The beds are very hard and uncomfortable. The TV not working. The freezer is cold but the fridge part is warm. No hot water in the en suite in the morning.
We were upgraded to Blue Gum which was a 3 bedroom cottage, even though we booked a two bedroom. The place was neat and clean and very spacious. It had air conditioning which helped with the heat. There were some mosquitoes which bothered me a bit. But otherwise we had a good stay.
Late-night parties in the laid-back neighborhood where Pepper Tree is located.
This is a place in Beaufort West that I can recommend with a song in my heart. Centrally located, safe and super clean and tidy.
My husband and I with our two adult sons arrived from Cape Town hot and tired with two cats. The cats were quite traumatized after six hours in the car and we needed to find a vet to get medicine to calm them the next day for the onward journey to Bloemfontein - another six hours. Illne went the extra mile (more like extra 10) to get hold if the vet. She personally picked the meds up from the vet and brought it to us. This was after hours and she had her little kids with her. She did all this with the biggest, most beautiful smile. Nothing was too much trouble. As for the cottage, it had everything you could need for a comfortable stay. We were very tired and didn't do much, but everything was as promised.
Had a great stay there. The house has everything you need. Everything was clean and tidy, and was kindly received.

The house has great character and has everything you could need if you are sleeping there in the winter, but also a beautiful braai area which will be perfect in the summer months.
Great stay albeit just as an overnight stay on our way to Eastern Cape. One note to owners is to provide instructions on how to use the induction hot plate as we couldn't work that out.

Refuse bin needed replacing in the kitchen and bath towels need replacing but towels on beds were good.

We stopped over at Blue Gum Cottage for one night. It has three rooms, with a master bedroom, one extra bed and an en-suite bathroom. There is also a separate bathroom for other two rooms. It was clean and tidy and had everything we needed for a comfortable overnight stop. Also large fenced yard for puppies to stretch their legs. Living room furniture a bit on the old and uncomfortable side, but only slept over so didn't bother too much. Ilse was great with the check-in and very friendly and helpful! Felt welcome right away.

Very neat, and had a very nice stay. We could only check in at half past 2 (and we calculated our time as on booking for 12 hours) and had to make up time for an hour and a half (as we had to work on time for attending a wedding). The next morning the cleaner already knocked on the door at 09:00 after the check-out time according to our reservation was 10:00. Other than that we had a wonderful stay.
We were warmly welcomed by Francis, she made sure we had all we needed and were comfortable. The cottage is cosy, clean and very tidy - we even made a return trip. Thank you Francis.

We were received very friendly and friendly. Francis himself also only lives in the house next door. Francis is a pretty believer and can have a nice conversation. Place was neat and well equipped. Alarm system gave peace of mind, especially us who come from Johannesburg and are used to it and prefer it.
Very unhappy about the location. Barbed wire everywhere we looked! We immediately noticed and realized that it was unsafe place. Owner called us at 2 in the morning to tell us the amred response said our alarm wasn't activated, didn't sleep a wink. We expected the worse after we read about the burglary in the visitor's book. We didn't feel safe!
The clean, neat and spacious rooms, convenient bathrooms, cosy beds and safe parking made it the ideal overnight place for a family of three.
We were welcomed warmly by Francis, who went out of her way to wisen us up about everything at our disposal including the alarm system. We had a good night's rest after a lovely meal, as recommended at the Karoo Deli. The beds were very soft and comfortable and the house lends itself to wonderful evening spent socialising. I would recommend Pepper Tree Cottage. Once again thank you, Francis, for your warm welcome and for going the extra mile asking us if we'd had a good trip and if everything was to our taste. Just stayed overnight on the way to Plettenberg Bay. Everything was in place, clean and beautifully equipped. TV didn't work and the host offered to bring another TV but we didn't need it. The small dog would be able to get out the gate and I would recommend wire mesh or something similar to cover the gate. Otherwise it's the perfect overnighter.
I would recommend the place to anyone.

It's a cute little place and the history of the house makes it special - the Morkel family who lived there before the group area law drove them out. Read it the next day instead, otherwise you might have nightmares! If you just want to sit back and relax, the DStv package leaves a lot to be desired - no kykNET, just the basic sports highlights - would love to see the cricket that was on to relax before bed!

It's a nice homely place and we enjoyed the stay. We were just not quite sure about the safety of the area as it is located against the industrial area.
The cottage met all our expectations. I suggest a corkscrew is included with cutlery and chairs at braai facilities are also cleaned to be able to use - braai facilities a big bonus.
The place was very neat and newly upgraded, and for the one night stay it was very comfortable. I will stay there even longer. Just prefer that the fridge is a little bigger.
It was +40 degrees when we arrived in Beaufort West. But I wasn't worried because I saw in the picture that there was air conditioning. Then it didn't work! The worst part was that other guests had already recorded it as broken in the guestbook a long time ago and nothing was done about it.
