The place was nice clean and tidy, exactly as the photo shows. The view was spectacular. Too bad the ceiling isn't soundproof, because the people who stayed above us were walking back and forth and moving furniture all day and night.
The accommodation is in the heart of the town, with a beautiful view to the mountains.
Unit is very well appointed and has been surprised time and time again. Provision was made for cold evenings and the dark hours of load shedding.
Cozy and nice stay. The fireplace makes it nice and warm in front of the house and with load shedding, the fireplace was ideal for Clarens in the winter.
We had the most wonderful time at Golden View Luxury Self-Catering. The view was out of this world and the sitting area kept us busy with a crackling fire that burned all evening. Would highly recommend!

I loved our stay here. The house is beautifully decorated and extremely comfortable. My favourite spot was the patio looking at the huge weeping willow near the fire pit, and looking at the peach blossoms. The linen was lovely, beds were so comfortable and I was at peace here. Place is very clean and tidy with a very nice view. All the amenities one needs are there. The only downside is the house above you you can hear everything below and it can be very noisy especially if they are not quiet after 10h00.

Rustic Red is a beautiful room big enough for two. We would have preferred to have a television just to be able to lie down and relax in the evening, but nevertheless we had a good time and were well welcomed by the Golden View team.

Golden View is far enough from Clarens' square to find tranquility, but close enough to walk. The apartment above the Red Studio did make a lot of noise with the people walking around, but otherwise what a great peaceful weekend.
2 Families with 4 adult children had a lovely stay. Plenty of room for everyone, clean, neat and very friendly staff. Sunny rooms with nice views. The fireplace worked overtime. Very good braai area too.

Had a lovely stay. Were 2 families with 2 children each that stayed, and could have a good time inside. Well equipped against the cold too. All complaint was that we could hear the TV quite loudly from downstairs where we had to sleep.
Our SatNav took us to this venue through the 'wrong' side of town. What a delightful surprise when we arrived!
The container home was quite different, the north sun was shining in the unit for the cold winter days and was conveniently within walking distance of the town. No TV, but the kids also learn that TV is not everything. Large enough for a family of 4 and the two single beds for the children were ideal.

Although the Rustic unit is clean and pleasant (inside), the location is unacceptable for the price and general safety of visitors - especially if the owners do not inform intended visitors ahead of time that the accommodation is located right next to the informal settlement. The view from the kitchen window offers a wonderful view of the mountains (if you look to the left), but on the right you get the view of the informal settlement and needy residents (not ideal for someone who wants to enjoy his vacation). Furthermore, we feel cheated by the directions given. As per given directions, you drive through Clarens to get to the unit (possibly to avoid the informal settlement and its proximity to Golden View). But if you follow the GPS coordinates, you drive through the informal settlement to get to the unit. A very different experience if you come from the other direction. Furthermore, the unit is a converted garage, with another unit above you. No problem with this if it is clearly indicated on their website, but a big shock when you get there and what was supposed to be a peaceful getaway, turned into a noise of footsteps and running children - all night long. Furthermore, it was requested that we set the alarm on and off, but there is no indication whether the alarm is on or off. This resulted in the alarm going off all the time, and the security company having to come out to the premises unnecessarily each time. Because of the above and because we felt unsafe, we went home a day earlier. This leaves the question: how reliable are the online reviews of the particular accommodation and those who market it on their website.
We stopped for 1 night on our way home from the coast. It was so nice in the Rustic Red studio that we didn't want to drive the next day! We were particularly impressed by the view and unique decor. We will definitely visit again and for longer.

The beautiful view was just a bonus. Here you get more than just the necessary cutlery, on the contrary, you can choose from various glasses, plates, etc. Something for every occasion. My sister and I stayed in the Rustic Red Studio for 3 nights. The communication and service was very good since we arrived and the room exceeded all of my expectations. A cosy studio unit that encourages you to put aside technology, day-planners and to-do lists and give yourself a break from all of the bustle. It's clean with a comfortable bed and enough kitchen utensils and accessories! We will most definitely book here again!

Golden View Luxury Self Catering was the perfect first stop on our honeymoon! We stayed in the Rustic studio. Everything was clean and tidy, and the place is beautiful, modern, full of character and equipped with everything we needed. Although the owners do not live on site they gave us easy instructions to obtain our room keys. There were daily cleaners who kept our rooms tidy and washed our bedding. They were very helpful and friendly and also helped us wash our own clothes. The kitchen and porch have a beautiful view of the Drakensberg, and especially the sunrise over the mountains in the morning. We spent quite a few mornings on the porch. The municipal road that leads to the cottage is a dirt road (like the rest of the roads in Clarens) and was slightly washed out, but not too bad that we couldn't pass it with a small car. The owners were more than willing to help us over the phone with advice on attractions and restaurants in the area. We spent a lovely few nights at Golden View and it was hands down one of the highlights of our honeymoon. I would recommend the place to anyone, especially a couple looking for a peaceful getaway.

I was in the red room, or rather 'studio'. It was so cold you couldn't sit outside to look at the mountains, because from inside on the bench right next to the heater where it was nice in front of you you only see the blue sky through the window which is too high. The beautiful photo was taken from outside. I would have taken one of the other rooms instead, I think this one is a bit cramped.

It was a pleasant stay although time passed too quickly. We stayed in the cottage and were so comfortable. The decor is incredible, the bed is so comfortable, and the view is breathtaking. It feels like a home away from home and we had such a fantastic weekend there! The place is way overpriced for what you get. There is a problem with the shower outlet as well as the gas geyser which did not work.
