Dog hair on the carpets. Floors were dirty. Worms in the bathroom. Room did not have a bathtub as in the photos.

On arrival I was given the option of two rooms. The room that was originally "booked" for me was so dirty that I refused to spend the night there. The manager/owner then took me to a second room. There the TV didn't work and the whole experience was extremely poor. She offered to book me into another guest house, but I mentioned that I would rather make my own plans. It was already late at night and I checked myself out without spending the night there. The owner offered to refund my money. I took pictures of the dirty rooms. My wife also manages m 4 star guest house in the Cape and I can say for sure that this guest house is not up to standard at all.

We were warmly received by a very friendly Zenobia. Our room was spacious, well equipped, beautiful and clean. Breakfast was really very nice and she really made a lot of effort. It was everything the website promised and more. I have noticed that they act immediately on any negative reviews and I can't say anything wrong about the place except, thank you very much. We'll see you again!
We stayed at DZR for 2 nights and the house is beautiful and clean. Rooms are private and very well appointed. Zenobia and Jean's hospitality surpasses everything. Because breakfast is not included we arranged in advance and both mornings breakfast was really delicious and freshly prepared. We also asked to enjoy dinners with them and we can really recommend it. The meals were better than a restaurant meal! You can make very nice food! We would definitely recommend DZR and stay there again ourselves. Fairly central and easy access to highways. Not too far from Midstream Medicross also for overnight stay.
Although additions are taking place, this has not caused any disturbance.
We were welcomed and made to feel part of the family, everything was perfect and way beyond our expectations. We will definitely stay there again when we go to Pretoria. Zenobia and her husband went out of their way to accommodate us and make us feel welcome. We unfortunately did not see them to say goodbye as we left very early and will recommend them anytime.
The grounds and rooms don't look anything like in the pictures. The rooms are not soundproof and balconies are not private. There was not information on the place, in the rooms or told to us on arrival. The pool was covered the entire time we were there (3 days) and only uncovered when the owners chose to swim. We did not have breakfast, when we went down in the mornings there was no one around at all. The aircon leaked all over the bed and when I reported it, I got an "Okay". No "Sorry, I will fix it". Not what it is advertised as on the internet at all.
The people are very friendly and happy to help, even if you have a small special request the morning before you check in. They made us feel very welcome. The food was very nice. The rooms were very neat and spacious. The place is well located with a big shopping center nearby.
The people at De Zoete Rust are very lovely and friendly. I really enjoyed it. Feel like you are away in the forest when you wake up with the animals there. I will definitely visit again.

The guesthouse and garden are beautiful. That's when you get out there! There are no directions from Gouwsstraat to the house - the house is in a side street (gravel path) from Gouwsstraat and there is no house number or the name of the guest house at the gate either. Luckily we saw a photo on the internet and recognized the building. Arriving at the gate, we had to press the intercom several times before someone opened the gate. A young man quickly came outside and indicated that we could park anywhere and just as quickly disappear back into the house. We had to call a garden worker to find someone to receive us. The same young man emerged from a room - not happy to be disturbed - and indicated that he did not know where his mother was. We had to wait about 10 minutes before the host arrived and soon after the hostess, who was finally able to take us to our room. The rooms are comfortable and spacious and the small fridge handy. We would have liked to give a better review as the host and wife are lovely people, but unfortunately first impressions last. The fact that there was no one to receive us upon our arrival and also a few minor annoyances that followed, makes it difficult to recommend the guest house to friends and family with confidence.
Accessibility good; property in a good location - lovely home and gardens. Only criticism is the shower head isn't too nice, really battled to get wet.

Spacious rooms, nice furniture, garden and swimming pool. This is a residential home (owners use home for primary residence). The rooms are rented out. The owners are still busy with renovations. There are animals (cats and dogs) in the house.
