10 guests' feedbackIt is a beautiful place, just right for an overnight stay. I booked for the whole weekend for 3 nights for a group of 6, and didn't realize that cooking facilities were not provided, but Ilze accommodated us and we were able to have a great time as a family of 6 adults.
Our host, Ilze, was extremely hospitable and made us feel very welcome.
Relaxing all time with all the rain.

We were reluctantly welcomed by a young lady (after struggling to get in at the gate), no hot water for our shower the first evening (then lied to the next morning about just having to turn the tap the other way), breakfast took a very long time (despite agreeing a time, we still had to wait 30 minutes), no remote for the air conditioner (and none supplied, despite asking for it and there clearly was one, as it was briefly switched on on Sunday morning), no channels available on the TV, the 1 pillow cover was a towelling fabric, so I used the other pillow's pillowcase over that (maybe they thought we had stolen it?). Also, upon opening the curtains, the one curtain rail at the top almost fell on my head, it must have been loose? The amenities also weren't great, it would have been lovely to have earbuds/cotton swabs and an extra hand towel. The reception lady was not particularly friendly or welcoming, she made zero effort to recommend any local businesses or try to build rapport. All of the above would not have bothered us much as we really only slept there, but we were made to feel like criminals when we left. She told us to wait "so she could check our room". In all my years of traveling, not a single person has ever asked me this. I can fully understand if the establishment has previously had issues with theft, but there are a myriad of other ways to quickly check a room without embarrassing guests. We were quite offended.
We really had a very nice and comfortable visit, we will definitely go again.
The cottage we stayed in, Spoonbill, was stylish and very private. The 2 tame Springboks that slept and grazed in front of our porch were an extra bonus. A wonderful hostess. Enjoyed a delicious breakfast under the trees every morning. The outdoor massage was a great treat. Will definitely go back!
There was no water on the Saturday and no power, so they must invest in a power source. I wil not go again.
Delicious, luxurious accommodation at the foot of the Magaliesberg. Less than an hour's drive (from Randburg, Jhb), so excellent location. Breakfast was served with taste every morning. The dinner was delicious! Not suitable for full self-catering, but we would definitely recommend Karee & Wild Olive!
