Fonteinskloof is a beautiful farm situated at the foot of the Langeberg Mountains, 10 kms from Swellendam on the R60 towards Ashton. The magnificent mountains tower above the farmhouse and cottages which have been luxuriously renovated to provide comfortable accommodation. The cottages are nestled at the foot of the mountain and have awesome mountain and countryside views.
The 4 newly-renovated cottages are comfortably nestled among tranquil surroundings on an antelope game farm which is home to a variety of animals. Of the 4, there are three 2 bedroom and one 1 bedroom cottages. Each cottage has its own open plan kitchen and lounge area. The cottage floors are superbly finished in porcelain, ceramic or wood and the kitchens have granite or wood finished. All cottages have their own verandas with braai facilities. All cottages are self-catering and fully equipped. All have modern bathrooms with towels and toiletries. All have baths and showers except 1 cottage that has a ‘sit-in’ shower.
The farm has a swimming pool and a games room with a pool table for relaxation after hiking, cycling or playing tennis on the farm court which is not Wimbledon but ideal for an afternoon knock about. You may just want to relax on your stoep and view the bird life while enjoying your refreshment. If looking for adventure, visit Swellendam, the 3rd oldest town in South Africa. To visit this quaint town with its lovely old buildings or have a cup of coffee at one of the many coffee shops or dine at one of the restaurants is a real experience. Evening braais can be organised at an extra cost thereby enabling you to enjoy the fire and the farms setting while everything is prepared for you.
The farm presently boasts 10 different antelope species including bontebok, eland, springbok , nyala , and even a golden wildebeest male is to be found in the 50 strong troop of blue wildebeest. A game drive in the Land Rover game viewing vehicle is available. The cost of the 1.5 hour drive is R600 per family. Cycling on the farm or through the surrounding countryside is possible. There is also a walking trail which takes you on to the slopes of the Langeberg and has magnificent views.

25 guests' feedbackWe enjoyed the weekend. Unfortunately the weather was not good, so we will have to go again to see the animals.
We prefer to stay mostly in self-catering units when we go away. Our unit at Fonteinskloof had everything one could possibly need. Michael was a great host and went the extra mile to make sure everything was ok. We could easily contact him if we needed help/information. Our young daughters, 8 and 6 years old, were able to move around safely and made full use of the pool, even if it was a bit cool.
We really enjoyed it at Fonteinskloof.

There is also wildlife such as zebras, moose, deer, blue wildebeest, I would absolutely recommend the place.

House 1 has little wardrobe space for 4 people but otherwise we stayed lovely in a beautiful setting. Would love to stay there again.
Our visit to Fonteinskloof exceeded our expectations. Accommodation was clean on arrival, and welcoming. We enjoyed the game drive with our 2 year old and was amazed at the size and beauty of the entire farm. We will definitely be back for another stay, with more family/friends.
Really had a great time. Beautiful surroundings near Swellendam and surrounding towns. Facilities were excellent and the owner and manager were very hospitable and helpful. Game drive was also a highlight. Facilities are planned so that they can be used in all weather conditions. Environment safe.
Thank you very much Michael for welcoming us, we felt at home right from the start. We were a group of 8 people and simply all drove with my Isuzu double cab and in the back sat my sister and our friend Annelise and the beautiful Helga, and on the way to the eco-house after which Michael accompanied us, the three ladies on their knees, like dogs chasing carts, to look at all the game as we drove through the game camps, so much so that Annelise bumped her head against the hood of the van over the rough path to the top where the beautiful rustic eco house was waiting for us. It is then there that an incredible weekend of visiting and talking together and the wonder of the natural beauty awaited us. We were left speechless, correction, some of us were speechless, and then there were those who put everything they saw into words in a tone of surprise and wonder, wow look here you, look at the little horses, oh mother mother, and so on it went on. Thank you very much Fonteinskloof, it was truly an unforgettable getaway to a jewel of a place that you cherish at the foot of the Langeberge, we will definitely come to visit again.
