Modderfontein has just 15 unmarked camping stands, allowing for privacy and intimacy, or freedom for larger groups travelling together. There is no electricity on the camp stands. There are 2 neat, tiled ablution blocks, and hot water is provided by a wood-burning 'donkey-system', to soothe body and soul after a long day on the road. The ablutions have easy access for paraplegic visitors.
No camping experience is complete without a nice big campfire in the evening. Braai your steak, make a traditional 'potjiekos' and relax around the campfire.
Explore the farm at your own leisure, walking down to the unique potholes in the river through breathtaking fields of wildflowers or for the more energetic, mountain biking to the rocky outposts. See the quiver trees in all their glory.

The campsite is very basic with two ablution blocks. No electricity but very nice hot showers. It was very nice and beautiful there.
The campsite is beautiful, clean and perfectly located. It's just a shame that on our second night the management allowed 2 families to sleep inside the communal boma.
A lovely spot in nature, surrounded by flowers and hills. Good location, easy access, lovely ablution facilities, and very friendly hosts. Loved Modderfontein. Thanks for all the flowers and the small piece of olienhout-tree, Uncle Koenie.
Exposed to road with all passers-by able to see I was alone there. Yard makes untidy impression with piece of car exhaust lying around, stack of bricks etc. Lapa very nice with ingenious expandable brick surface. To be fair I was obviously the only customer in a long time and they did fire up the donkey just for me.

We were very lucky to see the flowers so beautiful and the campsite had beautiful flowers everywhere. Uncle Coenie is very friendly and helpful and likes to tell us about the different types. The ablution rates are really very nice, clean and tidy. Only downside, we were under the impression there was power but it wasn't a big problem as we have solar panels. It's a little way out of Springbok which means it was very quiet and peaceful and felt safe.
One with nature. Camping on the farm is necessary to feel oneness with wonderful creation again. The management came twice every day to see if everything was in order and that facilities were in place. Will camp here again but this time for much longer! Thank you so much for an amazing experience!
Fabulously clean ablutions with copious hot water. The camps are simple but everything one needs is provided. The view is fabulous.
It was dry, so no flowers, but the place was really nice and peaceful. Very friendly owner.
Very peaceful and quiet also very safe environment. Friendly reception and service. Only problem was the shower and toilet doors don't have slides on them and are a problem with larger groups as they are mixed facilities.
A really beautiful camp and spotless ablutions. Pity a bunch of 4X4 guys pulled in and spoilt the peace and quiet.
Very nice campsite. A bit uneven, but some trees and greenery when we were there. The ablution facilities are some of the cleanest we have ever found at a campsite. Beautiful surroundings to explore. No power, but lovely hot showers and plenty of taps near campsites. You can stand where you want. Stayed one night, but really enjoyed it.
What a wonderful family. So hospitable. Even though we were the only ones in the Campground, no trouble was spared. Koenie made sure we had plenty of hot water and Rina saw to it that we were sheltered from the wind by the lapa. We were only sorry that we were too early for the flowers, but it looked like there was going to be a great display. We would certainly stay here again, and would highly recommend Modderfontein.
Very good for if you want to come and see flowers. Owner friendly and helpful. The dry riverbed can be cleaned of plastic bottles.

A beautiful old place! We could gaze at the starry sky in glory without any other lighting interfering with our viewing. The whole campsite was full of beautiful old flowers that just made one feel happy. We were able to clean ourselves in excellent ablution facilities with delicious hot water for everyone. Everything was nice and clean and in working condition. Host was too friendly and helpful! Would definitely recommend this gem to everyone. Thank you very much!
