Just the most beautiful place. I made the error of presuming our accommodation had a river view. It does not. It has a view over sheep! We were told the view was a few 100 meters away and we could walk there, etc. But we arrived late and left early. Our hostess was also delightful. Nothing was too much for her. This place exceeded our expectations.
Hostess received us kindly. The place was clean and tidy. The bedding was clean and we slept well. The aircon was a plus.

Yes, we had a nice rest on the way to Gauteng to the Cape. The farm atmosphere with sheep and goats on the plot contributed to the tranquility. The proximity of the Vaal River contributes to the peace and quiet. The unit is spacious with a wooden deck that has a nice view over the plot.

Apart from the owners being friendly, everything was not what I expected for the money we paid for one night there. The bed was even worse. It was uncomfortable and there was no water to shower in the morning.
Separate cottage with everything you need except a pair of tongs for braai.
We were generously received by the hostess. The cottages are cozy and well furnished. We slept wonderfully warm. We ordered breakfast, which was served in our room. We will definitely stay here again.
It was a surprisingly pleasant overnight stay. wish I could stay longer, with peaceful farm feeling of sheep and cows. From the "cottage porch" one experiences the most beautiful sunset over the flow of the Vaal River. The hostess was very pleasant and helpful. Truly an "oasis" in the Warrenton area.

The accommodation is excellent, located in a very quiet area overlooking the Vaal river. A pleasant surprise was the farm-type atmosphere with some sheep and ducks around, and the dogs coming to greet you on arrival. The owner, Anthea, was extremely friendly, we had long chats with her. We would definitely stay there again!!

We were generously received, even the two dogs welcomed us and bid us a friendly farewell upon our departure. It's rural and good for the soul after a day's riding. The place is a real oasis, even the two dogs were friendly and made us feel at home.

Being on motorcycles the entrance road was a challenge as it was unmade and had huge areas that were flooded and difficult to negotiate.

Comfortable and affordable accommodation. My grandchildren thoroughly enjoyed the sheep and green lawn with swings after a long day in the vehicle. Thank you very much for the effort with an extra mattress for the children! We were also spoiled with milk and bottles of water in the fridge. We were very impressed with the neatly packaged tea, coffee and biscuits. We will use this overnight again if we take the long way.

The cottages are well equipped for a short stay. Had a very friendly reception and service. We had a great time grilling on a unique grill.
A very peaceful place to stay.
The place name should change to Black Ants Call. When we arrived the whole unit was covered with small black ants. They were in the toilet, sinks and even in the bedding. Poultry roam free in the area and slept on the stairs to the unit and also on the porch leading to the unit. Just trying to trample the poultry manure was a full-time job. The mattress on the bed reached the end of its shelf life years ago. Our stay was extremely disappointing and this place does the website's reputation no favors. Would strongly recommend it.

For the price it's nice to have air conditioning but it can't really pass for self-catering because the kitchen is just not adequate and the place had a bit too many small ants that bothered me even in my bed....little things but otherwise I will use the place as many times in the past

We were warmly welcomed by the hostess who immediately made us feel part of their farm/plot life with stories about the youngest lamb and ducks. Dinner at our time in our unit was a nice treat and with the view over part of the Vaal River and the remarkable bird life there was tranquillity and new things to experience at the same time.
We had a great time staying there. Unfortunately we did not meet the hostess. It's a cute place with everything needed, just a shame Warrenton as a town is in very bad shape which makes it hard for places like Fish Eagle to do business.

I know Warrenton isn't the best place to stay right now, but Fish Eagle Call is like paradise in the middle of nowhere. It is lovely to sit on the veranda and watch the birds and river. This was our second time there and would definitely recommend it. After the long day's drive from the Cape it is the perfect place to sleep. Good value for money.
We had a wonderful stay in the neat wooden houses. Roads in the town are indeed very bad.
We were received very kindly. The place was clean and tidy. Everything you need was there and the air conditioner was a breeze with the temperatures around 40 degrees. There is a rich variety of birds and we heard the osprey calling. The small breakfast is value for money. We had a very nice stay. We had to drive early and our hostess met us to give us an early breakfast. Would happily recommend Fish Eagle's Call.
Cleanliness was good, good service, and meals were delicious, but would not recommend for fishing. We had to struggle to get my husband's fishing gear to the river because it's through a sheep pen, gates that have to be opened and closed. Would recommend more for overnight stays.

We really enjoyed our stay at Fish Eagle's call. The chalets are situated in a lovely garden next to the river. We were fortunate to hear and see the fish eagle and quite a few other river birds. Access road on site is overgrown and can scratch your car. Car gate gets stuck and road to location is full of potholes.

We struggled a bit to find the place. We were booked in very fast and the owners went out of their way to accommodate our two bakkies and huge trailer. The place was nice and quiet, we slept very well.

We arrived late afternoon. Houses were tastefully decorated and contained everything we needed. Our group had such a pleasant stay and we couldn't complain about anything. The highlight was the sunset behind the Vaal River with a rainbow. Highly recommended.
Comfortable unit with aircon which is very essential during summer. Located next to the Vaal River in a quiet area. Abundant bird life for the bird enthusiasts. There is a swimming pool, but it was quite green during our stay. There were DStv, a fridge and a microwave. Only a shower, but that is sufficient. Critique: Any place that advertises itself as a self-catering unit should at least offer a two plate stove, pots/pans and glassware for the microwave. The only way we were able to prepare meals was to braai. Such units should rather be advertised as "semi self-catering".

After a long day of travelling on the N12, Fish Eagle's Call was definitely a pleasant surprise. Die free-standing wooden houses on the banks of the Vaal river is well furnished and very neat with secure parking right next to the house. A beautiful view over the river and the peaceful sheep and cattle grazing in the green grass renewed my soul and body. Anthea received me and made me feel at home immediately. At such a reasonable price I would recommend it to all of my friends!
