Only plus point was that we could check in before 2pm, apart from the fact that the reception was very cold. The air conditioner was not in 100% working condition. The shower was very dirty, we didn't even use it at all. The bathroom door hangs crooked and can't even close. Ants almost carried us away. Sink taps didn't work well either. Very noisy. Needs a lot of maintenance. Places can be made beautiful with little effort.

We were in M2. The mattress is a piece of wood and could not sleep. The shower was leaking water and the floor was full of water and slippery. I have complained to management about this and am still waiting for feedback.

On arrival we were warmly received, but our room (V1) was not yet ready for us. They were still busy. When we entered the room, the aircon was out of order. I went to report it. The lady at reception simply said that the aircons were only serviced last week. I highly doubt it. Then they just gave us a fan. Staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. Our toilet just kept leaking water, but otherwise everything was perfect.

It's always nice to stay at Gables Inn. But please look at the pool, because with children in the heat they couldn't go and cool off in the pool. The water was grass green and the air conditioner did not work in the room. We had to go get a fan just to cool off.

Everyone was very friendly and the room was neat and clean. There is everything you need for a day or two's sleepover. It just needs some grass and it would be great if there was an area that was closed, so the dogs could walk around.

Was very small, no space to move, maybe for only 2 people. The toilet was leaking, no space to make coffee, only on fridge and he was moving all the time, was not a nice place to sleep at all.
Unit was clean and tidy. Could do with a bench and trash can in the bathroom. Kettle did not work and there was no water, coffee or milk in the room.
Bedding was very dirty and bedside lamp was broken. My husband passed it on to them with no objection regarding the findings. Spiders everywhere in room and was definitely not cleaned. One single bed's leg was broken and was placed on a brick. Had to upgrade to luxury room (fortunately 1 and last one was available) otherwise we would have gone looking for other accommodation.
The facilities were adequate for the stayover, however the pool was not swimmable. Everything else was as expected for a short stayover to rest up for the next half of the drive.

All the beds have plastic under the fitted sheets, so no one sleeps well, it makes noise if you just take a deep breath. Hot water in bath (no shower) runs extremely slowly, and had to wash out bath before use.

Was disappointed to get to Gables Inn (in pouring rain, at 19:30), to find out my booking through LekkeSlaap was not on their system. Not sure who was a fault, but Gables Inn were kind enough to offer a 4-bed unit and also accept that my payment confirmation (through LekkeSlaap) was genuine. Had it been a busy holiday time, like before COVID, then I might have arrived to a venue with no space.

We had a basic room, just the necessities for a stopover.
The floors, sink and bathroom were full of dust and dirt. There was also no WiFi or DStv and no dishwashing liquid like in many other places. Was very primitive, definitely not for family maybe only for bikers and single people.
The best thing about the Gables is the location. Their "luxury" room is anything but luxurious. Bathroom especially the shower needs a serious renovation. The television is apparently "brand new" although it's clearly been around since 1995, has no remote and no channels are viewable. Although the room was cleaned. we did not feel 100% confident that the room was properly sanitized in preparation for Covid so we did our best to do this ourselves before unpacking. Nothing was done "extra" or beyond the usual that made us feel they properly prepared for the pandemic. Things like having plastic over key areas of the room and furniture making sanitizing easier. The toilet also kept on filling for hours. something that can be and should be fixed easily especially with the amount of time between holiday periods and the time the pandemic provided the hospitality industries to prepare facilities. Overall it was okay. Generally when you leave a location and say "it was okay" you will probably visit the place again. but most likely find out if other places are better than okay.
Conveniently located, easy access to the N1 and other facilities (such as restaurants, shops, services). Basic amenities, yet sufficient for an overnight stay.

Although I received a sms to remind me of my booking, upon arrival no info of my booking and payment could be found! Not a pleasant experience at all - unprofessional.
The toilet roll does not have a place where it is hung, it is just behind your back on the water tank. Just two bags of coffee and no more tea. It is for evening and morning for 2 persons. Then went to buy coffee myself. However, there are only 2 teaspoons which makes it awkward to keep one dry to scoop out coffee. Had to ask for a table knife to spread bread. Went to buy a bread knife myself. There is no indication anywhere that cutlery is available on request.

The place was very badly neglected but it could still pass if it wasn't for it being so dirty. There were cobwebs almost everywhere and the bathroom was in an absolutely terrible state. We weren't surprised when we found half-sucked candy on the furniture. Definitely will not stay there again. Would rather sleep in the car.

There were 3 requirements. One was aircon - it was one of those old built-in box aircon that was incredibly noisy and didn't work very well. Two were pet friendly - yes they are, but then rooms should at least be fitted with tiles and not carpets. There were many stains and the room smelled. Three was nice bed - the base of the bed sounded like it was falling apart every time you moved, I'm just over 80kg and wife just over 50kg. It was not a very good sleep.
Air conditioning just didn't work properly, otherwise very good facilities.
Pool was not very clean. The ladies at reception are very nice and professional. We enjoyed our sleepover. Thanks for air conditioning in the rooms!

The accommodation was ideally located close to the N2. The room was neat and comfortable with the necessary goodies for an overnight stay. The covered parking was most welcome.
Upon our arrival, my fiancé accidentally went to the wrong unit and unlocked another unit with our key. Our unit was not cleaned because we came across a garment. Was moved to another unit and there was a used bar of soap with paper wrapper in garbage bin.
Clean, everything you need just for sleeping and driving again. Could def do with a revamp. The furniture, TV and bathrooms are outdated.

The room is neat. The electrical accessories are very bundled and the electrical connections border on 'dangerous'. The mattress is quite well laid. The TV didn't work.

Na ons sleutel in ontvangs geneem het het my verloofde per ongeluk na verkeerde kamer gegaan en tot ons verbasing het ons sleutel 'n ander kamer wat bespreek en gaste in oopgesluit. In regte kamer was 'n vreemde kledingstuk so dit was nie skoongemaak. Ons toe op aandrang geskuif na ander kamer. Daar was ook 'n oop seep in vullisdrom gekry wat beteken dit was ook nie skoongemaak.
Unfortunately, the room was a disappointment. The furniture and bedding were old and washed. The shower head was broken and the window in the shower was completely black with mould. You can see there is no question of maintenance. Very weak!

Although the accommodation is simple, attention can be paid to maintenance. The bathroom does not have a towel rail, there is no toilet paper holder, the curtains hang messy and the table shakes terribly. The bed was slept through. It is very clean and neat.
But other than that we had a very good value for money stay.
Friendly staff, safe and secure area. The facilities were well maintained.
First of all, there was no hot water, only on inquiry did they turn on the geysers. Second, the air conditioner unit is so old that even turning it on didn't help at all. And to think that one stops precisely to rest and to relax so that one can travel on again. Then the TV also just works and without sound!
Had a good overnight stay, they allowed our little doggie on the second overnight stay. If I may make one little complaint, the last room we were in did not have a table where the kettle and mugs could be kept, we had to boil the kettle on the floor, and make the coffee on the tray that was on a small side table.
Think l will rethink my stay somewhere else, appliances and ratio to plugs do not match, plug in kettle, unplug TV etc. Toiletpaper needs a holder.

Rooms are big. Bathroom is very small. Because rooms are big and TV very small it is difficult to watch TV. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
I would recommend Gables Inn to others anytime. I forgot my pillow there and called reception. They were very helpful and my son picked it up the next day with name attached. Gables Inn is centrally located and very well appointed. Rooms are neat and clean.

We were happy with the reception and all round surroundings especially after coming on a long drive. Only one negative, the shower door was blocked by the toilet so if one was a large person would have to squeeze in. Very pleased that our dog could also stay!

Reception was spotty when they were informed the TV was not working. The TV is so small that you can hardly see anything and the volume didn't work either so there was no sound. The sheets had marks on them, there were no fitted sheets, so they were taken off all the time. The "trip switch" kept going off when the 'aircon' was on. The porch light did not work. There were no towels in the unit, although there should have been. To spend one night it is reasonable, but would not recommend.

It was a nice place to sleep over. Would have liked just a fitted sheet over the mattress and not a regular sheet. It was moving around all the time.
The shower is full of mold. Washed out pillowcases with hard pillows. Families with noisy children stay here, making it difficult to sleep. There are better places in Colesberg for roughly the same price.

We got there and everything was ready.
We were travelling back from Eastern Cape to Gauteng and glad that we had stopped as a storm came through that night and we were not on the road, thank goodness. It was neat, hot water available and the beds were comfy. The electricity was knocked out for about 2 hours but it came back on but it didn't impact us at all.

Linen was dirty with spots and marks on it. Shower was dirty, we didn't even use the shower. The overall impression was untidy.
The room lacked basic necessities such as a trash can. The television and M-Net could not be switched on because the required "multiplug" is not in the room. The picture on the television was very poor and one could not hear the sound at all. The light in front of the house was broken which made unloading difficult.

We arrived there at 13:40 on the Saturday afternoon. The room was then "just" cleaned. A smell greeted us upon entering the door, but we could not prepare what awaited us later. When we settled down and sat on the bed, we noticed a brown stain on the duvet. We assumed it was a coffee stain. I would have reported it later as well. In the late afternoon when it gets cold I drive to buy food. My wife stayed behind to get the room ready. When she pulled off the duvet there were dry blood splatters under the duvet. I immediately rushed to the room and pulled off the duvet cover. Immediately upon receipt. The woman gives me clean sheets instead of a clean duvet cover. Later the other woman who must have been on night duty came to the room. She heard what my problem was and saw that I didn't get a duvet cover. She then said she would bring us a blanket because there are no clean covers. Needless to say we are still waiting. No, if you want to make your wife angry, book your night there. Greetings, oh yes we traveled with four year old twins. Everyone had to fit on one double bed.
We've stayed there 3 times already. 2 out of 3 times it was very pleasant and clean. The third time the chalet's toilet was broken and water was running everywhere. It was also very cold that night and there were no extra blankets.

We travelled from Pretoria to Mossel Bay. We stayed overnight in Colesberg. We arrived late. Reception was friendly, rooms clean and beds comfortable. Will recommend it to anyone.
We had a really nice stay. Just 2 things: The sheets were clean but there were stains on. It does not look good, especially with it being white sheets. There silverfish is one of the beds. If these 2 aspects get taken care of we would like to stay there again. It is very convenient with the 24 hour service at reception, so we could come and go just as we pleased.

Disgusting, dirty, stinking bathroom carpets, mice running around on the premises, not as per photos. We rented 2 rooms for the night. We had awful service after a long drive, paid for a room with aircon and got one with only a fan. The other room's DSTV didn't work at all. We didn't get coffee or toilet paper.
Great stay-over and staff were very friendly.
Just right for an overnight stay. Nothing fancy but still met most of our needs. The white fresh bed linen and towels were a bonus.
Everything was good. Neat. I just don't understand why there is a microwave in the room but no plates, knives and forks. What is the purpose of the microwave? I also think that there can't be one cup per guest. We arrived the afternoon and would've liked to have a cup of coffee right away but then we wouldn't have had coffee early the next morning.
Not value for money at all. Had to pay R350 extra for aircon. No coffee, no receipt and gate stood half open all night.
Leak in bathroom that caused the entire floor to flood. When you got up during the night you had to walk on a wet floor. We accepted it because we only stayed one night.
For 1 night's stay over, it was perfect.
Parking is a bit of an issue, especially if you have a trailer. People block each other.
It is located close to the main road so you can hear the air brakes of big trucks all night long. The first night you usually don't sleep well and that plus the noise or rather loud music from a nearby night club, bothered you. They made noise until three o'clock. We got up three hours later and drove on.
The Gables is basic - unacceptable at that tariff. Steer clean if you prefer a little luxury. It is basic - room with beds and a bathroom with a shower. That's it.
The service was good and friendly. Pity there weren't any plates and cutlery in the unit.
Unfortunately the geyser didn't work so we didn't have any hot water. We reported it the next morning.

Accommodation near entrance to town and easy to find address. Surprisingly quiet even though it is located so close to town.
Unit for three adults booked, but only 2 towels in unit. Pretty basic and slightly below average.
It is not value for money. The TV was broken. The kettle's power cables were open. What upset us the most was the old and torn towels. Inside is out of style. There were mugs, but no cutlery or spoons. Will definitely not stay there again or recommend it to anyone. Does not meet the high standards set by LekkeSlaap.
Gables Inn won't see us again.
