It was a nice sleepover night. The resort is very neat. Luckily we had load shedding at 8pm and were able to see and appreciate the millions of stars. So, thanks for shedding the load at the right time.
We were only there for the night but we were all impressed with the whole resort as far as tended gardens, cut lawns, great swimming pool and a pleasant meal at the restaurant were concerned. Our dam view chalets were in a prime position and very nice.

We loved it. The resort is well suited for a holiday with the family and friends. While everybody can be busy with fun activities, you have everything around you on the premises: swimming, putt-putt, trampoline, tennis, walking, bike riding, and jogging. Braais scattered around for convenience, air-conditioned TV room/dining area.
Nice stay - Loadshedding just goes on longer than the schedule indicates. Information on arrival about this can help quite a bit.

Beautiful resort with very neat chalets. The dam is really breathtakingly beautiful. We also did a boat trip which was lovely and affordable. Will definitely stop here again on the way to the sea. We also visited the nature reserve and saw an awful lot of springbok.
Was an overnight stop and chalets have all the basic necessities one needs. Swimming pool is nice and big and children enjoyed cooling off.

First visit. Really surprised with the cleanliness of not only the charlet, but the resort's gardens and facilities. Resort management should be congratulated.
We did, but load shedding made it difficult to enjoy the pleasure of the air conditioner, so we got little sleep. Wasn't aware if WiFi was available, no signal experienced at times.
Not at all. Chalet was not very clean and short maintenance. The restaurant did not have most of the items on the menu.
Restaurant has almost nothing available on the menu. Chalet's paint peeling off, place full of spiders, shower and sink are clogged, and drying cloth smells.

Pitches with a power point are particularly nice, tidy, and are continuously cleaned. Ambulance facilities are painfully neat and clean. Activities during our stay were good, with Maddy keeping the holidaymakers busy. Putt Putt courts and cafe are very neat. Best pizzas. However, the Quenna Restaurant - Bistro is a different story. Wait 2.5 hours for a "toasted" bun. The pasta "specials (-50%) are trained with full price. If we didn't point it out to the waiter, I believe he didn't know about it. We are told that it takes a little longer because als is served fresh . Everything sure except the old oily chips that we finally got. No cutlery on the tables. Wait 10 min and then go and ask the kitchen yourself. While the managers are standing there, my table walks past and I ask him can we order from him. He then says no, he is not our waiter and cannot help. I ask the managers for help, to which she tells the waiter to help. He reckons then he never said he could doesn't help (behind the managers back). Sorry that the extremely poor service and unprofessional service of the bistro spoiled our last night at the resort. Our waiter also informed us that he is the waiter and chef, hence the reason for the long wait for food and drinks.Still I can manage the resort and thank every worker there for the hard work to keep the resort so neat and clean. You guys are great. (Bistro excluded. Your service is useless and unprofessional). Conclusion: Accommodation highly recommendable, neat and clean and can support cafe with its delicious pizza. If you want to experience extremely poor service and want to get your blood pumping, go "treat" yourself and loved ones at the bistro.
We stayed just for one night on our way to the Eastern Cape. It was comfortable and suitable for our family.
It was a great stay except that the pool area could be cleaner. Cigarette butts and beer caps lying around.
The chalets are very neat. The children swam and biked all day. Everyone really enjoyed it, and the activities that the resort offered were very enjoyable for children.

It is a very nice place, nice pitches and a beautiful view. The stars in the evenings are lovely. It is central if you go to the Cape to spend the night, but the people in the chalets make noise day and night, and no one quiets them down. I like tranquility, especially by a pond. I don't think I can recommend the place. The management will have to clamp down on the noisy people, otherwise they will lose many other holidaymakers.

Parking space, nicely placed, facilities are clean, pool cold, but clean. Putt-putt course is pretty clean and the trampoline is good for kids. The resort just needs to pay attention to guests in rondavels noise at night and access of taxis that drive around the resort.

The photo of the bedding and what was on the beds is incredibly different, the bedding on the beds was creepy. My husband woke up with insect bites on his body that he certainly didn't have before. The master bedroom's bathroom's shower clogs so you can't shower. The same bathroom light doesn't work at all. The master bedroom toilet was used for more than urine and it was not properly flushed. I understand it's not 5 star, but basic amenities and hygiene should be in place. We will never use Gariep Dam's Forever Resort again and for sure tell people not to use it because of the hygiene as well as the quality of the accommodation.
Everything was 100% at Forever Resort Gariep. The only problem was the water in the unit, when the faucet or toilet flushes, it makes a lot of noise. One is aware throughout the night even if the neighbors open taps or flush. Assume it's the water pressure. (Unit 41). Places are nice and spacious. Lovely view of the pond!
One overnight camping stay.
We were early and hung out in the caravan park where they called us when our cottage was ready. Friendly service and helpful.

Our accommodation was indescribably beautiful and nice. Negatives, I tow my boat 750 km only to find out there is no jetty to put the boat in the water.
Gariep is very beautiful and nice and cold, but the people in the houses are heard until the morning hours where they make a lot of noise and nobody stops them. The noise unfortunately moves towards the water's side where we camped. I have to say the campsite is very nice and the bathrooms too, but the second time we camped there there were stumps lying around. Where this, mind you, is not the resort's fault I must add. The restaurant is also very cute with very good food. Would also just suggest that you should maybe heat the pool water a little lukewarm. Otherwise, the surroundings are incredibly beautiful.
My only negative comment is that the ablution is quite far from some campsites. Other than that, everything was great.

The resort is old and neglected and maintenance is not done. 'Bridge' over children's pool is broken, children can get badly hurt. Pieces of the broken down cement lie in the water. Little house needs attention, bottom door to porch is closed with a spoon! Cottage no. 36.'s hallway tiles in the bathroom were broken. The house is dark. At least very clean and bed slept well. Photos are misleading. Restaurant is just a little bit. Would think they would have a generator. Not even an oil light during load shedding. Just stuck a candle on the table. We will not stay there again.
We arrived earlier than check-in and were helped with a smile. I was so glad there was a facility to wash clothes as my youngest got car sick, so I could easily wash the dirty clothes.

What a fantastic surprise when we entered our little "home-away-from-home". A fantastic view from our veranda. So lucky to be there after so much rain filling the dam to "over-the -brim" experiencing so many years of drought! We were able to shoot fantastic photos of the "waterfall" flowing over the dam, including a the presence of a beautiful rainbow!
The only thing we were not so happy about is that the only bathrooms for all the campsites are terribly far from most of the pitches. Heard other people complain about it too.
Friendly staff as well as neat campsite, will stop there again if I pass by.

Was pleasantly surprised with the cleanliness of the resort. We had a good night's rest. Had a great meal at the restaurant. The staff certainly take pride in their work. Well done. Only problem was the toilet light in chalet no. 4 was outside operation. And when someone takes a shower, water drips from the toilet light. Would definitely recommend Forever Resort Gariep.
We really enjoyed our visit at Gariepdam. Accommodation was value for money, neat, spacious and clean. Really a pleasure to spend the night there.

The photos as advertised and based on what I booked on the website did not match what the resort gave me. They claim they are old photos and not of the place I booked. I had to pay R400 more to get a place that looks like the picture (rondavel) instead of a cottage.
We stayed in a recently upgraded unit and it was perfect. Had a great view over the dam.
Lovely chalets serviced daily, lots to keep the family busy and the kids entertained! The on site restaurant has great value for money, delicious food and excellent service. Best Karoo lamb chops we've had!
We only booked one night as a pit stop for a longer tour. The unit we stayed in was of excellent quality. The resort itself doesn't compare to the other Forever Resorts for me.

Gariepdam is a beautiful environment with the friendliest people, everything is well maintained and we had a great time relaxing.

I will like to visit the venue frequently. The hospitability of that staff is very good.
I thought I was booking a detached unit, it's unclear on the website. This one was part of a row like block of flats right next to each other. You hear your neighbors shower and unlock doors, sounds like they are coming in on you. The unit is very nice with rosewood cupboards and granite and a beautifully tiled and modern bathroom. Nice leather sofa in the living room with a lovely view of the pond. There is also a braai and garden furniture. It was very windy the time we were there, we couldn't sit outside or barbecue. We were disappointed and thought my husband could fish from the lodge and that I could swim, but there is no heated pool. The unit was clean but I had to ask for a clean blanket - can't say here why. So it was awful. There was also a large noisy group on the resort.

Stayed at the luxury campsite overnight on the way to Cape Town. The campsites next to the water were under construction and not available. However, it was nice and the resort is beautifully taken care of, neat and service was very good.
We were booked into the luxury chalets and the accommodation exceeded our expectations. It has been relatively recently built with quality finishes. The electric blankets on the beds were very welcome on a cold Karoo night. The highlight was the view of the dam itself. Although the resort's restaurant itself was closed for renovation, good meals were served in the conference hall by friendly staff.
It's the ideal stopover with the added bonus of a stunning view. The restaurant on the premises is also very comfortable.

The location is amazing. The units and equipment is in a poor state. I was very disappointed. Furniture around the pool is very old and badly faded as well as dirty. The unit was spacious, but the beds were old and none of the doors leading to the outside area worked. The curtains had holes in them and are grey from age. The furniture was very dated and it appears to lack any form of maintenance. The shower also leaked completely. The state of the unit and facilities put a damper on our stay. The views are beautiful. The on-site restaurant did not have many of the menu items available either.
Once again it was a pleasure to camp there. Everything is well maintained.

It would have been nice if the management mentioned that their pools are out of order due to maintenance at the time of booking. Many thanks to the staff of Gariep who accepted my booking, even though they could not track the booking and payment.
In winter they need to ensure that extra blankets and heaters are available. 1 door to the unit did not lock, their maintenance crew must ensure they fix defects prior to clients checking in.

We arrived earlier than the check-in time. We decided to eat in the restaurant where we waited almost an hour and a half for the food. Just after 3 hours we got the keys to the chalets. When we arrived at the chalets, the staff were just starting to clean the chalets which were very dirty. I asked to speak to the manager who apologized as they were very busy and got 2 more people to help. However, the chalets were not thoroughly cleaned when we were finally able to enter. We have already slept in the caravan park, but will definitely not book the chalets again. In general, the resort was in a worse condition than the last time we stayed.

Was really surprised by the great chalets, would have liked to stay there longer.
Breathtaking! Our cottage was on the dam with just a railing in front. To the left there were little sailboats on the water. Best views and sunset! Accommodation very clean. Large, beautifully tended estate. Paradise for children!

Time really enjoyed. So beautiful to see children running around, laughing, fishing and cycling, without parental supervision in the dark. So lets think back to how I grew up.

The resort is beautiful with great facilities. Unfortunately we arrived late and had to leave the next morning which meant that we could not utilize all the facilities. The chalet, however, was well equipped and super clean. The only problem we had was that we arrived after the reception was closed for the day and our reservation was not on the list. It took some sorting out with the people at the gate.

The service at reception was quite slow.
We were simply very impressed with the resort at Gariep. The chalet was beautiful, and equipped with everything needed. The pools, trampolines and pit-pit are in good condition. Next time we will stay longer.
We stayed at Gariep, a Forever Resort for 1 night. Th unit was neat and well equipped. During the night there was a burglary at the unit next door and after that no one could sleep again. Our own unit's bedroom window, kitchen window and sliding door showed signs of previous burglaries, for example glass not matching the rest and broken window that was fixed with an extra piece of glass over it. The help of the resort's staff that night was very poor. The police confirmed that our unit and the one next door were frequently broken into. We wouldn't stay there again.
Wait very long to book in. Shower was broken. Toilet and shower stunk. Noise is tolerated until the early morning hours so stay somewhere else to rest before travelling further.
After the trainee at reception made a mistake with our vehicle permit, no excuse was given and there is no WiFi in the restaurant.

We have also stayed at Gariep Resort before. Each time it had been a wonderfully relaxing time. Chalets are well appointed, for one night or a week or more. This time we ended up with a "home trek", and the friendly staff moved us to another chalet that could better accommodate the trailers, cars and trek. Thank you very much, Gariep Resort!

Unit 36 in very poor repair. Reported some faults to managements.
We visited the Forever Resort at Gariep Dam in the middle of winter so the resort was almost deserted. Regrettably the drought had caused the water level to drop drastically, almost to the point where the harbour is mostly empty with boats stranded out of water - nothing like the picture on the website. We had hoped for a boat trip on the dam but this was not on offer at the time we visited. However I think with normal water levels and during the holiday season this resort should be excellent.
It was bitterly cold. The hot shower is a winner and the electric blankets were lifesavers.
Fully equipped chalets with a beautiful view of the dam. Safe for children and relaxing for parents. The chalets are nice and cosy, especially in the winter!
We were pleasantly surprised with the cleanliness and general impression of the resort. The accommodation is very neat and clean and has everything you could need.
We use Gariep quite often and can never complain about anything. The last time, however, there was a problem with the hot water cylinder which they couldn't fix while we were there. Mr Adriaan Harper contacted me personally and apologised. He also gave us a free prize. The service at Gariep is very professional and I will always stay over there.
We stayed at Gariepdam in winter, so the dam was low, however our stay was cold but lovely, the place was clean, well kept, staff was friendly. They quickly tended to a problem we had with a blocked drain. Next time we will stay longer.

The resort offers very good value for money, and is ideal for a family with enough distractions to keep the kids entertained. Especially nice. Can highly recommend it.
People (day visitors) who visited the pool leave their rubbish on the grass. They are very noisy with their music and have no respect for fellow human beings and swim in plain clothes. In the evening there was no lighting (street lights) in the caravan park and it was very dark. The restaurant is a big plus with friendly people at reception who are very helpful. Evening was peaceful and slept well.
We were very tired and found the facilities sufficient to rest for the long journey. Restaurant meal very convenient in the circumstances.
Wonderfully relaxed for the night and had energy for the next day's further journey.

These campsites all have electrical power points and are serviced by 2 neat ablution facilities. All the sites have power points and require a male caravan plug for use, which is available from the shop and reception. A maximum of 6 people are permitted per site. No pre-allocation of site numbers can be done, all stands are allocated on a first come first serve basis. Only suitable, recognized tents, caravans and motor homes are allowed to camp in the caravan park. Sleeping in cars and bakkies will not be allowed.
