Fox & Hound Self-Catering is located in the beautiful little town of Dullstroom, on the Mpumalanga Highveld. The guest house is a comfortable 2-and-a-half-hour drive from Gauteng.

The double-storey house features 7 rooms suited to accommodate up to 14 guests in total. Each floor is completely self-contained and can comfortably house a family or group of friends.

The Helen, Chrissie, and Rachel rooms come equipped with 2 single beds with an en-suite bathroom that is fitted with a shower, separate toilet, and washbasin.

The Sonja and Anny rooms come fitted with a double bed with an en-suite bathroom. The bathroom is fitted with a shower.

The Jacqui and Elle rooms are fitted with a queen-size bed with an en-suite bathroom with a bath and separate toilet.

The communal kitchen is equipped with a stove, oven, microwave, tea- and coffee-making facilities, fridge, cutlery and crockery. The living area has a fireplace. There is also a communal braai area outside and secure parking during their stay.

"Conveniently located. Was neat and clean."

Electric blankets in one of the rooms did not work and one did not work properly. No TV.

"Wonderfully fantastic."

What a nice experience. We were privileged to have the bottom 2 rooms, with full use of the kitchen and facilities, without sharing. Fox & Hound is perfect for families and friends. The layout, furniture and decor speak of choice. Well done. You will definitely see us again.

"Nice stay."

Very, very nice place. The owner is very helpful and even came out in the evening to help with the hot water which was just a little slow. Will definitely stay here again if I'm in Dullstroom.

"Quaint stay."

The accommodation is quaint, clean and close to the main road so it was nice to be in a quiet location. We were however very disappointed as we had looked forward to a room with a fireplace as seen on the photos, however on the day we were due to book in we were advised that the firplace would be closed off due to bees nesting in the fireplace. We do agree with having them leave naturally, however, this was communicated very last minute and I cannot believe that this is a problem that suddenly occurs. The owner had also stated that bees are a 'problem on that side of town' which leads me to believe that they were well aware of the issue and just failed to communicate this for fear of losing a booking. The owners had tried to accommodate us by moving us to another room with a functioning fireplace the following evening which was a kind gesture however the disappointment had already left a bad taste in our mouths. We had not been delivered what was promised which was sadly disappointing.

If it is possible to use more signposts on the dirt road it will help a lot to find the guest house more easily. Although directions were provided on the email, it was once again difficult to locate the guest house as there was not much network availability in Dullstroom.

"We were 10 friends who slept over for my birthday. The accommodation is top notch! The braai area can be renovated to fit in with the rest. We did hang out late into the evening, which would not have happened if the rain forecast had come true."

"Beautiful place but would not go back."

As much as I want to say that I would go back, there were just too many things that went wrong, Jacqui was great and responsive but it's too little too late, the listing is premium and was sub-par at best. We were 4 couples that rented different rooms so we had access to upstairs and downstairs. 1. No knives and plates in a self-catering unit. Had to request it (which was provided the following day after notifying management). 2. Downstairs braai area is not rain-safe, as well as "leaking pipe/constant rainwater" making the ground around it constantly in puddles, which is not conducive for entertaining when people are moving in and out of the units. 3. Anne's room cold water tap in the shower has been grounded with electricity (resulting in a shock when feet are wet). 4. The entertainment area upstairs had a number of leaks coming through around the unit. 5. Rooms Sonja and Anne both leaked through the fireplaces resulting in a damaged laptop, all that was provided were towels. 6. Cleanliness: there was gum stuck to the side of tables, towels were stained by make-up, and fish moths were in bowls in the kitchens, and the braai area was filled with stompies. 7. Cleaning equipment like brooms and mops were not available until requested. 8. Globe was missing from the one lamp in Anne (which was mentioned on check-in). 9. Secure parking: is a gate that anyone can open without a key/lock. 10. The kitchen downstairs plug on the far right did not work. The only thing that made the stay great was the people.

Fox & Hound is a beautiful house that is tastefully decorated with loads of space for guests to stretch their legs and really enjoy their time in Dullstroom.

The self-catering unit will have to step up their security measures and also warn guests against break-ins. Provide guests with emergency numbers.

Great stay at Fox & Hound. The fireplaces and heater in lounge and electric blankets were also welcome as well as the heaters in the bathrooms. Beds were very clean and we slept well. Visitors should just note that the two queen-size bed rooms have access from an open porch in front of the kitchen / lounge area, which is inconvenient and cold in winter, especially if you want to make coffee in the early morning. Otherwise everything was excellent. Kitchen is well equipped.
