We have been to Paternoster several times on holiday and enjoyed the stay at De Oude Muragie the most. House has everything you need and the 2nd bathroom is ideal if there are more than two people. Beautiful view from the deck over the sea and the dune. Really enjoyed everything there. Can and have already recommended the cottage to friends. Do not hope that they will ever build the beautiful field dune. This makes the location of the cottage special.
De Oude Muragie really is rest for the soul. The back deck is fantastic to sit on and watch the sun go down. Literally a 2 minute walk and you are on the beach. Even outside on the porch by the braai you can see and hear the sea too, which was nice in the evening when you go to bed. The house has everything you need and our 2 small dogs also really enjoyed it and the yard is closed which makes it safe for them. We will definitely stay there again.

Oude Muragie is situated in such a way that you almost only have to sit on the front porch or back on the deck to see everything. The view is superb. Within walking distance of beach. Possible to walk for miles on the beach. As mentioned, the view is fantastic.
The Muragie offers everything one needs. It's small and comfortable. Walking distance to the sea. We really enjoyed our visit.

TV channels very slightly. No indication of channels available. Grill outside in the open. No shelter from sun/wind or rain. Fry very small. Shower has another shower curtain. Abandoned Photos don't always show everything.
Communication with the owner was excellent. We were informed of exactly what to expect. Duie unit is excellently equipped with everything needed for self-catering accommodation. The supervisor Charlene is a star. She took excellent care of us.

We use to 5/6 star travel experience's due to my type of work with SAA as Senior Flight Attended. Need something different to experience, well we got it all. A well equipped 2 x bedroom Cottage with two separate bathrooms and two parking bays if friends are visiting. Priceless memories.

The cottage was fantastically furnished. We especially enjoyed the fireplace in the cold evenings. There were extra blankets which were very well used. The place was clean and we were kindly assisted by Charlene during the time. View from the front and back porch was beautiful. We felt safe and it was wonderfully quiet in the evenings.
We would definitely stay at De Oude Muragie again - was such a nice break for our family of 3 (with a 2 year old). The house has everything you need!

The house was very nice and warm inside and the back balcony was so fantastic for a very nice background in our photos and a beautiful sunset. The village is small and only one shop to buy food. But we drove out to Vredenburg and Saldanha for sightseeing.
We had a lovely stay at De Oude Muragie. Lovely little house and location is perfect. We booked the place as we were looking for somewhere wheelchair friendly. There are steep ramps and getting through some of the doors were a bit of a struggle. That aside, we had a great time.

Alles wat jy nodig het in n perfekte sprokieshuisie met 'n dek vanwaar perfekte sonsondergange meegemaak kan word en 'n stoep en braai vir heerlike laataand kuiers. Soos Manna uit die Hemel. Hanlie en Charlene is 'n ware ster. Uit die diepte van ons harte sê ons Dankie vir die ekstra nag️. Ons 2 hondekinders het ook welkom gevoel en hul gate uit geniet️.

The house is a short distance from the sea, nicely located. The house is also very neat, clean and a pleasant stay, except for the field mice that make a nuisance of themselves and come running into the house. I would also perhaps suggest that the WiFi costs be included in the house's price, because it is a service that is offered for free everywhere. Otherwise, this is a very nice vacation spot and will definitely go back.

We were very impressed with the cottage. Was expecting it to be smaller but there was enough space and it didn't feel cramped. We were really looking forward to using the fireplace, but when we turned on the extractor fan and lit the fireplace we smoked ourselves out of the cottage. When we tried to turn off the extractor fan after the time, the whole house's power tripped. It was a big disappointment because the fireplace was one of the big attractions of the place.

We had a wonderful stay, and also the information that Hanlie provided regarding the environment, was very handy. Paternoster is a gem. Bonus was that De Oude Muragie is pet friendly, our two dogs frolicked on the beach.
We missed the plugs for EU plugs and no teapot. The rest was great. Maybe in these times of loadshedding a gas stove would be handy.
The lady who gave us the keys to the cottage grew up in the old fisherman's cottage that stood next door. She told a lot about the history of the houses.
Very neat, big en-suite, very comfortable. Suggestions would be to get WiFi and then the outside area in front isn't very kid friendly - railings too low. We wanted to be close to the beach and we were one road away. Very happy stay! Thank you.

De Oude Muragie is such a beautiful little house. Has everything and more that makes it convenient, a bath but also a shower. The stoepie has a beautiful view, the deck with an equally beautiful view. Would absolutely recommend and visit again.
Our family needed the quality time after a challenging health journey this year and De Oude Muragie is just what we needed to refresh. We thoroughly enjoyed the peaceful location which was within walking distance to the beach and the town. The place was clean and was equipped with what we needed for the weekend. I loved the quaint decor of the place which captures the essence of the fishing village. We enjoyed a beautiful sunset from the balcony. Charlene is really sweet and helpful. We would definitely recommend this place and would love to return.

We had a nice stay. My sone was able to bring his dogs along.
We were 4 adults and the only criticism was that the living area inside is a bit cramped. But for the rest we enjoyed our stay and made use of the outside braai every day.
Very neat place, love the tranquility. From the surroundings to the sun deck at the back is very nice for a sundowner if you look out at the sea.
Me and my parents were in Paternoster for 16 days. What an experience, people are kind and friendly and go out of their way to help you. Will definitely recommend the cottage to future tourists on the West Coast. You have to take a vacation in Paternoster to experience the West Coast.
We were really looking forward to the few days away and were not disappointed at all. The place was very neat and clean and had everything needed. A big plus for us was that we could take our puppies with us. They enjoyed it just as much! Hannelie was an excellent hostess! We will go again as soon as we need a few days off! I work at Eskom and my husband is an engineer on the Robben Island boats so we both work more than we have time to spend at home with our children. The getaway weekend was a chance for us as a family to spend quality time with each other. Our daughters 6 and 12 grow up so quickly and we get so little time for each other. We really enjoyed our time in Paternoster. Our house De Oude Muragie gave us that calmness and feeling at home. Everything in the house was neat and perfect. We barbecued inside as it was a bit windy but had no problems with smoke in the house. Hanlie and family, we thank you very much for sharing your home with us and we looked through the album a bit. It is so nice to see and know who the people are who have transformed the wonderful house into a family home where one can just go, relax, sit and laugh and make time for each other. Everything was neat. The biggest thing was the fireplace in the house not working properly. The chimney is the problem, because when one makes a fire, the whole house stinks of smoke. The housekeeper said this, but seeing as it has been like this for quite some time, I feel the owner should have already addressed it.

We had a lovely time by the sea - even though it was raining the whole time - the house had everything we needed for the weekend. The fact that our 2 dogs could come a long made for a wonderful family weekend. Everything was neat and good.

Stay was pleasant and unit was well equipped. But no locking facilities for vehicles. Had a vehicle burglary with electronic equipment stolen. Just take everything out of the vehicle.
We had a great stay, but found it just a bit cute. Especially the living area and visiting area. Would be happy if the place could get a good cleaning and tidy up, but hey, tastes differ too. It wasn't bad, but give the comments just to take it from good to excellent.

Everything you need in the cozy house, with a lovely fireplace. It's very well located in Paternoster. I also just have to mention that the fireplace does not extract the smoke sufficiently and that a lot of smoke comes into the house.
A beautiful 'house by the sea' with its own character and warm welcoming atmosphere. Very peaceful and quiet for those wanting to break away from the city and experience the warmth and freshness of a seaside town. Oude Muragie is really the Jewel of Paternoster.
A lovely house equipped with everything you need. The house is very clean and nicely furnished. The best of course is that it is only a short walk from the sea and town. We immediately felt at home. Would highly recommend it.

De Oude Muragie is an old restored fisherman's cottage with low ceilings and appropriate furniture and decor. We couldn't fault the cottage, location and security and feel we got good value for money at very short notice. The cottage is a family's vacation spot that is rented out if they are not using it. The kitchen is well equipped with a modern stove and everything you would need for a few days away. The staff in Paternoster were friendly and efficient. Although people warned us that Paternoster had problems with security, burglaries and aggressive street vendors harassing you at your place of residence, we had none of these problems and no one bothered us at the cottage with any sales. The neighborhood watch was also very visible and constantly patrolling the area. We have no complaints and will visit and recommend the area and specifically De Oude Muragie again.
The house is well located. However, there is no shade if you want to barbecue. There is also a nice place to sit behind the house, but there are no benches or chairs.
Cutely decorated and although the cottage is small, it didn't feel that way. Everything needed for a weekend, although it would be nice if there was a dishwasher. Not quite in the middle of the town of Paternoster, so wonderfully peaceful and yet close enough to the sea. Had a great time and will definitely go again!

It was the cutest little house and I can see why the owners rave about their place. It was nice and close and walking distance from the beach, Voorstrand Restaurant and if you are fit you can walk to the village and other restaurants. This was my first accommodation experience in Paternoster, but I will definitely stay there again in the future and definitely again at De Oude Muragie.
The house is very neat and nicely renovated. A nice braai place, porch and fireplace. Good security and excellent communication by landlords. The price was also extremely reasonable and the location very good. Would love to stay in De Oude Muragie again!
