It was comfortable and everything was clean and tidy. They can put loose mats in the rooms because the floor is cold.
It was windy and cold on the evening of our arrival and we could not use the spacious covered patio area except for the neat braai facilities. The kitchen/dining room is a bit cramped, but originally we had a pleasant overnight stay.

Rooms very clean and neat, with everything you need. There is a nice boma area where you can braai; they supply the wood, spices, and even cutlery. Alternatively, you can braai at your own room. There is a nice bar area, and the pool was nice and clean. A very nice stopover spot with space for kids to ride bikes, etc.
Large, spacious and tidy units. The photos are an exact representation of reality. Carport for your car is a big plus right in front of your unit. Louise and staff are very friendly and helpful.

It's our second stay at the guest house. Fish Eagles Nest has the most beautiful view of the Gariep. The self-catering unit was clean and well equipped. The air conditioner was a winner and we had a great barbecue. We would suggest that there is some coffee and tea available, especially since most guests are staying overnight and not all traveling together.

This is a really nice place to stay for a stopover if you are travelling on the N1. The units are clean and well-equipped. The kids also enjoy the pools that are on site. The only suggestion I would make is a mirror close to a wall plug for us ladies that like to blow dry our hair in the morning.

Had a nice stay. One toilet was leaking at the outlet pipe. Carpet in front of toilet was soaking wet and smelled terribly of urine etc. stank Came to repair it the same day while we were washing out. Person or persons who did repairs, stole some of our cookies and dry sausage.

Great, very new setup and everything worked first time. Slightly strange arrangement of the basins in the room instead of the bathrooms, but that wasn't a real issue. Great to have access to a small swimming pool as well, and we were really treated well. Great stop between the Cape and Gauteng.

Modern, clean, affordable accommodation! We were received very kindly and checked into our unit. The customer service was fantastic and we had a great stay. Each bedroom has its own air conditioning which was wonderful in the heat, the mattresses and bedding were of the best quality and certainly contributed to our good sleep. The units have everything you need and if you need something, they immediately plan where they can. Ice and wood were available at the office which was very convenient. There are menus available and food is delivered to the unit. Definitely make a note to stop by Tjailatyd if you're hungry! We spent the night here on our way to our destination and again on our way back home and we will definitely stay here again.

Stayed over the night en route to Cape Town, broke up the trip nicely. The accommodation is prefab structures which seemed odd at first, but proved to be thoughtfully put together and impeccably clean. The unit was basically made up of three sections: a kitchen area, a main bedroom with a double bed, and a separate bedroom with two single beds. A single bathroom was situated between the two bedrooms. Would be very likely to use again as a stopover or for a longer stay to explore the Gariep Dam area further.
Perfect stopover between the Cape and Gauteng. Exceeded our expectations. Clean, tidy and comfortable. The clean grill and tongs neatly in plastic (ready for use) was definitely proof that the accommodation takes the guests' comfort into account. Bedrooms well equipped with comfortable mattresses and clean linen. Nice big shower.

Lovely place, the host was very attentive and went out of her way for us. The cottage is well fitted with air conditioners in every room, the kitchen has everything you need, and the braai grid was well cleaned. Will definitely stay here again.

Fish Eagles Nest met our need for an overnight stay. The linen is made of cotton and of good quality. These are asbestos buildings which were not so clear in the photo, but it didn't bother us.

There isn't really anything for kids to do. Just a pool, but the weather was not favorable enough for them to swim.
Fish Eagles Nest was an oasis on our return from the Cape. We arrived late but were given pretty clear instructions. The unit is beautifully modern with everything you need and is neat and clean. Will stay here again, maybe more than just one night.

We booked firstly in the rooms upstairs at reception which looked very good and compared to the pictures on the web page but couldn't stay there as we had our 2 sausages with us. The self-catering unit we stayed in because we had the dogs with us was quite recently redone and neat and clean, but cold.
Upon our arrival, Louise kindly welcomed us and upgraded us to a larger unit. We were very impressed with the unit. It has all the luxuries of a family home and it was very clean and comfortable. Everything was perfect and we were able to prepare dinner and road food for the next day with ease. We slept well and could start the rest of our journey the next day, well rested.

Rating is based on comparing this accommodation with others we've stayed at. From an aesthetic point of view, the Nest looks like the backyard of the lodge. It is functional but lacks the visual appeal of the lodge. I would recommend the lodge based on the little we saw rather than the Nest.

The highlight is the unit itself which is very clean and equipped with new, modern implements and furniture. The canopy for the car is very large. Management is very friendly and helpful. Located in a quiet and peaceful area with a view of the pond.

This was a perfect stopover for us on our journey back home from the Western Cape. The unit was very clean and had everything we needed. I would just maybe suggest some extra hooks to hang your towels on. The swimming pool and jacuzzi were also perfect for the kids to cool down in after a long day on the road. We unfortunately only got in after 8, but found the venue inside to be very upmarket and exceptionally clean. The outside of the venue can use a little bit of TLC - looked a bit sketchy to start off with - long grass, houses not in great shape, but beside that everything was great. Comfortable beds and a good night's rest. Pity we did not have a chance to drive around and view the dam, but we were very satisfied. Perfect for a quick stay.

It's a beautiful place that is very well equipped to sleep well. The reception was friendly and fast. Lovely to sit on the stoep in front of the unit. Children went swimming to cool off. We were there during a hailstorm and had no worries about our vehicle, the vehicle was safely under cover.
Pool was a bonus in the hot weather. Covered parking was a plus for us. It was raining but because the braai is covered, we could still hang out on the stoep and grill some meat. We will definitely stay there again.

We arrived late and Louise received us kindly. I didn't have milk for my children for a bedtime milk, and asked where we could get, Louise was kind enough to give us milk. The water was warm and we could take a nice shower. The place was beautiful and very tidy! Will stay there again for sure.

Our reception was very good. The residence is incredibly well laid out. We and our elderly parents absolutely enjoyed this place. Lovely parking space for your vehicle in front of your door. Everything was new and very neatly installed. Very clean and comfortable. We did however not have hot water, which happened to be a real dealbreaker on an icy night. However, I do acknowledge that this may have been teething problems in this obviously newly-developed place. I would definitely stay here again and hope by then we will have hot water.
We missed a electric blanket or hot water bottle as it was very cold during the night.
