Camping enthusiasts will delight in one of 24 award-winning camping and caravan sites in the rugged Karoo environment. Communal ablutions with showers and baths, and kitchen facilities with stove plates and a scullery are available. A coin-operated communal laundry is available at the campsite.

The place was very neat and clean. Staff helpful, professional and very friendly.
This place has so much potential. However, this was my worst experience yet. There was a very large spider in the pull out sofa bed. The management will definitely have to do something about the ants. I struggled to pack the pram as I couldn't stand still because the ants. The wildlife we could see was also considerably less. No longer a favorite stopover for me.

A few things you need to know which were not really very clear to me. I have only 3 days in Cape Town coming back from Tristan da Cunha before flying back to France. I have been 2 years ago in Kruger, Marakele and Addo SanParks. I met very nice ladies who helped me to organise my trip to the Karoo, but maybe I didn't understand or they didn't know that when booking a camping night, one needs to have a tent or a caravan. I understood that I could book a tent or a caravan. So when I arrived, I was in trouble as I just had a sleeping bag. Fortunately, there was a room available. You also need to know that a 4x4 car is necessary (it is not necessary for Kruger, Marakele and Addo as I have driven everywhere). In the Karoo, if you want to give yourself the best chance to see lions (only 10) and black rhinos (I suppose not even 10), you need a 4x4. I did the 45 km loop with my little car and I saw many animals except the 2, which is a bit disappointing when you come from so far and maybe will not come back. But I am involved in animal conservation and was last year a candidate for législatives élections representing the French Animalist party. There was no way to have information about this very fragile species.
Lovely restaurant and little shop. Large unspoilt clearings in which you can catch your breath when you come out of the city. If you need to relax this is the place for you. At the top of the plateau you can see into the distance. There are plenty of routes suitable for normal vehicles, but if you want to explore the whole park, a 4x4 is a must. There are places to stay where you can only get out with 4x4 and lions up in the mountains. And make no mistake, wildlife diversity is fantastic.
Beautiful world to discover. The accommodation was perfectly tidy, well equipped and clean. The next morning's breakfast was delicious and the staff's service was cordial and professional.
The bird hide is not up to standard, the whole place has grown under the reeds and will need to be upgraded.
Maintenance excellent. What struck me is that the brass buckles and hinges of the windows and brass outside faucets and fire hydrants are polished bright. As a little boy I could remember the Kruger National Park was also so clean and shiny. (Not anymore today, and besides the thing is broken and doesn't work anymore).
Although we had a very good night's sleep, we observed that maintenance is urgently needed. E.g. at unit 32 plaster was broken at the braaier. Coal holder is rusted through with a hole in it. Chairs on the porch are lumbar.
Hospitable, friendly and helpful staff. Facilities neat and clean, restaurant excellent and the park and wildlife a treat for the eyes after good rain. The shop is more than adequate, even for a nice braai.
Would definitely recommend SANParks Karoo national Park.

Perfect location for a weekend in the Karoo.
Karoo National Park was a big surprise. Unfortunately we traveled with a low vehicle and could not travel through the entire park. The accommodation is fantastic, and nothing was out of place. I would highly recommend it for travelers who need an overnight stay on their way to the Cape. We will probably stay two nights next time.

Seeing that the resort is deep in the bush, it was very peaceful, just what the soul needed. The unit is probably bigger than most townhouses I know with a nice veranda where the fields, animals and a nice fire could be enjoyed. Definitely a place to visit if you are in the area.

The Aussicht was wonderful, the Chalet gut gepflegt und ausgestattt. Es gab ein gutes includiertes Frühstück. In the Park we have seen few Tigers, konnten dafür in the Bird Hide diligent Webervögel beim Nestbau beobachten. The landscape is spectacular.
We were completely satisfied. The staff at the reception and in the restaurant were very friendly and answered all the questions. The Chalet was clean and well equipped. Our highlight was that when we left the park in the morning we still saw 2 lionesses next to the street!

Rooms are not cleaned even though they are advertised as such. The staff states that this is because Covid is. During check-in, the staff were not helpful, and we were not informed about the breakfast and the park itself. The park is beautiful and it's still worth it.
The cottages are comfortably furnished and the campsite is tidy. We also enjoyed the breakfast the next morning and the drives through the national park were amazing. We saw so many animals and the field looks healthy.

When we drive into Karoo Park's gate, we know the holiday has begun. The silence, the Karoo bushes, the look, look and look again until you see something and the clear night sky let us immediately relax and forget about the hectic life in the city. It's peace of mind.
Our stay with the caravan was nice with friendly staff and clean stands. We didn't see many animals but we saw some wildlife.

It is always difficult to find the right overnight spot whilst travelling through the Karoo. SanPark Karoo National Park exceeded our expectations. We can recommend this venue to anyone. However, the only thing we have found a surprise, was the additional entry fee when we arrived.

It was just a stopover en route to Johannesburg from Cape Town. Karoo National Park - magic little gem of a place. Wished we had booked an extra few days. Great hospitality, wonderful staff. Accommodation was way above expectation.
The park lives up to expectations and it is worthwhile visiting.
The Karoo National Park is an exceptional experience. We were overwhelmed by the scenery. We were deeply impressed by the impact of the drought. We once again realised how briefly our lifetime compares to the 250 million year geological and ecological history contained in the Karoo story.

Towards late afternoon the great, unyielding canopy slowly softens its fierceness, and from pastel shades of pink and blue the colours deepen, setting the endless Karoo canvas ablaze with glorious hues of orange and red.
The Main Rest Camp boasts Cape Dutch-style units, all with stunning panoramic views of the Karoo landscape. All accommodation is self-catering, but breakfast at the restaurant is included in the price of the accommodation units. The accommodation is serviced daily with bedding and towels provided.
The rest camp swimming pool and accommodation units are all within easy walking distance of the reception and restaurant area.
Camping enthusiasts will delight in one of 24 award-winning camping and caravan sites in the rugged Karoo environment. Communal ablutions with showers and baths, and kitchen facilities with stove plates and a scullery are available. A coin-operated communal laundry is available at the campsite.

The Old Schuur Interpretive Centre is set in an old farm building, renovated to reflect its original form, and dates back to the 1800’s. Positioned just outside the rest camp near the camping site, the centre is accessible via a beautiful wooden boardwalk. It offers historical displays and information on the flora and fauna of the Karoo, as well as the ecological and cultural history of the Park.
