assist if called upon.
The lower floor, accessible for handicapped guests, has 1 single bedroom and a bathroom with a bath, shower, basin and a separate toilet. On the first floor, the main bedroom has a queen sized bed and a second single bedroom and bathroom with shower, basin and toilet. Both first floor rooms open on to the enclosed balcony with views of the ocean across the road. We provide bedding for 4 people. Towels are provided for guests staying 5 nights or longer but not for beach purposes.
The open-plan kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering with a 4-burner gas hob [+ kettle], microwave, fridge/freezer/ice maker, iron/ironing board, electric kettle, 4 slice toaster, mixer, an assortment of cutlery/crockery for 4 guests. The living area has an 8-seater dining table, plenty of seating/bunking for guests to unwind or gather around the large built-in braai. Because of the danger of veld fires, outdoor braaiing is discouraged but an outdoor braai and large Weber braai and a variety of braai tools are available. DStv reception with OVHD installed. Guests are advised to bring their HD or Explora decoder and smart card for viewing of choice. Uncapped complimentary 1 meg Wi-Fi available.

Located on the seaboard, Cyara looks down on pristine De Wets Bay and the whole coastal expanse from Stony Point in the West to Hermanus and Gansbaai in the East. Less than an hour's drive brings you to Cape Town and its beautiful surrounds or the Cape and Boland Winelands, the Overberg and the inexhaustible tourist attractions of the Western Cape. Beautiful Main and Silver Sands Beach Betty's Bay and Kleinmond's Sandown Bay Blue Flag beach, are a mere 8-minute drive either way.
