158 guests' feedbackPhotos for probably 15 years old. Awful accommodation, dirty dirty dirty, nothing works! No man can accept and pay for it. Tried several rooms but everything smelled so bad. All guests complained not only us. Beautiful bay and location, but worst accommodation I have ever stayed in. Had to stay 2 nights, but after 1 night we left.
Beautiful place and incredible scenery, but difficult access roads and safety on walks outside the resort. Motorists should be warned that the road is preferable for vans or four-wheel drive vehicles. Our sedan had a hard time with potholes, dirt roads and steep treks. Outside the resort, you are mobbed by local people who want to help you with everything. No is not accepted. On the way, some lead and others follow you. It makes you feel unsafe and prevents you from really enjoying the trip. Resort may need to control it better and have guides screened by them than arranged at reception. Thus more work will be created and standard fees will be paid.
The staff is very friendly, and the resort allowed us to check in at 10 am and granted our sea view request. So in that regard, the service was friendly and attentive, and the location was perfect. However, the rooms and hotel need a bit of attention, but I can see it would be difficult given the secluded location. The children's room blind was broken, so their room was full of mosquitoes, and the walls had some black mold. Our cleaner was really lovely. She brought us new towels, gave us some Sunlight liquid for the dishes, and cleaned really well. We really enjoyed the experience, the hotel swimming pool with a slide, and the play area for the children. Overall experience was lovely, thank you.
We had a nice stay. The surroundings are beautiful and every day's walk was a highlight.
Overall it was a pleasant, relaxing stay. The staff were so good.
Our stay was lovely. We had a nice unit overlooking the sea. I will suggest that the accommodation have their own guides to take people to the Hole in the Wall.
The resort meets all needs. Chalets are fully equipped and serviced daily. The braai area is also serviced daily. Everything is in working order. The place is very neat and the view very beautiful. Towels are a bit old. Access routes may be a bit poor and there are no signs on the roads. A beautiful restaurant is available.
Place is very neglected.
Would not recommend. Place is dirty and smelly and the service is terrible.
It's a sad run down place where everything is falling apart. I definitely wouldn't recommend it to anyone. I'm surprised by the high ratings on Lekkerslaap as they definitely don't agree with our experience. I checked the Google ratings afterwards and they seem far more aligned with our experience. If I saw that before the time I probably wouldn't have booked. Everything is broken, the towel rails, the toilet roll holder, the stove, the blinds, there's a smell of something dead outside, there no plugs in the bedrooms and the list goes on of problems. We couldn't get in the gate at the back to our house because the cleaner still had the key (that is after you can only check in at 3pm). We didn't have towels and only some pillow cases when we got there. Then at about 17:30, they brought towels and pillow cases much to our relief. There was only 1 spoon in a 6 sleeper cottage. Then the next day, they brought another 4 without us saying anything, so that means they knew there weren't enough in the first place. If you walk around outside the resort there is always someone hassling you for something and just making it uncomfortable. The only positive is the view.
It was great but there was no internet.
We stayed comfortably, the place was neat.
The opening hours are not accommodating for early travellers.
Hole in the Wall Resort was not what we expected to find. From an overflowing septic tank to beer bottles in the parking area. We could watch the rugby here and the food was delicious. The bed was comfortable but didn't feel very clean. Bugs fell from the roof on us. The shower was awful, taps broken and the grout black. You could walk from here to the Hole in the Wall, but we were afraid we would be robbed by the people who escort you there. We drove there the next day. We will not see this place again. To get here, there is a horrible dirt road through an informal settlement. I have my doubts about whether a normal car would come out here.
It was incredibly fun. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. From management to gardeners. Maryke you can be proud of the staff. Everything neat.
When booking our stay we were informed that the road there is bad. But no, if one uses Hole In The Wall as a destination on maps it is quite a pleasant drive, even the last part gravel road and even with a small vehicle (Hyundai i20). The units are not new, but very well-maintained, well-equipped and serviced. To experience the Hole in the Wall and its surroundings was just fantastic. We met up with a guide, Joseph, as we started our walk and what a joy! He has shown us so many of the small wonders that we would have missed going alone. I would certainly recommend Hole in the Wall to anyone who wants to have a wow experience in nature.
Very pretty. Friendly staff. Value for money.
Showers were clogged and blocked. We complained to Hole in the Wall staff. Eventually, on the second night, the shower overflowed and water got into the unit - dining room, kitchen and sleeping rooms. Overall, the service was very poor. We asked to see the manager and this did not happen. I was told to use the after-hours number. I tried 3 times and the phone did not even ring. I have records to prove this. I sent an email and eventually, we got a response. I asked for a refund as there was no value for money given the huge amount paid. I had taken guests there and this was just a very frustrating experience overall. Secondly, lights were not working in the bathroom. This only got fixed that evening by using another fitting from under the stairs. The cords from the fitting under the stairs were left exposed and were live. This is a major safety breach. My request for freezers was not honoured until I insisted on the freezer. They only brought one. On the second day, after my complaint, they supplied the 2nd one. As I said, there is very little value for money and poor management overall.
Our rondavel was cosy and had everything you needed. Our view was a bonus. The double bed mattress however needs replacing as it dipped in the middle. Otherwise, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be back.
The staff can be more friendly, instead of just giving you the keys and you see your way to your room. The rooms were big but they need an upgrade, the furniture is old and makes the rooms seem like they are not clean. The road was horrible but they did mention the gravel on the booking.
The roads are very bad, you will have to make use of a bakkie or SUV.
Nice location, would be nice if there was a shop open to sell the basics.
We had a rondavel. The accommodation was sufficient to experience the HIW.
Staff was very very friendly and helpful. Excellent service and the food was very delicious! We all went for massages and that was very good!
Under new management, you can see they are trying to renovate everything. Stay a bit expensive for what you get. It will cost more than just paint to renovate old rondavel.
We had a nice stay and enjoyed it. WiFi could improve. Access road is particularly bad. 2 hours to drive 50 km.
Unfortunately, the roads getting there were the worst I've ever driven on. They could've said only drivable with 2x4 or 4x4. But other than that, the service was great and place was clean and safe.
It was nice to switch off for a few days. There were many "locals" hanging around at the resort, ready to sell or "organize" anything for you. The unit we stayed in needs some work. There is a lot of mold and one of the windows in the living room is broken. There was also a problem with the WiFi. The beds' mattresses were also not nice to sleep on. We understand it's hard to find goodies in the middle of nowhere. Overall we enjoyed our time at the resort.
The chalet was neat and clean, the staff friendly and very helpful. We had a great time.
I enjoyed my stay at Hole in the Wall.
Close to the beach and walking distance from the hole in the wall. The accommodation both inside and outside is definitely due for some upgrade, particularly in summer when humidity is high and no air conditioning is available in any of the rooms. We struggled to find the place as no direction signs were available.
We enjoyed the service as well as the location of the resort. However, it rained for three days and our unit leaked in the bedrooms, lounge and kitchen. We were constantly moving our beds and belongings around to ensure they do not get wet as well as sweeping water out that was pooling in the lounge. Reception was informed but no units were available for us to move into and nothing further was done.
Haven't had water in a long time and if you have it's a muddy mess, take lots of bottled water with you. Resort needs an urgent upgrade. French drains in front and next to unit overflowed and smelled, reported. But it keeps happening. Kitchen cabinets are done. One of the bathroom doors wouldn't close properly because the floor had sagged. Grill had a hole in it as big as the "hole in the wall". Gillies and guides are a bit troublesome and constantly walk past the fence near the unit and constantly seek your attention. The staff are friendly and helpful and work with what they have.
It is clear that this resort is up for sale as no maintenance has been done in well over a year. The common areas are rough but manageable, the 3-bedroom chalet we were allocated, however, was a nightmare and unfit for human occupation. After stepping over the broken plank on the deck, we then noticed the missing cistern lid on the toilet which we discovered did not work. The shelving in the bathroom was so rusted I'm surprised it was still on the wall. The towel rail was stuck on with double-sided tape, so it kept falling off the wall. The water was a brown/ green colour, and stank (no good for drinking or showering). We didn't have water for 3 days and had to walk up and down carrying water so we could flush toilets. There were several tiles in both bathrooms that had fallen off the walls and not been replaced, and the doors and walls were so dirty, it was clear they hadn't seen a clean cloth in months. The roof in the 3rd bedroom was leaking so badly that we couldn't use it seeing as it was raining heavily. In the lounge, the furniture didn't have covers so bedsheets were used to wrap the sponge. The plug sockets were so badly rusted they had either fallen out of the wall or had lost their covers. The kitchen counters and cupboards were badly swollen and in need of replacement. All the curtains in the unit were about a foot too short and the rail in my room was too short and kept falling down. The grass outside the unit hadn't been cut in ages, there was broken glass all around the braai and beer bottles strewn over the edge, all of which could easily have been cleaned up. Staff showed little real concern (with a few exceptions) or they were simply fed up with being unable to do anything. The restaurant was good, the drinks were cold, but be careful as it's expensive. The beds were comfortable and the bedding was clean, although old. The Wild Coast is amazing with some surprisingly great seafood spots. The location of Hole in the Wall Resort is incredible, but the resort is an absolute disaster. I would avoid it at all costs.
Unfortunately the tar road to the Hole in the Wall needs major repairs by our government, which makes the Resort a bit out of the way. with a bit of much-needed TLC this resort can be a great destination.
The scenery is a must see. The beach in front of the accommodation is unfortunately littered with plastic waste and other rubbish. The locals invade your privacy with persistent attempts to sell something or just beg. It was really unpleasant even if one wants to help.
Shower outlet was blocked. Was repaired the same night. Water that leaked onto the floor caused a nasty fall for my wife. Reported. No one inquires about her well-being.
The towels have seen better days and need replacement. The phone numbers on the documentation did not help: No answer or answered in Cape Town. Cape Town cannot answer any questions. Google Maps is not the correct address of Hole in the Wall Resort.
You should preferably have a bakkie or 4x4 to get in. All people was so welcoming and I'd definitely return sometime. Awesome destination! I would recommend this travel destination to any adventurer, but preferably in the summertime.
The place is very neat, the roads are just impassable to The Hole in the Wall.
We visited Hole in the Wall, the surroundings are very beautiful. The nature and beach are very clean.
Spacious accommodation. Slightly musty.
Great for getaway. Suits us perfectly especially because we love fishing and if you need to really relax and kick your shoes off it definitely is the perfect resort.
The unit is overpriced. The service representatives are not very welcoming to guests.
The road is bad and may require a 4x4, the restaurant's aesthetics and food could be improved, and no WiFi. The location is views are breathtaking and the short walk to Hole in the Wall is picturesque.
Beautiful surroundings at Hole in the wall.
Room 9 had water leaking in the inside of the building, kitchen very very wet. Moved to room 1. Curtains damp, rooms damp and no water.
The visit to the Hole In The Wall Resort made up for the appalling pot holed road conditions from N2 - just.
The only positive about this place is the location.
Beautiful countryside, great scenery, very friendly and welcoming staff at the accommodation.
No customer service or feedback from Willem, the manager, despite his undertaking to do so. No need to resolve booking dispute.
The location was great, nice place to stay, safe private beach and convenient pool and water slides for kids. The vacation was amazing and i would like to go back again some time.
Day visitors are allowed full access to the resort as the residents. No security or rules enforced. Resort in desperate need of a full renovation/upgrade.
Definitely not 4 and a half star accommodation. More 2 stars. Food not up to standard. Unit not up to standard.
Rude manager and staff. No water for 3 days and resort made no effort to accommodate guests. Chalet was dirty, smelly and badly equipped and in desperate need of maintenance. Safety was a concern. Stray dogs begging at the restaurant, and chalets at all times. No toilet paper at the pool toilets for the entire 5 days. Bar at the pool had no barman so one couldn't get a drink at the pool. Leaking toilets in the reception bathroom. Had to ask reception 3 times for someone to come and take away the full dustbin. Overall, a terribly poor experience.
The road to get there is terrible but Hole in the Wall Resort is fantastic.
We had a great time even though on our arrival it was raining and the view in the car was very bad. Couldn't wait to enter the resort. The road leading to the resort really needs serious attention. That night we also had no hot water, but since it was very humid, we enjoyed the cold showers. The food served at the restaurant was lovely, but it just took long before we got it. However the food was tasty. I would recommend this resort to all our partners and friends. Thank you to the staff for our stay at Hole in the Wall Resort.
Roads there are very bad, many potholes and many animals on the road. Nature is beautiful, but accommodation is less pleasant. Small shop on premises has very little stock, didn't even have the basics like ice cream, coke and bread. Nearest shop is a long drive. Pool was green. Short quite a few kitchen accessories, such as braai tongs, braai bowls, etc. Grill does not fit on the braai and curtains have holes in them. The whole resort needs TLC. The Hole in The Wall was well worth seeing.
It was to arrive at a paradise after the road from Umthatha through Coffee Bay. So nice and peaceful there and the accommodation was neat and clean and the service impeccable.
After a grueling seven hour drive I finally arrived at Hole in the Wall resort. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful and we also ate nice pizza at the restaurant that evening. The next morning I sought help with replacing my caravan's electrical plug. Damien the general manager immediately offered to help me with that. By eleven o'clock the plug had been replaced free of charge. It was excellent service. We also had a nice view of the sea. I would definitely recommend the Hole in the Wall resort to any tour group.
Love that they are caring for the stray dogs in the area.
Road from N2 was very bad. Loud music played at pool. We were hassled every time we walked to the Hole in Wall. Couldn't get to the beach. Drove one day earlier than we booked and paid for, so lost one day's money due to the bad experience.
Within walking distance of the Hole in the Wall. People are nice and helpful.
Nice place right on the sea.
Getting to the resort was shocking, the roads was terrible, one definitely don't feel very safe at the resort or the drive down. In addition the unit itself really needs work, there was mould and damp with paint cracking and bubbling up, nasty smell in the unit. The furniture and doors, door locks on the inside of the rooms could also really be replaced. The lock of our units was faulty. The hawkers at the fence was very annoying.
The beautiful coastline and easy walking trails to the hole and up the hill was blissful and captivating.
The kitchen equipment is old and broken. The bed was slept through and rolled inwards. The bedding smelled bad and we could only open 1 curtain, the rest were broken and could not be opened. The floor was dirty and sticky. The sofa was so broken, you couldn't even sit on it. It does the website a lot of damage to put such a place on your books.
Was something of a challenge the last 50 km dirt road, but it was all worth it. Indescribably beautiful, peaceful and close to nature. Our Creator's treat to us. Would recommend it for sure.
It's virgin nature, the view, and it's best to drive during the daytime so as to explore all the beautiful views.
We were informed that shop is open from 5 to 6 in the afternoon. After waiting 30 minutes for the doors to open, the lady at reception informed us that the person had not arrived. After we objected, she quite slowly and unfriendly managed to get someone so we could buy basic things. The behavior is definitely not how customers should be treated.
We chose this place for its proximity to the hole. It is a pleasant walk, which was safe to do even late at night with camera equipment (some people walking past just asked if I wanted lobster or oysters) to the hole. There is a lovely looking beach right in front of the resort (which we did not use owing to the cold weather). The restaurant staff were extremely friendly and the food was good. Our accommodation was big with 2 en-suite bedrooms (great for a couple with a baby and mother-in-law), a large albeit simple lounge area, well equipped kitchen and lovely outside bench/table. Some simple maintenance would be nice but at this price with this space, it was a bargain find. We were only there for 2 nights but will certainly be back and for longer!
The setting is magnificent, the view excellent, the food at the restaurant fabulous, the accommodation outstanding. The road there was not so good, but the rest makes up for it. My first time ever here and we have decided that we will be back. The only downfall we had was that the picnic bench at the chalet (34) was broken and as I strolled through the resort I noticed that the electronics are definitely not up to scratch and actually a safety hazard. I am a qualified electrician with a wireman license. But otherwise, we had a fantastic stay.
Hole in the Wall Resort is comfortable and safe, scenery is indescribable. The way there is a challenge!
Although everything is clean and tidy, the linen is old and the little shop only has the basics. The food was tasty. We went to see the Hole in the Wall and it was worth it.
There was rain and we had leaking roofs and water dripping all over us while sleeping and huge puddles everywhere. The geyser broke and we did not have hot water for almost 4 days. The bedroom door was broken and we were stuck inside for about half an hour while they tried to open the locks. The front door did not lock properly. The kitchen was badly stocked crockery and cutlery we where 8 people with 5 forks and 6 plates. Only one blunt knife to use in the kitchen. The unit was not cleaned properly prior to us checking in. When we arrived there was no sheets on the bed had to request sheets 3 times? Then we also where only given 5 towels when we where 8 people had to request these over and over again. The rooms where not serviced at all, bins not emptied and we had to go and buy black bags then on day 5 a guy came to empty the small bin in the kitchen.
4 major water leaks in unit 2. Toilet broken. Rusty previous braai still left on patio. Lost water for a day. Daughter got a rash from the detergents used on the bedding. Asked them to shift us to another room. They said it was full (it clearly wasn’t) they said they would get back to me but never called. I am going to request a partial refund.
Place is just neglected and needs attention. Restaurant is acceptable but service not the best. We stayed in unit number 1, right in front of the border to the beach. Here we were constantly harassed by the locals for selling everything from lobster to "walking tours". It was quite disturbing and very annoying.
Road impassable, more hole than road. Local residents and their animals bother a lot. Hole in the Wall was the only positive, but not worth all the negatives.
Our outside light didn't even work after we asked twice about it. Harassment from the locals if one went to the beach. We were not satisfied at all and feel that it was actually a waste of money. The money was not worth the experience. Even the stray dogs attacked and irritated a person. It was not a place where one could feel that one could relax at all.
The apartment is in need of a revamp.
It was very interesting, especially to see Hole in the Wall in the same way. It was truly unforgettably beautiful. Children enjoyed themselves.
Only issue I have is only allowing us to check in at 15:00 and not allowing us to check-out at 11.
We had a super stay at Hole in the Wall, the views at the hole were stunning. Definitely recommended it.
The environment is incredibly beautiful. We really enjoyed the environment as a family. The cottages need an awful lot of maintenance. When it rains, everything is under water - the water runs down the walls like a waterfall. And then you also have to hope the power lasts. The driver is nowhere to be found. The cottages only have the essentials. Weekends are 24-hour festivals of vacationers - no peace and quiet.
Location is great to visit the Hole in the Wall, the chalets are basic but the kitchen is good. The restaurant is average but the service is good.
Nice resort. The unit has everything (stove, microwave, etc.) but it is rustic and blends in nicely with nature. All that bothers you are the people trying to sell you fish, especially the units that are in front of the beach. One also realizes their need. The people are very friendly and we never felt unsafe when you went for a walk. Definitely a place for nature lovers. Beautiful views of the sea and beautiful footpaths. Restaurant's prices are good - nice atmosphere. The ladies who work there are doing very well under the Covid conditions. Interesting road from N2, takes about two hours but it's worth it.
The resort is a piece of the western world in an African setting. We had a fantastic stay there. The resort definitely looks after its guests. Thank you very much.
You can walk to the "Hole in the Wall" from the resort in 20 minutes. Breathtakingly beautiful, and definitely something you have to do once in your life.
My partner and I have been touring for the past 3 weeks and visited absolutely some of the most beautiful places along the coast. Koffiebaai was our third stop on our tour and so was one of the biggest disappointments of the whole tour. From where you turn out of the small town towards Coffee Bay, the tarmac was in a very poor condition. Arriving in Coffee Bay it is dirt road to the resort, the dirt road is in better condition than the tarmac. Reception from staff at Hole in the Wall Resort was very good. Rooms were clean and tidy. We planned to walk the next day to the landmark for which we had driven on bad roads all the way. However, we were warned by the resort's staff not to walk, ''the locals are harassing people''. So, we drove up to the viewpoint, took a picture and returned. The resort's shop is also closed. We couldn't buy anything there. We did enjoy seafood in Koffiebaai at a very nice, small restaurant. I'm glad I went to see it, but I'd rather look at a picture next time I want to go back.
Hole in Wall is worth seeing. Beautiful natural wonder of SA. Sorry local people outside resort make you feel uncomfortable. Litter should be controlled and local people should be involved as guides. Lots of unemployed people around.
Road to resort full of potholes, resort clean, tidy, staff friendly and helpful, it was a nice stay.
Resort, hotel rooms very rustic for the rate. Bathrooms very crammed. Restaurant is of good standard and was able to offer decent meals, even though power was off for 2 days during stay. Power loss was more of Eskom's designated issue than resort could do about it.
There had already been no power for 2 days when we arrived. Could we have let you know with alternatives. Perishable goods began to thaw. Offices did not open until 8 o'clock on the day of departure and could not get hot water for coffee. No hot water or arrangements for shower. Everyone blames Eskom but I paid them for service and facilities. Apparently new management that probably doesn't know how to handle crisis. According to workers, power is often a problem. Tour groups received gas tools but we were not offered anything.
It is a beautiful place. I was a little worried about stories on the internet of the road to Hole in the Wall, but it was better than expected. Well, a lot of potholes on the road from Umtata, but with slow driving it's doable. Follow the signs all the way to Coffee Bay. From there 9 km dirt road. They are busy making the road even better.
I wanted to thank the website for ensuring that my boyfriend and I had the most enjoyable vacation. Going to see the hole in the wall has been a bucket list adventure I have been wanting to tick off for years, and everything was beyond all expectation. The Transkei is not your normal luxury beach holiday as it is located in a remote and rural part of South Africa. However, the booking of the Hole in the Wall hotel via the website was extremely helpful. All the information provided was what we got, with no unexpected surprises. The Hotel is basic but it has everything you need to make your stay more than comfortable and enjoyable. Most importantly was the staff, from the reception to groundskeepers everyone had a heart of gold and a smile that wrapped you in warmth and hospitality. We certainly will be using the website for all our future holiday bookings.
We were initially given a much smaller room than originally booked, this was sorted out relatively quickly. The rooms are comfortable, but are old. I believe that a revamp is on the cards.
Despite the pitfalls on the way there, it is worth going there.

We will definitely visit the resort again. Safe, tidy and incredibly helpful staff. The house was very comfortable, and the kitchen was very well equipped. The scenery is amazing! Was a bit worried beforehand about all the negative reviews I read. But didn't experience any of it. We will definitely go back again and the children really enjoyed the playground and animals. Transkei, see you soon!
Beautiful place. The road there is bad with lots of potholes, but once you get there it's great.
Reception was very professional and friendly, the unit we stayed at was definitely worth the trouble, good value for money. Will definitely go on holiday here again, for longer than just 2 nights.
Unfortunately did not get to the hole in the wall due to self appointed tour guides who are intermittent and made us feel unsafe as senior citizens. The resort is lovely and everything is nice there.
Stay was very nice, we were even upgraded to better accommodation on arrival, without us asking. It is very beautiful and staff extremely friendly and helpful. Food in restaurant was delicious. There are only two complaints: the stray dogs in the resort are very annoying and we couldn't leave our doors open and then the locals who are really a nuisance, as soon as you step out of the resort they attack you. We could not look at the beach or the hole in the rock in peace. Everyone just wants to walk together to make a little money out of you, we just turned back to the resort. It's a great shame because it's a beautiful place. Perhaps a project or projects should be looked at where the people can be made part of the tourism package in the area in an organized way, without milking the tourist to death.
What an awesome place. Paul, the GM is excellent, helpful and makes you feel as if you are friends.
Lovely rondavel with everything you need. The resort is also beautiful but getting there is a challenge.
One should spend at least 3 days there.
Thank you Paul for the upgrade to a bigger unit and the spoiling with the Valentines dinner (chocolate, rose, nougat and champagne).
Had a great stay. This part of the Eastern Cape is very rural and it was convenient to stay in a resort that had all the necessary facilities.
Very nice stay. Staff very friendly and helpful. Clean and tidy. All the dogs in the resort are a bit of a nuisance. The restaurant disappointed. The bar is only partitioned off with reeds and during our meal on a Saturday night the TV in the bar area was set to rock hard for some sport while the people were making an awful lot of noise, so our meal in the restaurant was not peaceful at all. There was soft music playing but it was drowned out by the TV's noise. The waitress was absolutely uninformed. She couldn't answer a single question and constantly seemed like she didn't understand us. And she got our order wrong after we repeated it a few times. The wine we wanted to order from the wine list was not in stock. We waited over an hour for our main dish, and when it finally arrived, one dish was cold. After that we waited about an hour for our dessert. People who came in to us got their food before we did. Unfortunately, the restaurant was a huge disappointment.
Good accommodation, friendly staff.
Hole in the Wall is a very nice place to stay. The road there is somewhat of a nightmare, but remains an adventure.
Always wanted to visit the Hole in the Wall and Hole in the Wall Resort is very affordable and within walking distance of the Hole in the Wall. Will recommend the place.
We stayed in rondawel 42 and it was very tidy and the staff friendly. There was a braai where you just had to bring your meat and the hotel provided all the other side dishes for free.
See stars.
Very nice place to stay at.
The resort is ideally located, easy walking distance to the famous landmark. Nice and comfortable accommodation with everything you need. The road there is rough, but we expected it. The resort manager says they will soon hire their own guides.
We stayed one night with my husband and our 5 children. The place is beautiful, the view is amazing and the service is great! We did a little trip to the Hole in the Wall rocks, it was really good. We enjoyed our trip!
Very nice bed (No 42) with a nice view of the sea. The door's locking hook plate in the door frame is loose and worn. The fridge is poorly placed and it is inconvenient to take things in and out. Otherwise it was a very nice place to stay.
Thank you very much for the upgrade from 2 to 3 rooms. We were very surprised by the luxurious accommodation and enjoyed it very much. We also like the parrot.
The road to Hole in the Wall Resort is very bad. The service and food and accommodation wren't bad, but I expected more. There is basically no view of the sea from the house in which we stayed. Something that bothered is the locals waiting at the gate for you to go to the or to the Hole in the Wall Resort, that want to be your guide and not take no for an answer. I would not be able to walk there women alone, and it was a big negative point for me.
A wonderful experience in a majestic setting. Best service I have ever experienced from resort staff, amazing food and the natural surroundings will speak to your soul.
A jewel in the wonderful country and the only problem is probably the access roads, but at least it looks like there are plans.
Great value for money stay.
Very good location and nice close to the "hole". Everything we needed and very comfortable.
Definitely a location to visit, beautiful beach and a lot of nature, an experience to drive to, go and see for yourself.
Best value for money in the entire Transkei Coast. Very friendly staff and the facilities are great. Very safe and private I will definitely go there again. Absolutely for people who love nature.
Thoroughly loved our time at Hole in the Wall. Exquisite scenery straight from God's creative hand! And all right on our doorstep. Friendly service, yummy food, and the perfect location for our getaway. Highly recommended and a place to visit again and again.
Comfortable cottage. Very cute place. Beautiful surroundings with many amenities. Restaurant was disappointing. Didn't have all the items on the menu and portions were very small.
For overnight is was okay but not for a longer stay.
On arrival the staff helped us to get in touch with our family at home, the mobile phone network was out of order due to bad weather the day before. They helped us with kindness, and the restaurant staff were just as quick, friendly and welcoming. All constructive advice we can give is to perhaps renovate the inside of the houses a bit. Wonderful time at Hole in the Wall Resort!
Stunning place to stay.
The stay was wonderful. There was a very large gathering of scramblers who started driving around the resort early in the morning which was terribly annoying. The rest of the time we had a very nice time.
The road is very poor and not at all to be recommended for an ordinary sedan car. The whole resort is fenced, but to view at the beach or the Hole-in-Wall you have to walk out of the resort where you are mobbed by young non-working locals. There are no guided tours of the resort. A big disappointment! Stray dogs also bother you at your accommodation in the resort. A great pity about the rubbish at the beautiful Hole-in-wall as well as the unemployed people standing around there. Devices for children also obsolete.
Hole in the Wall is one of the better accommodations in the area and is much nicer than in Coffee Bay. It's nice and close to the real "hole in the wall" It's expensive for what you get. We had a great meal in the Restaurant and the place is kept very clean. Please bring dog food for the hungry local dogs that visit you daily. The nature is beautiful. The local people are very friendly but let them know clearly if you do not want to use their services, otherwise they will continue to burden you.
My wife and I slept 5 there nights. We walked 3 times to the Hole in the Wall, we could not get enough of it, it's just too breathtaking. The apartment was spacious and really comfortable. When my wife walked in at the door the first day, she said she didn't drive any further, we walked where we wanted to go. The morning when we left was the first time the bakkie moved again. It is quite far to drive there from Malmesbury, but still worth it.
Directions to the resort needs to be looked at, but the resort is very good.
This is not a holiday for beginners. The road is long and better than I expected, but after two days of rain it was a different story. Is it worth it? Absolutely. We live in a beautiful country and it is a privilege to see the splendor of this part of the country. The accommodation was good enough. We looked around at other places and think this "resort" is the best, unless you rent a private cottage. The unit is cleaned every day and the linen is clean but not new. Some of the photos on the website may be misleading as it looks like the units have had a "revamp", but I don't think they made it to all of them.
We really enjoyed it. The chalets are neat, clean and serviced daily. Unfortunately there were groups there that didn't oblige to the rules: they played music till late, etc. Someone must be on the lookout for these type of visitors.
We had a very good time. Will definitely visit again. Unfortunately we will not support the restaurant again. And rather make everything ourselves. The locals are a petulant but they didn't bother too much. More the dogs that come in from a suburb and bother you while you are eating. The Hole in the Wall is something to see. We will recommend it as a must see.
See stars.
Make sure you take a bag of sweets with for the local kids on the last bit of road before the resort. The accommodation was lovely and clean. Felt like home away from home. All the staff there are very friendly and very helpful. Would like to especially thank Liso, he was our bartender most of the time and kept the drinks coming. The night we had the seafood braai was magical, worth every cent! The restaurant makes amazing burgers! I especially enjoyed the Hole in the Wall breakfast, breakfast for champions! Taking the walk to the Hole in wall was very special to us, had been waiting 3 months to finally go and see it and it was everything we were hoping it would be. I cannot wait to go back and relive the magic that my husband and I experienced. Thank you.
Hole in the Wall is the most beautiful place in South Africa. I think most people don't know about or at least visited the place. I enjoyed my stay at the resort and it is right next to the beach. It is breathtaking what nature has offered us as a gift to enjoy and best part of it all is it's free. I think South African tourism doesn't do justice to this place.
Neat and clean. The beds were just a bit too soft. Maybe they can look at adding firmer mattresses. It is really a beautiful resort with more than enough facilities. The spa was wonderful! The staff are friendly and the service is great. And of course, the "Hole in the Wall" did not disappoint. Absolute worth the effort. Beautiful scenery! The walk from the resort is also very pretty and not too difficult! Thank you very much!
We've been visiting Hole in the Wall many years, but this was the first time in ages that we stayed in the hotel again. Service was good, furniture, linen was new and clean. Units are serviced daily and you get new towels every second day. Units are very wll equipped and comfortable.
The location is great, but the resort itself is not up to standard. Broken beds, wardrobes etc. Dirty sofa covers. Clean water for showering, washing dishes etc. from the taps is currently not available. All tap water is river water. Clean drinking water is provided free of charge. Nearest supermarket on Mtatha. Environment breathtaking.
Good for relaxation and rest with select activities. Reception is easy and friendly. Accommodation is simple yet comfortable and very spacious and comfortable with all the necessary equipment. The activities are selected and for the residents. The environment is challenging, but comforting and picturesque. The resort is neatly maintained and well managed except for the locals who can be troublesome at times.
Fabulous experience.
Stunning and beautiful. Staff very friendly and helpful.
According to the directions on their booking paper, the road to Koffiebaai is only accessible by SUV or bakkie, but this is not stated anywhere. On the beach you are bothered by people who want to take you to the Hole in the Wall or sell you everything. If you come from Gauteng, it scares you. Restaurant was very good. But we will not go again. LekkeSlaap's service was very good. Thank you.
