No advance warning that there is no water during loadshedding. 10 liters of extra water is not enough for 4 people who all want to use the toilet after a long day's travel.

Family was on a well-deserved short holiday in Cape Calitzdorp and Oudshoorn. It was planned that we would sleep over and decided on Rest A While.
We had a nice stay. Slept peacefully, and there is everything you need. The receptionist is very hospitable, and you feel right at home. Will always stay there when we are on the road.
The service received was subpar to other places on the website we have stayed at. The room was not nice. There was no Wi-Fi and no security.
No need to get in your car and drive to a store. Within walking distance. Good roast, and good sleep. Friendly staff. Helpful. Would stay there again, recommended. Thank you.

Our prepaid reservation was not on reception's list. Had to show email as proof. At least there was room.
Makes it very unsafe and unpleasant to just stick your nose out the door. Room clean and tidy but a little tired. The little place under the trees where you could sit and eat or barbecue is badly neglected and unusable. Wooden tables and benches broken and rotten. Renovation of this area is badly needed! For R180 pn more we could have spent the night across the road in a beautiful boutique guest house. With lovely garden, swimming pool and restaurant. Won't stare me down at price next time.
To close to the main road. Everything else was very good.
We booked two rooms (4 and 6). Room 4 was okay, but we were disappointed with room 6. The aircon did not work, the fridge was a cooler at best and the freeze compartment was not efficient. I tried contacting the on site manager, but lights out a 20:00 without response.
We will stay there again.

Located next to a very busy highway in terms of trucks. Had to wait three quarters of an hour for our room keys due to circumstances beyond the control of the manager. Curtains are of poor quality, leave no privacy for guests, had to use the towels to create privacy inside the bathroom.
Air con did not work, did not see the lady that checked us in again after checking in, so we could not report it.
Will sleep there again in the future as it is very clean and tidy.

The rooms are very tidy, I was quite impressed, shower and bathroom tiled with modern tiles and fittings, didn't expect full DStv, but it was there.
The place is very basic but neat and clean. No bell to ring for service if you arrive late at night.

The noise from the traffic was a bit annoying, but otherwise everything was neat and comfortable. The bed slept very well. We were not sure about safety but had no incident. Good value for money.
It is always very nice to be able to spend the night in the Karoo and we can recommend the place.
For one night's stay it is ideal. The price was very reasonable. There is parking with a lockable gate. It's close opposite the Merino restaurant, which serves the most delicious lamb. There is air conditioning, a warm blanket and heater. The fridge was very welcome and there was tea and coffee. However, the people who walked and begged in front of the restaurant shouted at each other a lot until the restaurant closed. It was very disturbing. Another problem is that Rest-A-While is located on the main street and trucks drive through town all night, past Rest-A-While.
Room is comfortable and clean. Bathroom is spacious. We had coffee making facilities, a fridge and microwave. There were plenty of warm blankets, heater and air conditioning. The restaurant across the street is definitely worth a visit. Because the rest area is directly next to the main road, the noise of the large vehicles may disturb some guests' sleep. It didn't bother us. Reception was very friendly.

The location is not very favorable. it is located on the main road between Cape Town and Johannesburg. The four-way stop at Rest-a-While is the transition of many trucks that rumble through the night. Otherwise definitely value for money.
A few things: 1) the location of the accommodation is on a very busy street and therefore very noisy with trucks passing during the night; 2) I was not aware that I would have to open the gate and had to phone to find out how to enter the premises (the opening of the gate in itself is not a problem, but if one is not aware of this it is a bit of a problem particularly if most other places have automatic gates which open when you phone); 3) it is a self-catering place with fridge and microwave, but does not have crockery or cutlery (only mugs and glasses) - most other self catering places I have stayed in on my yearly travels from the Cape to Mpumalanga supply crockery and cutlery so that you can warm take-a-ways in the microwave and also have little packets of coffee for early morning
Very pleased with the accommodation and location of the place would really recommend for an overnight stay and also a good restaurant in town.

The lady who received us was very friendly and helped us quickly. The bedding that is clean and tidy. The bathroom which is also clean and tidy. There were just no utensils like teaspoons to stir coffee. The most necessary was there.

Very cute place and quiet.
They stayed in touch. They are extremely organized and welcoming. It was super clean and so comfortable. Our only complaint was that we had to get going early and only arrived at 19:00 the night before. We slept so well. Thank you!

The room was neat and clean with the necessary facilities. The location was good for us, we just needed to stay over one night and leave again early the next morning. The shower didn't work though, which was inconvenient.

Surely the best value for money!
We will drive past next time, and sleep in another village instead. The air conditioning in the room we slept in is so noisy that it sounds like the wind is going to blow you away, and that without making it very cold. The fan is not an option because you can't turn off the light. Then we come to the bathroom, be careful when you open the faucet, you might get soaked. We were not received terribly kindly either.
