The bathroom is extremely impractical, and the unit is far too small and not suited for more than three people, max (even though they booked us as a family of five in there). The black mould buildup in the shower is not safe and very disgusting. The fittings are in need of care and maintenance.
Kambro accommodation and farm stall is well situated for travellers from Kimberley to Cape Town. We were greeted with a friendly face upon our arrival and were given a "baie lekker broodjie" as a welcome gift. Overall, the place is neatly laid out and clean. Personally, I feel they are a bit overpriced.

Das Chalet was sehr gut in Schuss, sehr sauber und sehr gut ausgestatt. After the friendly welcome, we got a delicious self-baked bread. Unser Lunch im Restaurant was sehr lecker, das Personal besons freundlich. Auch im Farmstall haben wir ein paar original Mitbringsel gefunden.
Only issue was no wifi, unsure of the reason but we did thoroughly enjoy our stay.

Farmstall full of 'goodies', had winter sheets on the beds, essential in that cold environment in winter. Seemed popular, lots of people stopping in and visiting. Disappointed that wifi did not work in the room as indicated, had to sit in the restaurant for connection.

Kambro Accommodation and Farmstall in Britstown is not only perfectly located on the way to Cape Town, but it was the ideal overnight stop for our family on the way to Sutherland. The staff are friendly and helpful, and we were contacted early in the morning to hear what time we hoped to arrive and whether we wanted barbecue packs with salad or homemade pies (the lamp pie is unbeatable). The Padstal will charge your credit card and the accommodation is comfortable and has the best beds we've slept on in a long time at an accommodation. And as an added bonus, we could see the milky way in all her glory! We will definitely visit and recommend Kambro Accommodation and Farmstall again.

Only your overnight bag is needed. The rest is there. Get a delicious Karoo lamb roast (grilled or self-grilled) with potato and Greek salad. Milk tart for dessert. At a reasonable price. Always a winner at Kambro. Definitely see us again in the future!
Very neat and clean and every possibility has been thought of. Firewood, barbecue grill, camp chairs and a lovely fridge. Just look hospitable and perfect. Really appreciated the free home-baked welcome sandwich and actually got butter in the fridge too.

Very peaceful environment. The cottage is very well equipped. They arrange with you in advance for food for the evening at extra cost. If you barbecue, provision is made for barbecue wood. Will definitely stay there again. I can recommend their milk tart and scones.

My daughter was traveling alone and would not be able to arrive at Kambro until after 20:00. The staff were very friendly and supportive and had no problem waiting especially for her. She was also kindly received with a freshly baked bun and coffee in her room. Thank you very much - she herself says it looks like the nicest getaway spot.
Louis, the manager of the cute Plaasstal Winkeltjie, was very hospitable and gave us a cheerful welcome. The little house, Asbos, was cozy and very comfortably furnished with a breathtaking view of the Karoo landscape.

Kambro is an oasis for us just halfway between Pretoria and Pearly Beach. We enjoy sitting on the porch in the evenings with a nice fire and looking out over the field and mountains. Als was beautifully green and the evening's beautiful lightning show and little rain was a first and a last experience. The Greek salad and Braaibroodjies were delicious, thank you very much. Nice to not have to struggle with food yet. God willing, see you again on the road ahead. Thank you very much for the hospitality.

Everything you need for an overnight stay. We enjoyed dinner - it could have been served better although it was delicious.
Kambro is perfect for sleepovers and we always have a good time. It's very peaceful and in a beautiful setting. The meat and salads they prepare are delicious, can really recommend. There are play areas for the children, and for the warmer months there is also a swimming pool.
The unit was comfortable and clean. The food packages exactly as we ordered them. Thank you very much. However, it is a pity that no Afrikaans TV channel is available. All other languages were available. According to my summary, the other guests were also all Afrikaans.
The place was clean but very small. We ordered supper from the Kambro. Unfortunately because of the size of the unit I accidently knocked over the bowl with the potato salad in which broke. We took this back to reception to get more of this and to let them know we had broken the bowl and were charged R 50 to replace the bowl which would not have cost more than R 20. Could live with that, but got up early the next morning to leave and had to have a cold shower as there was no hot water, cannot be blamed on Eskom as there was no power failure over night. Overall very disappointing and will never use this accommodation again.

Motion-activated lights at the store turn on and off throughout the night. The spotlights then shine into the master bedroom. The master bedroom is in the kitchen which makes the bedding smell like food. Then the fridge is also in the master bedroom. He's yelling. The bathroom is very small. The door cannot open. The sink is in the way.

The location of Kambro, halfway between Pretoria and Cape Town and directly next to the national road, is a big plus. Our goal was not to go on vacation, but for an overnight stay, Kambro was ideal. We ordered dinners from the restaurant, but because we arrived after the restaurant had closed, we took advantage of it at our caravan. It was very tasty and a big advantage over cooking yourself after 10 hours of driving.

Place was neat, clean and safe. There was constant communication with us to make sure everything was ok. Offer to provide dinner was handy as we would be arriving quite late. We are very satisfied.

Place is neat and clean but feels R1300 is too much per night. Owner not very friendly either and requires people to be there before 8pm and check out before 9am. Wood for fire was also minimal so I feel that R1300 per night is somewhat of an overcharge.
The cottage was very well furnished and clean. Meat and salads were prepared for us and everything was very tasty. The environment is peaceful and quiet. The paddock has all the basic necessities. We had a wonderful evening at Kambro and have already booked again for our next trip.

We only camped one night, on our way back from the flowers to Gauteng. The pitches are very neat, will certainly be able to camp there for longer. The ablutions are fantastic - big, comfortable and extremely clean. You just don't get better. The paddock has the most delicious products, fresh baked goods and coffee.

It offers a good Karoo experience with the open field, the sheep and springbok grazing around you. The accommodation meets expectations and the pies, salad and home-baked bread were very tasty.

Fantastic accommodation, delicious lamb pies, beautiful things to buy in the little shop and lovely play area. We grilled Kambro's lamb sausages, sausages and rashers and can also definitely recommend them. We went home in the wooden house. Cottages are all neat and private. Nice clean inside. Kambro grilled us delicious chops and provided salads that evening. After a long day of traveling with small children, I didn't even need to worry about cooking in the evening.
We always spend the night at Kambro paddock on the way to Cape Town. They are reasonable and the cottages are very clean with everything you need, and moreover located on a farm. There are good security measures. On the day of arrival, one can arrange a barbecue with salad for dinner, or one of their delicious mutton or springbok pies, also with salad. We always take the pies, and they are delicious!
Kambro accommodation is conveniently close to the main road and yet quiet. Farm environment is beautiful and peaceful. The chalets are really value for money. Dinner in the form of meals that can be enjoyed in the room worked.
We still enjoyed it tremendously all the years we slept over. The best thing is to get your fresh bun with butter. The turtles are also top notch (not the four-legged turtle).
Was requested to provide my own bath towel. A first for any establishment (even in lockdown). Dustbin was overflowing, was told they only empty once per week. Unit was very small, in fact tiny, not worth the cost even for a single rate. Only one pillow was provided on the single bed, the other single bed was stripped of all bedding. The second room was locked (apparently due to Covid-19), this was not acceptable. The aircon had no remote provided, so that you could only switch it on or off, but not adjust the temperature or setting. There was even a notice to this effect. Avoid at all cost.

There was really everything one could need. Friendly Louis called in advance and received us warmly. Only the breakfast coffee was substandard - very strong and not freshly ground and made. However, the gift bun makes up for it!

I have used the accommodation on several occasions since the nineties when the first two units were built and can only speak highly of the quality, cleanliness and hospitality. The addition of the air conditioning is most welcome. I confidently recommend the accommodation.
After a long day behind the wheel it was wonderful to be able to dismount and use the lovely clean facilities. The air conditioning provided comfort while it was a sweltering 37 outside. On the way back I will stop again to get provisions (jam, chutney) for use at home.
It was pleasant experience to rest after a long day of driving. The pies were incredibly tasty, just a shame there wasn't enough to take home. Everything was very clean and tidy.

We were worried at first when we arrived in Britstown, but then saw that the place was located quite a few km out of town. It is very peaceful and safe there and the accommodation was spacious enough. The food packs that they provide on booking are top shelf and we bought some of the braai packs with salad and braai buns which we grilled ourselves at the unit.
N12 is conveniently close and worth it.
It was well equipped, house clean and nice and cool with air conditioning. That store has something of everything.
I would recommend Kambro, you will not be able to improve the tranquility and hospitality.

We camped overnight at Kambro en route to Rustenburg from Cape Town. The site is spacious and peaceful. The ablutions are spotless. We received a friendly welcome and were happy that we could buy meat for our braai after 18:00. The farm stall also serves excellent breakfasts!

After a long day on the road, we were excited to drive through Kambro's gate. The Farm Stall is beautiful and made us feel at home. Everything is very neat with fast and friendly service. Our house was private, neat and clean. We ordered dinner beforehand and it was waiting for us in the fridge. Homemade bread and pies with a salad. Amazing. We will definitely stay there again.
The reception was friendly and the surroundings beautiful and peaceful. The chalet was neat and well equipped. However, a hanging place (or cabinet) for clothes was missing! The price for me, a single traveler, although I had a choice, was too much! Unless the price goes down in the future, I won't be using Kambro any time soon!

Overnight in one cottage on the campsite at Britstown. The house was small, but equipped with everything you need. Friendly and helpful owner. Friendly service with help at breakfast. Nice shop. The campsite is next to the highway and there is some noise to be heard, but it was absolutely not disturbing. Great to spend the night!
Beautiful, clean accommodation more or less halfway between Johannesburg and Cape Town through Kimberley. Very hospitable and sincere Karoo people and a delicious fresh home-baked sandwich to make you feel at home. Plus, our fur babies were also welcome.

The bathroom in the Granaatbos unit leaves much to be desired. I would suggest that the owners enlarge the bathroom by 1 meter so that you don't hit your head against the wall when you sit on the toilet. One also has to scrape past the wall and the shower door to get out of the shower. Very uncomfortable.

Perhaps our choice of apartment was not so good, we found it cramped, with beds, dining area and kitchen all pushed together. What we did appreciate was that we could order dinner and that it was delivered to the apartment shortly after our arrival. The paddock is of good quality.

Facilities under the circumstances provide all necessities and a clean, safe resting place is provided. I am a TV addict so was a bit disappointed with the channels on offer - also, the picture was very poor. Andesins, overall, excellent.
Overall neat and clean. There is good provision for braai and the braai wood provided as part of accommodation costs is excellent. The television does not work, the signal is very weak. We paid R780 to Kambro Accommodation before we checked in, nothing more. They just have to watch out for mistakes at the paddock that result in incorrect payments. A bill at the paddock which should have been R180 was mistakenly passed as R320. They didn't give us a cash register slip at the paddock. We reported it to them. They corrected it and said the meat packages were incorrectly ringed on the cash register. Such mistakes should not happen at all. One is on vacation and does not want to check whether costs of items purchased are correct.

Kambro is conveniently located halfway between Gauteng and Cape Town. There are many comfortable accommodation options for smaller groups (two people) or a family. Very welcome is the freshly baked hot sandwich that is delivered to your accommodation in the early evening. The swimming pool after a long and hot drive through the Karoo is also extremely welcome.

Kambro is the ideal halfway stop between Cape Town and Pretoria (N12). The reception was friendly and so was the provision regarding dinner made by Wilma and her staff. That way we could ensure that we didn't go to bed hungry. The house was wonderfully cool, clean and tidy when we arrived. All the equipment worked 100% and we slept great. We were warmly welcomed at the farmstall and were able to choose products for our braai from of a wide range of products. At the cottage there was fresh milk and butter in the fridge, a homemade bread on the table and wood at the braai. The cottage is neat and clean. Kambro is a piece of heaven on earth. What you see is what you get. After a long trip it was just the place I want to stay. Nice fire under the stars. Real Karoo atmosphere. Safe and pet-friendly. Shop is just as cute.
It provided in all our needs. The fresh bread was a winner. Shop is fully stocked for emergencies. Braai wood and braaier also excellent.

We went on a road trip and decided to enjoy the journey and not just the final destination. That was a great decision. Had a lovely swim in the clean farm dam. Had delicious Karoo chops on the fire, a fantastic thunderstorm in the middle of the Karoo and the starlit sky was the highlight of our accommodation at Kambro Accommodation & Farm Stall. Perfect place for a stopover en route to the Cape from Gauteng.
We camped there and it was pleasant. Excellent ablution facilities, neat and clean. The dam for swimming is a relief, and the meal at the restaurant was divine. Warm welcome and service.

Only stayed one night but was 100% worth it. From arrival to departure there was no problem. The only problem was the bathroom sink, whose taps were already running around.
It is next to the highway which is very noisy during the night. The fridge makes a noise when switching on and off, which disturbs your sleep.

We spent the night in Granaatbos. There is literally everything you need and more in the neat "chalet". We were able to grill delicious meat and for the last time have a good time under the bright stars. The delicious bun, butter and farm milk was a BIG BONUS! We experienced true Karoo hospitality. The houses were very neat and comfortably furnished. The fresh home-baked bread was delicious and a real treat. There was even butter and milk in the fridge as well as wood for the evening's barbecue. We also had a delicious meal at the farm stable and bought cute gifts. We will definitely stay at Kambro again!

Was very surprised to find the beautiful place next to the main road. Just drive by all the time. It was half way from Hartenbos to Lichtenburg NW so we could enjoy the tranquility before we went home. Would really recommend Kambro, it was clean and tidy. The ablution block was new and clean and it was nice to use such facilities for once. Have already recommended it to all our friends who also go to the Cape regularly.
The location is ideal for rest after a long day on the road.
I've stayed at Kambro a few times now and it's great.
We were impressed by the attention to detail in the campsite, raised grass stands for one's tent. There is also a roundabout road system for towing trailers easily. Clean and large shower cubicles for easy ablutions. Large trees for shade. Only downside is that it is on the busy, noisy N12 motorway.
We camped and all the facilities were adequate, neat and clean. Will definitely stay here again. The pies and springbok roasts at the paddock were tops!
Every year we stop at our halfway mark to Cape Town. We have so much fun on Kambro every year.

It's an incredibly cute place! We spent the night there on our way to the West Coast. They prepared salad and braai buns for us for a nice braai. We also bought the lamb chops from their paddock. The surprise was great when we also got home-baked bread in the apartment with compliments from Kambro!!! Had a great time, will stay there again.

The advertising about Kambro is misleading. It advertises sleeping accommodation for 4 people and displays photos of sleeping facilities. When we got there in the shivering cold of -3 degrees we found out to our shock that we had booked a pitch for tents. Luckily it was winter and there were rooms so we could upgrade. There is also definitely something wrong with the price if it is only a pitch for a tent. We paid almost R900 for one night which was not value for money for the cramped house.

Ordered karoo lamb chops to grill and they put it in our fridge. Homemade bun was a winner. Padstal has the cutest gifts and treats. Will definitely stay there again!
Neat houses on a quiet farm, a lovely view of the field and ridges and plenty of birds. In the small fridge there was farm milk and real butter and in the late afternoon hot freshly baked bread was delivered to each house. Their meals include, typically Northern Cape, meat. So vegetarians have to provide for their own meals in the evening and for breakfast coffee and muffins were very tasty. It was no problem though - the warm farm bread was just too delicious!

Great! A real oasis in the scorching heat of the Karoo. The cottage we stayed in (Boogo) was well equipped (including air conditioning), neat and comfortable - also nice and private. With braai facilities on the stoep, a piece of heavenly grass in front of the door, views (also of the stars) that will charm you and an incredibly large, cold swimming pool, you can't go wrong!

An oasis in the Karoo after a long days travelling from KZN. Clean & friendly, air-con provided a welcome relief from the December heat. Dinner was very enjoyable, if a bit expensive.

We had a very nice overnight stay and found the facilities clean and tidy. Our stay was flawless. The bathrooms are spacious and tidy, just what you need after a long day on the road.
Business-like friendliness. Well equipped accommodation. However, I must say that if you sell meat for a braai please make sure the firewood you offer is dry and will burn. We eventually had to use the frying pan. Difficult to judge safety as I could not see or hear anybody all around the complex during the beautiful starlit night, however I did feel safe.
Kambro is conveniently close to the N12, but the residential units are far enough that the traffic does not bother you at night. Our unit was well equipped with everything you need. We just would have liked a free standing shower: in our unit (Bitou) you have to stand in the bath when you shower. We didn't camp, but the campsite is remarkably well equipped for caravans. It's designed so you don't need to put out your groundsheets, or even pitch your tent if you're just staying overnight. The breakfast at the paddock was really tasty, reasonably priced and nicely served. We will definitely spend the night there again.

There are 10 self-catering chalets with air conditioning as well as 6 grassed caravan sites, and 2 camp spots. The self-catering units each have a private braai, electricity, clean ablution blocks with warm water, and wash-up facilities.
There is a playground for children. Ideal for bird watching and hiking. Safe parking at the chalet. Escape the December and January heat by taking a cool, refreshing dip in the dam.
Although the accommodation is self-catering, breakfast and dinner are served on request. Guests can enjoy their own braai under the stars. Each chalet has its own private braai. Please note that small pets are only allowed in some of the units and by arrangement.
There is a Farmstall on the premises. In the air-conditioned Restaurant, guests can relax and enjoy some of our light meals. The restaurant closes at 16:00 but guests can order takeaways from the menu. Homemade pies are a much sought-after item and are available in Springbok, lamb, and chicken. We are fully licensed and guests who stay overnight can enjoy a beer or some fine wine. Guests receive a WhatsApp on the day of arrival with all the options for dinner. They can order food then. We do serve breakfast as well. Guests in Caravan Park can order homemade bread. Free Wi-Fi is available.
In the Farmstall we sell a wide range of jams, chutneys, canned fruits, dried fruits, quince sweets, fruit sweets, gifts, homemade ginger beer, lemon syrup, books, rusks, biscuits, spices, and much more. In the freezer, we also have a wide selection of raw or cooked offal, lamb tails, baked quiches, stuffed leg and saddle of Springbok, recipes included, boerewors, homemade butter, kebabs, skilpaadjies, etc.
Experience real Karoo hospitality on the farm. The National stargazing party is held annually at Kambro. We treat our guests in the chalets with homemade bread and butter as well as tea and coffee as part of our service.
