The unit is tastefully and practically furnished. We really enjoyed our stay and appreciated everything she provided in the unit. We had read about her legendary breakfasts but wanted to drive early the next morning. From the antique brass bed to the romantic posies of roses all over, this private cottage on the owner's large property will cosset you with love. The kitchen only has a microwave oven for cooking, so bring meals to preheat if you're going to self-cater for dinner. The full English breakfast served either in your room or in the garden - included in the price - was most enjoyable.

There was load shedding when we arrived but Liana made sure there were enough lamps and candles and even brought a flask of hot water for coffee. Despite load shedding, there was hot water for showering and we were in no way inconvenienced thanks to the hostess's planning.

"Liana's cottage is an oasis for the weary traveler. A lovely, secluded garden to revive one after a long, dusty journey and (absolutely essential!) a generous shower. Nothing too much trouble for one's host: highly recommended."

I was impressed with the thoughtfulness of the items provided in the spacious cottage; everything I needed was to hand. The basic kitchenette allowed me to prepare a simple supper, and keep my perishable food cold in the bar fridge. There is no air-conditioning, but Liana provided an electric fan that effectively took the edge off the mid-summer heat. There's load shedding in Bethulie, as everywhere else, but that is beyond the control of the hosts.

Dead ordinary home atmosphere accommodation, need nothing more for an overnight facility! Friendly, helpful reception.

Upon arrival was the greeting from our host not very pleasant, we then were told that she cannot give us safe parking and we had to unpack our bakkie and pack everything in an already small room, information on the property as in keys etc. was not given, she could not supply us with a fan, we slept very hot and uncomfortable, we also went to the restaurant that night upon our return and then we found that we were locked out, when our host was finally gotten ahold of did she make me and my wife feel like we were in the wrong and that why are we so late to return as if we had a curfew, telling us she had to wait up for us. The next morning we found that other rooms had amenities that we did not have. We travel a lot and this has been by far our worst stay. We will not recommend this guest house. We were also too scared to use the bathroom as it was down the hall from our room in fear of waking up other guests as the floor makes so much noise when walking on it. It was not worth the R522 we spent for one night.

We were welcomed with open arms and immediately felt at home. The room was very comfortable with everything needed to make you feel welcome. Beautiful garden with the most beautiful roses and lavender bushes. Enjoy good coffee and biscuits in the shade among the roses. The best was when the cattle came back from the fields in the late afternoon and walked past the house. We will definitely spend the night here again, and can highly recommend it.

Our stay was pleasant. Hostess was very friendly and helpful. Beautiful roses and lavender bushes in the garden that compliment the name.

The cottage is a farm-style cottage with old-world attractive furniture with some modern variations eg. a glass bowl basin. It is set facing a rose garden which, when the roses are blooming, would be charming. The carport is right next to the gate to the cottage so loading and unloading is easy. The carport is secured by a locked gate and the cottage by another locked gate and a locked front door. There is a path to the owner’s house if you need to contact them. Unfortunately, we had a power loss in the whole village during the night which lasted till we left. But our hostess was very helpful bringing us hot water for tea and coffee and still managed to supply a very nice egg, bacon etc. breakfast in our room. The cottage comprised a bathroom with a wardrobe and a chest of drawers. A nice shower, basin and toilet and plenty of hot water. There is a kitchen with a sink and counter and kettle. Tea, sugar, milk and coffee for the night are supplied. A fridge with a small freezing compartment met our needs and we were able to freeze all our cooler blocks (5). On one side of the kitchen is an adequate dining table. Cutlery, plates and cups are supplied. Bed was large and bedding adequate. Although the night was very cold, we were warm and slept well. A heater was supplied but we did not need it. Our host Leanna, was lovely – pleasant, very apologetic for the power loss but it was not her fault, and a good happy attitude.
