I can definitely recommend Murray Guest Farm. It is perfectly located if you want to enter Transfrontier Park early the next day. The forest camp was amazing if you like the forest experience. The loveliest dunes behind camp where the children played wonderfully in the sand and we could watch the sunset. Could make a huge campfire and have a great time. Everything you need was there. It was definitely a highlight of our holiday to Kgalagadi.
It's a must for any traveler.
The place is good for an overnight stay. Unfortunately, our bed had a plank under the mattress and the plank's sides were very sharp. You can get quite hurt. The reception was a bit confused, but warm. No other problems.

We stayed in the forest camp and it was so peaceful and beautiful. The owners were extremely friendly and we had everything we needed.
For a quick overnight stop in the great Kalahari, Minette's Murray Guest House is highly recommended. Neat and rustic, with everything you need. The wall heaters in the rooms were very welcome. Breathtaking starry sky completes the picture.

Accommodation is good, but the bushcamp needs a bit of improvement. During heavy rain, the units in the bushcamp are certainly not waterproof, but of course, this is the Kalahari, where it does not rain all that often. The atmosphere and location are special.
On our arrival there was a scramble to get beds in one room. Bedding arrived about an hour later. Rooms do not have doors. Mosquitoes were a big problem. Suitable for hunting or men's getaways, my wife was not impressed, to say the least.
Beautiful surroundings with lots of bird sounds. Was great to see the strong-flowing Kuruman River.
We heard about good rains in that area and wanted to enjoy the environment, go for walks, listen to birds, photograph flowers, grasses and insects. And it all worked out perfectly.
We had a very nice stay. The air conditioners in the rooms helped a lot that we had a restful night. Very nice farm and friendly and helpful people who live here!
Recommend a small table in the bathroom for putting down toiletries. Access route from Van Zylsrus not recommended, prefer route from Askham.
The owners were courteous and very helpfully were happy to supply us wood for the braai at no cost. The owner was enthusiastic and happy to answer any questions as well as assist us where possible.
Well equipped chalet where you can enjoy a perfect braai under an incredible starry sky. Don't forget anything because it's far from everything. The rooms have air-con for the hotter nights. The owner is friendly and also prepared the fireplace for us to braai at night with beautiful wood. Thank you!
Murray Guest Farm is excellent, well located from Askham, which makes it possible to use the farm as a base, to explore the area. Just need a little paint / maintenance, here and there.
Minette received us kindly at their self-catering guest rooms. Everything was spotless despite a full blown Kalahari dust storm. The freshness of the rooms with beautiful personal touches makes up for the dryness and dull environment outside. We recommend Murray Guest Farm to everyone who is on their way to or from the Kgalagadi. The air conditioning in the master bedroom was especially welcome!
As an individual traveller this is one of the best places I've stayed at. Large, clean, very good value for money and very friendly hosts. Highly recommended.
Pleasant stay. Sufficient for over night. Well armed against cold. Work is underway from Askam. In a year or 2 maybe designated via Van Zylsrus.
Thank you for the most incredible start to our Kgalagadi adventure. Murray Gasteplaas was so isolated and quiet, the sunset and sunrise were perfectly witnessed from the dune. It really is an excellent stop-over place to catch your breath. If we ever come back that way we will 100% stop there again. The little basket with washing detergent, dishwashing cloths etc. was appreciated too.
Friendly reception by the hospitable owners. Became good friends. Wonderful accommodation with everything that you need.
If you want chrome and glass - go to Suncity. Murray Gasteplaas is in the Kalahari, and run by the passionate Rossouw family. We were fortunate to join them on their farm and experience their efforts on the rehabilitation of Meerkats. The accommodation is adequate - good beds, linen, hot water, etc. Full kitchen. Quiet and very safe. Most beautiful starry skies at night. Wood, potjie, grid - all supplied.
Johan and Minnette are incredibly hospitable people! I never miss driving Murray Gasteplaas again. We had an incredibly nice stay Johan and Minette made us feel part of Askham's community! Fantastic, fantastic, fantastic!
