We really enjoyed our one night stay over. We had our dog with us and she enjoyed being able to explore freely and play with the other dogs. We arrived pretty late in the evening so everything was dark, and we left early in the morning so couldn't see much of the location. I would definitely stay here again, and I have already recommended it to family and friends.

Great place. We really wished there was a kettle in the rondawel that came with the coffee and mugs though. Dinner has to be preordered so they can prepare for your arrival, so a good note is letting them know beforehand. Otherwise what a lovely place!

We only stayed overnight on our way to Cape Town, but the host was lovely, got in touch with us beforehand, and so on. The rondavels are rustic and charming and this would be a lovely stay for young children with lots of space to run around and bunnies, dogs and so on.

The rooms are well furnished, bedding sufficient for the Karoo winter cold. Very nice biscuit! The communal kitchen/lounge is fantastic - Pieter came to make a lovely fire, we hung out in the lounge all evening - nice collection of CDs to listen to and books to read. The kitchen is well equipped and there is a cozy indoor braai with a long dining table. Ideal for people traveling together. The outdoor barbecue is probably very nice in the summer. Will definitely stay here again if we stay overnight in Richmond.
Convenient location, although quite close to the highway, so traffic noise audible. Comfortable rondawels, but could be cold in the winter months. Very nice communal kitchen facility.

Due to a spontaneous tour, my sister and I had to find a place to sleep for the evening at the last minute. The Rondawel contacted us personally to check on our arrival time, and stood up as we arrived. Truly a beautiful place, where a couple can spend the night together very nicely. For those who are a bit shy or want to come as groups of friends, there was minimal privacy between the bedroom and the bathroom, as the open roof and no door in between will not hide any sounds, and possibly show a picture that was not meant to be seen not. It's easily preventable by just going out or staying on the other side of the room. It was and remains terrific value for money, with the ideal position very close to the N1. 10/10.
Rondawel Guest Farm is excellently located for the traveller. The peaceful farm environment with good accommodation and meals available on demand is what the traveler needs after a long day in the car.
Everything was ready upon our arrival, neat and everything you need. It's peaceful and quiet. Dinner was delicious, real farm food. Hostess and host were friendly. It's a good place to stop if you're driving from Gauteng to the Cape.

Where does one even start! Best accommodation of our entire 7-day trip through the Karoo. The communal "dining room" had all the amenities; beer and cider stocked fridge and a fine selection of white and red wines on the kitchen island. Dishwasher, microwave, stove and cooktop, indoor braai, cafe dining tables, huge dining room table for a large group and wonderful living room area. All beautifully decorated in true Karoo style. Ourdoor lapa which prompted spontaneous interaction with other guests. Small and intimate setting with only 4 rondavels - love this! Rooms had crisp and clean linen, a fabulous shower head, small but fantastic kitchenette and DStv. Loved this experience.

The rondavels were all newly thatched and very comfy. We were even given rusks and milk with our tea and coffee. It is so convenient to be so close to the N1, so you are quickly on the road again the next morning. You have a separate rondavel where you can eat supper which is very tastefully decorated. A real home away from home. Highly recommended!

As one gets older, the condition and choice of mattresses is very important. The mattresses are in excellent condition. Linen and towels are high quality and clean which is extremely important to me. Thanks for that. Unfortunately the shower's water was a problem but which I have already discussed directly with the owner. This is surely something that has already been fixed and that the owner was not aware of.

Getting to the Rondawel Guest Farm was easy. Everything was ready and the fridge water was an absolute winner after the hot long drive. As a single traveling lady, I felt safe there and could sleep peacefully. I was in the process of moving and the fact that I could stop right next to the rondavel made it so much easier to carry all the luggage off.

I had to move from Potchefstroom to Cape Town, and Rondawel Gasteplaas made the overnight trip so pleasant. If I ever have to drive North I will definitely stay here again.
Rondawel Guest Farm is conveniently placed when traveling between Bloemfontein and Cape Town! The place has everything is needed for a one night crash! Lovely boma with fireplace for braaiing. Fully equipped kitchen and variety drinks on offer. Beautiful farm with peacocks and tortoises walking around. And with freezing temperatures at night the electric blankets were fantastic. Comfortable rondavel with electric blanket! Very useful in winter months. Unfortunately, very close to the highway and its accompanying non-stop road noise, also during the night.
Ideal resting place between Gauteng and the Cape. Quiet and very safe. We arrived at Tereza's place at 19:00 and she had a delicious plate of food for us. Our rondavel was clean and tidy. Everything in its place. Next time I would like to spend an extra night there to explore the area.

For us it has always been a nice overnight stay. You have a nice barbecue area or you can enjoy the hostess's delicious farm food. About 5 hours drive from Mossel Bay. Just right for us as older people who don't want to drive that far in one day.
Accommodation was perfect for a family with a small child, the child could enjoy playing on the climbing frame and cascar. Particularly friendly host, who made us feel very welcome. Could have a great barbecue, relax, stretch your legs and sleep comfortably in the rondavel which offers more than enough space.
Friendly reception. Hostess gave us an option for dinner - what a delicious plate of peasant food! It was nice to be able to stretch my legs on the farm after the long road.

However, the shower head was clogged and so it was difficult to get a shower. But overall a great experience along the long road. We will definitely stay there again.
Owners have gone out of their way to make it as comfortable as possible after a long day on the road. The tranquility of the surroundings was truly a plus and there is enough for the small team to keep them busy. The cleanliness of the rondavel and dining area impressed me a lot. The central kitchen is well equipped and you can prepare your own meal (braai) or request that a delicious dinner be prepared for you at a reasonable price. We will definitely go there again.

5th time we spend the night here. The nice peaceful atmosphere of the farm, the choice to braai or eat a delicious farm meal at the hostess makes it just so much more enjoyable. Then you sleep so sweetly. Hot water and delicious coffee and rusks in the morning before driving. What more do you want?

Knowing we had a long day on the road, we enquired about the possibility of dinner. No problem said our host Tereza and we were served an absolutely delicious meal shortly after arrival. Our accommodation, in a cleverly designed Rondawel, was very comfortable and we enjoyed the luxury of an electric blanket to stave off a cold Karoo winter night. Warm friendly service.

This is the second time that I've stayed at Rondawel and it's the perfect overnight place between Cape Town and Johannesburg. The huts are set out very nicely and the atmosphere is peaceful. The food that can be arranged beforehand is also lovely.
The warmth of these Karoo people is really something we embraced. The late afternoon rain shower brought out the beauty of the Karoo. We will definitely want to stay there again.

We stayed overnight at Rondawel on our journey between Pretoria and Cape Town. The accommodation was so comfortable, clean and tidy. The farm provided an opportunity for the children to run around and play after a long day of driving in the car. The turtles, bunnies and birds were very exciting for them! We were very grateful to be able to have dinner there, and the dining facilities are so well equipped with everything one would need! The barbecue, salad and sandwich that Tereza brought us were top notch. We will definitely be back next year.
We were only notified when we arrived that there would not be a breakfast available prior to our departure in the morning. This caused unnecessary delays trying to find breakfast on the remainder of our journey home.

This is the third time we have stayed here. It's out of the way, it's peaceful and an ideal halfway point between Mossel Bay and Bloemfontein. You can either order a delicious farmer's food meal in the evening and eat in the neat dining room or barbecue yourself in the spacious braai area with the nice thatched roof and chairs and take advantage of the farm atmosphere and for the bird watchers quite a few species to watch right there to sit and watch. The Rondawels are also beautiful and deliciously cool on the sweltering hot days or nice and warm in the winter. There is ample parking. What more could one want?
We were able to relax peacefully after a long journey, barbecue in lappa and use all dining/kitchen facilities. Nothing was missing. The rondavel room is neat, comfortable and clean, like all the other facilities.
Our stay was only for one night and we found it to be a very peaceful and safe environment. The owners were very friendly and came to see if everything was alright after our arrival. Unfortunately, we only found out later that evening that there was no real water supply to the shower. It was a disappointment because one enjoys a nice shower after a long day on the road. We stayed in rondavel 4 so maybe it would be good to mention it to the owners.

We had a lovely sleepover, despite the cold. We could use the indoor braai, there is even a fireplace. Tereza provided us with barbecue, salad and bread. We had the whole lapa to ourselves and felt completely at home. Afterwards we could crawl into a warm bed with an electric blanket. It's just off the N1 and therefore easily accessible, but it also makes the roar of traffic audible. It's a comfortable place to stay.

Our halfway stop over at Rondawel Guest Farm was perfect. Our GSD dogs had such fun exploring the stream and the grounds. The interior design of the establishment was very well thought out with nothing lacking. Our only disappointment was that the owner was away and we missed out on the renowned Karoo dinner. It would have been nice if each unit had its own small braai, there is one braai for all the guests. Not everyone always feels comfortable having a barbecue among strangers while they are busy with their own things in the same room.
Slept and ate very well.
This is the 3rd time we stopped over from Cape Town and it's well worth the stop.

You have to take your own cold drinks and snacks with you, but it's delicious and peaceful, especially after a long drive! My dogs could play and we could have a really delicious dinner.
Top value for money, we had a choice before we got there of what we wanted, (supper, wood, breakfast etc), on arrival there were no delays. Room spacious and tidy, food court and braai facilities well planned.
We got some great at Rondawel after a long day on the road. My dogs were also very welcome and they could walk around as they wanted to. The facilities are more than value for money and the owners are very friendly! Thanks for your hospitality Tereza!

During our trek to the Cape, we arrived at the Rondawel Guest farm with fully loaded cars and weak legs. We were immediately grateful for the coolness of the rooms and very happy to each get a comfortable and convenient bed for our aching bodies. The owner keeps in good contact with you and the fully equipped kitchen makes it easy to just spend the night or even have a holiday on this piece of heaven on earth. The picturesque surroundings are inspiring and everyone in the group relaxed with great ease and enjoyed the evening.
As a half way stop it was lovely to just relax in the farm atmosphere. We were able to walk around a bit to stretch our legs, shower and get ready for dinner which was served in the beautiful dining room where various drinks were also available if you wanted something useful. The meal itself was a delicious farm food meal. There is plenty of parking on site and our vehicle and trailer were able to park with us which made it feel safer. The night was cold but the nice heater and electric blanket made you completely forget about it. So thanks to our hostess.
The sleeping rondavels were neat and well equipped. The lawn and tree-rich yard in the Karoo creates a pleasant atmosphere after a long day on the road. The cozy dining and socializing area makes one feel at home, while the pre-regular dinner was farmer's food at its very best.
We really enjoyed it. Will definitely be back.
We arrived late and left early. Don't know how the food is, but the place is nice.
Nice overnight stay between Bloemfontein and Cape Town. Well looked after - everything that was needed. Nice dinner. Friendly reception - Therese van der Merwe's arrangements ran on oiled wheels. Was able to relax and move around a bit after arrival. Traffic at night from N1 was a bit troublesome.
We used Rondawel for overnight on a long road. It's ideal, next to the N1 without being bothered with traffic, quiet on a farm. Amenities are functional and pleasant. Rondavel is used as a place to sleep and then there is a central dining and relaxation room, with a lovely log fire to drive away the winter cold. All facilities available, safe and clean.
So so quaint and the food was delicious. Will recommend any day.
The rondavel in which we stayed was neat and very well equipped for the price range, and Tereza was very friendly and helpful. The location was also easy to find, just off the N1, which made this a very convenient overnight destination en route to Cape Town. We will definitely stop there again!
I enjoyed my stay here. The rondawels are cosy and the central dining/lounge/kitchen area is well equipped. Visitors can order a cooked dinner, order a barbecue pack or bring their own food. I chose the first option and the food was delicious. I especially like the pumpkin fritters, which are often too sweet. These ones had a delicate and delectable flavour. The traffic on the highway is audible but not loud enough to be disturbing.
The facilities were neat and clean and the reception was friendly.

Pieter and Theresa are very friendly. The bedrooms (rondavels) are extremely clean and comfortable and the shared dining room/kitchen/barbecue area is extremely clean and has everything one needs. I have stayed here before, and will again. One hears the N1's traffic but it does not disturb. If you like soft or limp pillows on your bed, take your own.
The place is beautiful. Green grass, trees, you can hardly believe you are in the arid karoo. Tereza's attention to detail is noteworthy. We lacked nothing in the kitchen, and really had a great time. This is definitely a stopover we will stay at again.

Good reception. Delicious dinner and breakfast. The trucks on the N1 were a bit noisy. Power failures every now and then, but we reckon it was an Eskom issue.

Accommodation at Rondawel Guest Farm comprises 4 thatched-roof rondavels, which sleeps between 2 to 4 persons. These rondavels are tastefully decorated and have 1 bedroom; equipped with either a double bed and or 2 single beds, with an en-suite or separate bathroom. Each unit also contains facilities such as fans, heaters, electric blankets, a bar fridge, and tea- and coffee-making facilities.
Delectable meals and drinks can be arranged at a cost, and are served in the separate dining area that has a thatched roof. The guest house also features a communal kitchen that is well-equipped for self-catering purposes, and braai amenities can be pre-arranged as well. There is also a cemented dam for guests to take a refreshing dip in on hot days, and a jungle gym for children to play on.
