190 guests' feedbackOn our trip we got asked when we were going to pay the 50% we owed on the stay. we had paid long before we left. . Then when we arrived the lady concerned happened to aarrive at the same time as us to see to a worker. we asked how to get in and we were told she had sent us the details by email ( not watsapp) we may have seen it but we dont always have access to wifi. so watsapp would have been better. we dont believ she was very friendly just trying to justify that we should hav known. The writeup talks about all the work put into the main house and one line on the original consulting room. We wre in the consulting room conversion very cramped like anafterthought and definitly not at all like the picture. the picture had a hot tub or something and a decent yard awe had no yard. The stoop was 1. 5 m wide and a small wire chair and table. We would not go back we stayed in older mor historic place in Mc Gregor where the people had made a greater effort. we never saw the photo below. right after the pot you look into the next door neighbours garage wall can send photos if need be.
The roofs leak in the bathrooms. The toilet was loose. You wouldn't expect a place that costs R3900 a night to have 1 ply toilet paper, but the house does.
Had a really nice stay, would have liked to stay longer. I especially appreciated the comfortable chair and couch - something that is not always available with overnight stays. Beautiful garden and surroundings. Our next (hopefully longer) visit to Prince Albert will definitely include Elfen Huisie again. Thank you very much for perfect service and stay!

Everything was very well organized Very central in the friendly town, we had a fantastic meal at an excellent new place: Prince Albert Café. Marion cooked gastronomically for us, feel free to go there: 0836571574. The restaurant alone is enough to visit Prince Albert!

Elfen House is a cute little place that is well equipped and meets all possible needs. Nevertheless, the overall cleanliness and maintenance is not up to standard and therefore 4 stars is exaggerated (rather 2/3 stars). On Monday morning, my wife and I were relaxing outside by the pool in privacy when the owner/staff arrived and invaded our privacy. This is completely unacceptable as no prior arrangements were made. Knowing that your privacy can be so easily violated actually put a damper on our little visit.
The lounge and kitchen area could do with updating. The bedroom and bathroom are both very nice.

Prince Albert is a beautiful town and Elfen House and Cottage made the experience even more enjoyable. It was wonderful to be able to switch off and get away from the city's noise. The communication from Elfen House and Cottage had been very good.
First of all, the directions were 100%, no hassle. The place was very fresh and clean, very beautiful, peaceful and private. We also enjoyed the town with its friendly holiday goers. The agent Rene van Zyl was always available and very friendly, will definitely visit again.

Everything was as advertised. Only "complaints" are there was a foul smell in the main bed and bathroom. Dead rodent in roof of sorts. And absence of effective insect management equipment. (No bug spray and swatter is useless.
Elfen Cottage was sufficient for our stay and the host went the extra mile to buy sparkling wine (to be reimbursed) on my behalf for my partner's birthday. The cottage was neat, bedding was comfy and generally clean. The few problems I have relate to comfort: Firstly, I let the host know that we'll be arriving very late (we got there at 9pm) and when we got there it was completely dark. The porch light would've helped a lot if it'd been on. Secondly, if you wanted a rusk, you need to buy an entire pack of rusks. Finally, we didn't know which restaurants were still open by the time we arrived, so we braaied at the cottage instead. The layout makes avoiding the fire's smoke impossible. Other than that, we had a good stay. Thanks.

The Elfin cottage is the perfect cosy cottage for 2 people. Everything inside is well appointed and spot on. The cottage has been stylishly upgraded with quality fixtures, fittings and furniture with very comfortable beds. It has been beautifully decorated to a high standard and reflects the charming owners' tasteful style. High quality soft furniture and cosy bedding, with large bath towels. Quality fittings in the bathroom and a nice hot shower soothes away a long day. The cottage has a lovely patio for a sundowner or cold beer with a clean braai and is surrounded by a beautiful garden. It would be my preferred place to stay in Prince Albert.
We were there for business and found the cottage very comfortable and would love to stay there again when we return.
We often use the website to book accommodation and can therefore easily compare different units in more or less the same price range. Elfen Cottage wins hands down the best prize - neat, comfortable, tastefully furnished and decorated and with all sorts of things that indicate a thoughtful hostess: fresh milk in the fridge, mosquito burner and spray in the room, double plug, enough power points in the bedroom, nice thick towels. Our stay was an absolute pleasure. It's just a shame we had to cut our visit short - because of fear of the Corona virus we had to go home earlier.
Elfen House is 5 star quality with great attention to detail. Every possible convenience we needed was at our disposal. A weekend is too short to properly appreciate this lovely home and Prince Albert's surroundings. What a wonderful experience. We can't wait to go back.

We have often visited Prince Albert. It is truly one of the jewels of the Karoo. Our meal at the beautiful Swartberg Hotel with their friendly staff was once again a highlight. Will definitely want to visit again.
From the moment we walked in we fell in love with this little cottage we called home for a few days. It was clean, had a lovely stoep and everything we needed. The hosts were awesome and assisted when we needed help. We loved the quietness, tranquillity and sound of birds sitting on the stoep or lying on our bed. We loved being able to be walking distance from all. This town is perfect to unwind and so too the sweet accommodation. We will definitely go back.

We had a wonderful time in Prince Albert and the cottage was comfortable and everything needed. Two extra, hooks in the bathroom will help as there is no place to hang your clothes after you undress. As well as hanging your next set of clothes as soon as you get out of the shower.
Elfen House is a typical example of the perfect visit/rest place in Prince Albert, the house's original wide walls shelter you from the Karoo heat. Pains have been taken with restoration of the original house and interior rounding it off to a perfect picture.

The history of the cottage is interesting. The cottage is small but has everything you will need to ensure a pleasant stay. The electric blanket on the bed was a welcome bonus as it was very cold at the beginning of the weekend. The house is nice and private and it is easy to walk to most attractions in town. If I can recommend something, I would suggest having their towel set up in the bathroom. There is a hanging area behind the door of the room, but it is not ideal for 2 nice big bath towels.

On entry you are welcomed by the stone cat. The house is very tasteful and has a very modern kitchen, air conditioning and a wood stove. Fantastic outdoor braai, pool and entertainment area for lazy delights.

Elfen House is situated in a quiet part of town. It is beautifully decorated. Would have liked for the fridge and drawers to be a bit cleaner, but for the rest it was absolutely a stunning self-catering choice in Prince Albert.

The description is misleading - in the amenities there is talk of, among other things, Afrikaans, swimming pool, barbecue area, Wi-Fi etc. However, the cottage does not have WiFi and had it been clear in the description, I would not have booked there. We discussed precisely there that my wife could work in peace, because there was WiFi. The cottage also does not have obvious access to the pool. I was looking forward to cooling off in a pool.
Elise sent us a clear map so we could easily find the guest house. The cottage is spacious, tidy and well furnished with everything you need. Good attention to detail with a.o. the history of the cottage, was a nice surprise.

Elfen Cottage is what we were looking for: Comfortable, tidy, well equipped (no frills with ribbons and bows and stacks of pillow cases), centrally located, quiet safe, shaded parking. Everything you need for a weekend or a few days is there. We are going there again in a month.

Wonderful accommodation and in the centre of town. Other guest houses could learn from Elise, we even got an SMS regarding fresh pastries at a coffee shop on one of the days we were there! We have travelled through RSA and this must rank as one of the best self-catering places we have stayed at.
This little cottage is well equipped and very comfortable. It is situated really close (walking distance) to restaurants and shops. We would highly recommend this cottage.

A bit clever, but if the company is good no one notices. A citronella lacquer might come in handy for the flies. This is a very nice cozy house, maybe consider heels in the bathroom for towels. Friendly service by owner. Nice central. Walking distance to town with nice eateries and galleries.
It was our first time in Prince Albert and we were so glad we chose Elfen Cottage as our cottage for the weekend. It is neat and clean and has everything you could need for a weekend away. Elise was extremely helpful and I would recommend anyone to stay in their cute little place, we didn't want to go home at all!

History: Restored consulting room of the famous Dr Jan van Elfen, author of a number of books on pregnancy and care of babies and toddlers. Rooms are beautifully furnished, tastefully decorated. Owner Elise is a pleasant helpful hostess. It was a good experience.

Prince Albert is a beautiful town, and so is Elfen Cottage. Ideal for a couple or single person, here you will be able to stay for a long time while exploring the surrounding area. Ideal for a getaway, there are also books for reading pleasure and even a few board games too. Really worth it, and judging by the feedback in the guestbook, we're not the only ones who think so.
