Irene is a safe and quiet, yet central, area. The garden unit at Jansen House met all expectations, except that WiFi was not available during my stay - something that is important for a business traveler. Nevertheless, excellent value for money and customer service from Emmah, the manager, was fantastic. Unfortunately, there was an unpleasant experience during my arrival. First of all, there are no nameplates or indications that tell if one is in the right place. There is a house number, but the bells don't work. I arrived just after 18:00 hours, but it took me about 20 minutes to get someone's attention (I almost had to climb over the wall). The phone number of Chris that was passed on was out of order. It was unfortunately not a pleasant experience after a long day.
Very good location in terms of highways and also to Midstream Mediclinic where we needed to be. Neat, clean and beautiful surroundings. Lots to do in the area too.

At first it was a bit difficult to find the Manor - but when the LekkeSlaap team helped us, access was part of the fun. Beautiful peaceful surroundings. We will be back again, right place to just recharge batteries again in beautiful rural Irene surroundings.

I really enjoyed staying in the Milk Room it is well appointed, neat and clean. The room could do with air conditioning to make it more comfortable during the hot summer evenings (the fan helped but is not sufficient). The staff is friendly and competent and frequently asked if there was anything they could do for me. The pillows on the bed have a bit of a scent and can upset more sensitive travellers (positive criticism).
The owner apparently lives overseas and was not in contact with the ladies left to run the establishment. There was no power at Jansen House during my stay. All other properties in the neighbourhood had power. Perhaps he had not paid his account. The was no emergency electrician on call, no generator, no gas lamps, no torches, no boiling water for tea or coffee, no TV, nowhere to charge your phone and the electric gates did not work so our vehicles were not totally secure.
We had a wonderful stay at Jansen House! Very safe place to stay. Was near Midsteam College where we needed to be. I would just have liked a phone number of Jansen House to arrange for the key as we were busy until late that evening. Thanks, Jansen House. We'd gladly stay there again.

Jansen House was not as beautiful as in the photos right now, but they are doing all kinds of renovations and repainting. Plus it's winter so the gardens are bare. But the room I stayed in was beautiful. The carpet might be a nice wash? It was nice that my car could stand in a garage. The staff is very friendly and put in a lot of effort. Breakfast was delicious. I will definitely stay there again.
We checked in late, and still the service was excellent, they were even willing to iron a garment for me to wear early the next morning. Thank you again for excellent service.

On arrival the area was without electricity due to a fault on the supply line. The staff kept you informed and even sent an SMS that if you need help when you return late at night from your function you can call a number for help. It immediately made you think that your safety is a priority. The breakfast was delicious and the hot breakfast was prepared on gas stoves which did not cause any inconvenience for me as a guest with the power outage. Suggestions for improvement with power outages: Have rechargeable LED light in every room and maybe also gas for shower and sink's hot water. This will ensure a hassle-free stay for the guests. Overall feeling was a pleasant stay because staff are helpful, make you feel at home and your safety is taken into consideration upon late night arrival.
I was really disappointed with Jansen House. First we came to a gate, rang the bell but no one answered I had to call before someone responded. It was an unexpectedly cold day in October, there was coffee and tea in the room but no milk. The lady who helped us was nowhere to be found. I just felt uncomfortable and not very welcome the whole time. I also didn't like the toilet which is practically next to the bed. It is a beautiful old house but the gardens and verandahs look neglected and the buildings definitely need a coat of paint.
