Friendly welcome, safe and peaceful accommodation. One room downstairs, deck upstairs with double bed and 3 single beds. We especially enjoyed the pool table and two beautiful sheep dogs!
Sannie received us kindly and immediately made us feel welcome. It was delightfully cool inside the rondavel and we had a peaceful, quiet night.
It was freezing cold and the owners lit the fireplace for us before our arrival so that the house could be nice and warm. They also switched on the generator during load shedding and we could watch tennis. Children really enjoyed the pool table. The electric blankets ensured that we could sleep nice and warm. Excellent value for money and very nice owners!
We were notified well in advance that the unit was available. Once we arrived my travelling companions were suitability impressed with the accommodation, cleanliness thereof, and being avid soccer players loved the fact that a full DStv package was available to watch the 1st leg of the Champion's League semi-final. An indoor braai ensued and everyone parked off in front of the TV to watch the game with the indoor fire roaring in the background. Everyone slept soundly (more than enough bedding) and even though there were ample heaters available, none were used due to the fire having warmed the unit. (outside temperature had dropped to 3 degrees Celsius during the night). As sunrise beckons one is awakened to the song of the various birdlife on the farm. The odd farm animal sounds were also a pleasant change to the hustle and bustle noise of city life. To fully appreciate this experience one needs to book for more than one night. Unfortunately we were on a tight schedule for just the long weekend and did a Cape Town - Johannesburg round trip in 5 days.

The tranquility, calm and farm atmosphere was an experience. Just open the window wide during the night to listen to the chirping of the cupboards - awesome pure farm!

Very neat, large thatched roof roundabout. With a pool table, large neat bathroom and all the necessary kitchen facilities such as a microwave, two plate stove, kettle, pots and pans and cutlery. We were also spoiled with tea, coffee, sugar, milk, biscuits and juices and yoghurt. Also got a bag of wood to stoke the indoor fireplace on the cold Saturday night.
Our family arrived at Memory Ranch after a long, difficult drive with 2 small children. The unit was beautiful and equipped with everything we needed. It's definitely a place we will see again. 10 out of 10! 5 star. Unbelievable!

Very good accommodation, on the farm at Trompsburg. Friendly family on the farm and reception. Two beautiful sheepdogs and extra safety for those who are afraid of farm life. Only a 6 km dirt road to Memory Ranch, but only there, the rondavel offers so many amenities and even a fireplace for the cold winter evenings. Would definitely stay here again.

The unit we slept in has no security gate or burglar bars in front of windows that can open. On the contrary, no anti-theft. The wooden door is also not safe at all. The place is on a farm and we were very concerned about our safety.
We were well received and got a huge place to stay! The owners are not shy about making coffee facilities, biscuits, milk and breakfast cereal available. If one is prepared to drive 6 km from the N1, Memory Ranch is just the stopover. Thank you very much.

We had a few hitches. The shower was badly blocked, the toaster kept tripping the electricity and the mug in the bathroom had not been washed from the previous day’s guests. Despite this, we enjoyed our stay.

The people make you feel very much at home. Children enjoyed the animals on the farm. We could barbecue and hang out, it was really nice.
My parents have spent the night there in the past and make it a deliberate overnight stop every time they venture south. They have stayed 3 times and just can't get enough of it.
If you are looking for a place to stay and you drive past Memory Ranch, you are making a mistake. We are extremely hospitable and received kindly. The complementary items in the fridge and on the shelf were a winner. Everything needed for a comfortable stay was provided.

Fantastic place to spend the night between Cape Town and JHB or Kruger Park. Felt peaceful and at home. Friendly reception and since it was very cold we slept warm. The fireplace was a winner. Beds have warm blankets on them and the owners make sure you are happy and comfortable. The animals are very cute, especially the tame meerkat. I will definitely stay there again.

It was the second time my wife and I stayed there. Everything we needed was available. The beds were wonderfully warm with electric blankets.
The service, starting from requesting the time of arrival, to welcoming, explanation of what's available once arrived, and having an indoor fire lit to alleviate the cold, was exceptional. Our unit slept eight, so our party of 5 adults (including 2 grown teenagers), was accommodated quite comfortably. Value for money can't be beaten as the fee included a unit with DStv, a pool table, breakfast cereals, joghurt, fruit juice, tea, coffee, an indoor fire place, heater, indoor braai, and secure parking. The unit was also exceptionally clean.

Memory Ranch is a working farm with enough friendly people and animals to make any visitor feel comfortable. Trompsburg is a few kilos away and offers a limited selection for last minute shopping. We battled the last October cold snap with a big bag of firewood. Thank you for a nice stay.

The accommodation was comfortably furnished and we could immediately light the fireplace. I always wonder why toilet and bathroom facilities are in one room - especially if there are many people staying in one unit?
When we got there the fire was already lit. The owners met us at os vehicle and showed us everything inside. We immediately felt at home. The place is excellently equipped. Not just for one night but for a wonderful relaxing experience. There are warm blankets and heaters for the cold nights. Juice, yoghurt, breakfast and milk were ready for us. We are very grateful for the friendly reception we received. We would definitely recommend the place to everyone. We used WAZE navigation to get there and it took us directly to the place without any detours and even if it wasn't for that the owners made sure we had the right directions beforehand by email as well as she called me and whatsapped on the way to make sure we were still safe and that we could find the place without difficulty. Truly an excellent place, people and service.
Thatched unit, excellent value, takes lots of fire from fireplace to heat up huge space, could have done with more fire wood, even at extra cost. The hosts, Sammie and Pieter, were very pleasant. Unit sleeps seven. Will stay there again. Rustic but good and clean.

Big surprise was that Sannie, the owner, let us which of the two accommodations we wanted to stay. Not knowing much about Memory Ranch we took a chance on staying there. Sannie SMSed us while we were on our way to find out approximated time of arrival and bid us safe travel. Upon arrival we were welcomed with utmost sincerity and shown our chalet which was absolutely lacking in nothing. What a pleasant surprise to find a wonderful relaxing spot to stay run with dedication by the owners, Pieter and Sannie, who went the extra mile for us in every respect. Looking forward to staying there again.

5 Minutes after we arrived the power went out. We understand that this can happen due to the location etc. When it started to get dark we wanted to light the paraffin lamp but there were no matches. My husband had to go to the main house to ask for assistance but the young couple who were in attendance could not find any matches in the main house either (the owners were away). Eventually they lit our lamp from their gas stove. The power came back on shortly after this and then I think every moth and mosquito attacked us. We moved indoors and eventually had to keep all the windows closed as the problem became so bad. There is mosquito net on the windows but this is torn and broken so did not help the problem. The shower is very unsafe! It has a deep "hole" in the centre and there are no hand rails to help balance yourself. The kitchen was comfortable and had all essential items. I feel that being charged R700 for the night was most definitely not worth it! The photos of the outside of this establishment are misleading.

We only arrived at the farm after 19:00, in our room a heater was on and everything was in its place, very neat and clean. We were received very kindly and Sannie even warned us via SMS that there might be load shedding and what we should do then. We didn't arrive until 8:00 p.m., and Sarie had already learned where we were going from the early evening. She and her husband waited for us at the farm. We left the fort again at 04:00 the next morning and there were no problems getting out. The chirping of the shacks at night was so truly South African!

The cottage is fairly new and comfortable. Luckily we have made provision for frozen water pipes! Thank you for allowing us to walk in a very large grazing camp where sheep graze. The hot water was adequate, but the pressure in the shower was substandard.

A lot of effort has been put into the house. Clean and comfortable beds. Lawn for children to play, beautiful garden.

There is a top wooden deck with 3 single beds and 1 double bed, and on the ground level, there is a room with 1 double bed, and the living area is furnished with a single bed. There is a bathroom fitted with a shower, basin, and toilet. All linen and towels are provided. Other facilities include an indoor braai, pool table, and fireplace, as well as an outdoor braai area next to the unit. All units have a microwave oven, 2-plate stove, complimentary cereal breakfast, and tea- and coffee-making facilities and are suitable for self-catering purposes. Memory Ranch provides safe parking near the units and a trampoline in the garden for kids.
