This was a great, peaceful getaway. Close enough to town yet away from the bustle. Perfect. Fishing was great, accommodation was perfect, couldn't ask for more. Will definitely be back.
We enjoyed our stay, the cottage is a no-frills establishment but had everything we needed. The dams were well-stocked with lovely, healthy rainbow trout and we were able to enjoy walks in the countryside.
The house we stayed in was nice and clean, big and felt so homely. I was also very happy about the kitchen's 'utensils'. Thank you, it was very nice.
The smaller cottage seems to be the stepchild, there are complaints from 2018 that are still not correct. The shower and bathroom do not have a curtain and with teenagers this is a problem. The double bed's mattress is over cooked, the geyser boiled over on Sunday and we had to turn it off. The oven's plates don't work, it only gets lukewarm. The wooden step on the porch is loose and the railing is lame. There is only a bread knife and 1 steak knife. No idea where the dams are as there is no map or directions. It's a shame, because it's a nice cozy place near the town and in a nice environment. Beautiful view and can be really very beautiful and nice to stay there.
Was exactly what we expected and needed.
We had a really nice stay. The house is well equipped and met all our needs. Except one. Unfortunately, the water pressure is terribly bad. One can hardly take a shower. While the water was warm, it came out excruciatingly slowly. Washing hair is almost impossible, so low is the pressure. It is so bad that we will not stay there again unless the situation is improved. It's a real shame, because if the water pressure was just normal, I would go and stay there for a week every year.
Most beautiful view, comfortable house with nice interior decoration. Just a pity the cold water pipes to the rooms farthest from the master bedroom are rusted.
Would only recommend that there is a map of where the three ponds are located in the house.
Very nice house! Well laid out and equipped. Braai room that can open or close depending on the weather is a winner!
Enjoyed the expansive views over the very special grasslands and marshes. The sound of Red-winged Francolins in the morning, and seeing a Serval right in front of the cottage!
It is always a privilege to meet the host during a visit, know that it is not always possible. Nature certainly contributed to a positive visit. We appreciated the farm atmosphere. Will definitely go there again in mid-summer. Be blessed.
Our visit to the farm was exactly what we were looking for for our family. Everyone could enjoy something, whether it was fishing, staying at home and reading a book or even exploring Dullstroom's town. Everything was close, convenient, neat and simple.
We had a wonderful stay and enjoyed the silence, as well as the fireplace.
It is a beautiful house and very comfortable and large. Everything and more that one needs for a group of 8 people. We had a nice stay and enjoyed it a lot. Just a pity the one bathroom's shower water was cold and everyone had to use one shower which is not great for 8 people to share one shower. The shower head that did have hot water needs to be changed, water sprays out in jets and it is therefore not a convenient shower for the cold days and evenings.
View is fantastic. The cottage's shower door needs replacement. My wife was stuck in the shower because of the door for several hours.
Dabchick Cottage. I don't think there is enough space here to summarize how nice our stay was. We stayed for two nights but felt like we had two weeks of rest. The cottage is surprisingly well furnished, with everything you could need already there, from firelighters and kindling with wood for a fire in the fireplace to a comfortable gas braai and chairs for sitting on the porch and socializing. There is breathtaking silence and a view of open plains that soothes your soul. At night, foxes called while we were stargazing ─ if you have a telescope bring it, we saw the most beautiful things. We will definitely come again!

Our time at Palmietfontein is a long weekend to remember forever. The house is perfectly set up for the cold, we spent hours every day around the fireplace if we couldn't spend it outside on the porch. House, linen and bathrooms are clean and tidy, kitchen has everything you need and we felt safe on the farm. It was a big treat for our family!
We can highly recommend Berryfields. We had a wonderful stay. The dishwasher and underfloor heating are so nice. The view is beautiful. We really enjoyed the trout ponds. We will definitely come again.
Very nice view with fishing facilities on one farm. 5 km outside Dullstroom, fireplace and a nice little house with coffee in hand, what more could you ask for.
The accommodation is well equipped with everything you need. Enough warm blankets and heater. The house is small but cozy. Lovely view and space around the house.
The accommodation is very nice. Even more beautiful than in the photos. Neat and spacious. Very safe. There is an alarm and electric fence. We really enjoyed it and really relaxed. Would easily stay there again.
Lovely 4 bedroom house that can easily accommodate 2 families with kids. The yard is fenced off with a big lawn and jungle gym. The house is very cleverly laid out with an amazing closed off patio for outside entertaining and lounge/bar for inside. The house and kitchen is very well-equipped for a comfortable long duration stay. There are some basic and minor maintenance issues that can easily be fixed (lightbulbs replaced, loose taps, electrical issues, drawer handles, garden maintenance). The house is just off the main road, so you can see some cars passing in the distance but you still get the quiet, tranquil farm feel. We would definitely visit again and we do feel it is value for money.

Dabchick cottage has everything to ensure a lovely stay, it is comfortably furnished and the fireplace is a wonderful treat in winter time. What took our breath away, however, was the giant (presumably) plum tree that dwarfed the cottage blooming in full mist-white bridal attire! We will definitely want to visit again.

The distance from town is exactly what I was looking for. Everything was pretty clean and everything worked. Until the weather played along so we could even light the fireplace. Will definitely stay there again. The tranquility of the farm atmosphere is wonderful. The stay made me feel different about Dullstroom. The town and surroundings are beautiful. Will only have to stay longer next time.

Dabchick Cottage is beautiful and has a good location. Just far enough from the town to be away from the noise. It has everything you need, and it's clean and neat. We felt at home and would definitely go there again. Would stay longer next time so we can go fishing as well.
We as a family got a surprising welcome. It's a neat, clean and fully equipped place that makes you feel right at home and where we as a family could recharge our batteries! It's also very nicely located and Dullstroom is just around the corner.
We found the cottage more than adequate for our needs and plan to return.
A peaceful location with a beautiful view, unfortunately you can hear the traffic on the Lydenburg road, but it's usually not really annoying. The house is well equipped and we enjoyed our short stay.
A very well appointed cottage with everything you need including plenty of wood for cold weather. A lovely view over the Dullstroom grasslands and a quiet and private situation. A new gas braai is available as well as all other electrical implements. This place deserves to be visited. We used it as a stop-over but would have loved to spend more time here. I don't know what it is like to fish in the dams as I am not into fishing. Birding could be interesting if one travels up the road to the reserve, unfortunately we were pressed for time and didn't manage to scout around too much.

Very cute place. Secluded and peaceful, yet not too far from Dullstroom. Nice clean and tidy. More than enough wood for the fireplace. Thanks also for the heater in the bedroom.
Dabchick Cottage is on a very nice farm just outside the town, the place is nicely equipped with everything you need, the mattress on the double bed does need to be replaced.
The location is very close to Dullstroom, very nice and would definitely recommend.
Lovely accommodation in nature, conveniently close to Dullstroom, everything spotless and comfortable. We will definitely stay here again.
Dabchick Cottage is the ideal place to rest.
We have traveled all over Mpumalanga and stayed at several self-catering units. However, this was disappointing for us. 1. The porch set was dirty and there were no tablecloths/place mats anywhere. 2. No light on deck, so we couldn't barbecue there at night. 3. Fryer in very poor condition. 4. No bowl/pan to make something in the oven. 5. Literally two tablespoons of diluted dish soap for the weekend - went to buy our own on Saturday. 6. Wood for fireplace damp and it was a great struggle to get a fire going. 7. No curtain or blind in front of bathroom window. 8. Shower floor in very poor condition. 9. Ponds for fishing opposite busy thoroughfare. 10. At all the self-catering units where we have stayed, owners at least came to say hello and ascertained whether everything was in order or whether something was missing - at Dabchick no one made inquiries. Missed personal interaction from the owners.
Cozy little house on a farm just outside Dullstroom with beautiful sunsets and cattle that come to drink water right in front of the little house. We had a great time with a glass of wine in front of the fireplace in the evenings. Really cute little place and will definitely go back again.
We got some great rest just a pity the dams are so far from the destination. Otherwise perfect.
