The Skukuza Rest Camp in the world-renowned Kruger National Park is situated on the southern banks of the Sabie River, and is the park’s largest rest camp and administrative headquarters. The camp is well foliaged and there are some lofty trees along the river’s edge. Activities and facilities are diverse, as are the animals and plants found both within the camp and in the surrounding areas.

The Skukuza Rest Camp offers a bank, a post office, car hire, a deli and a shop, a restaurant, a communal laundromat, filling station, garage with workshop, communal kitchens and ablutions, braai facilities, 2 swimming pools for overnight residents, a car wash, an auditorium and conference facilities, a day visitor picnic area located 4 km outside the camp with its own swimming pool, and the Skukuza Indigenous Nursery located approximately 5 km outside the camp.

Activities at Skukuza Rest Camp include guided bush walks, and morning, night and day game drives in the company of trained field guides, bush breakfasts and bush braais, a 9-hole golf course, Stevenson Hamilton Memorial Library, seasonal kids educational programmes, wildlife films on the big screen daily except Sundays, Lake Panic Bird Hide located approximately 7 km outside the camp, and through prior arrangement catered traditional dances can be arranged.

In emergencies only, late arrivals for guests with prebooked accommodation at camps within 10km from an entrance gate is allowed subject to the following conditions:
* Not allowed under any circumstances at Giriyondo, Pafuri, Phabeni or Phalaborwa Gates
* No arrivals later than 21:00 under any circumstances
* An additional cost per vehicle applies: R710 for vehicles with 8 or less passengers, R1,490 for vehicles with 9 or more passengers
* Must be arranged in advance with the gate and rest camp
* Evidence of emergency that delayed arrival will be requested

All accommodation, ablution and kitchen facilities are serviced by cleaning staff on a daily basis.
Besides a bank (only open Monday to Friday and Saturday morning) at Skukuza and an ATM at Skukuza and Letaba, no cash withdrawal facilities are available in the Park.

Day visitors will no longer be allowed to bring or consume alcohol in public areas such as parking lots, picnic sites, wildlife viewing areas or roads, gates and all other areas designated as public. The restrictions will not apply to overnight visitors who will be allowed to bring in own alcohol for consumption in the privacy of their booked accommodation and the restaurants. Like day visitors, overnight visitors will be bound by the same rules of not drinking in public.

Do not leave any food unattended, as thieving monkeys and baboons are a constant threat.

Late arrivals are only allowed in cases of emergency (proof and valid reason required) until 21:00 for guests with pre-booked accommodation at certain camps within 10 km distance from the relevant gate. An extra late arrival fee will be charged which is payable at the gate. No late arrivals are allowed at Pafuri, Phalaborwa or Phabeni Gates or any other gates for camps more than 10 km away.

The use of drones inside (and over) our national parks is strictly prohibited.
No animals may be brought into a National Park
As outdoor lighting in camps is limited, a torch/headlamp is required when walking outside at night.
No smoking is allowed inside the accommodation.

Description

Nyathi Guest House is a large luxury unit in a prime position with river views. This air-conditioned guest house comprises 4 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, and an open-plan kitchen, dining and living area. Each bedroom contains 2 single beds. Each bathroom contains a bath and a shower, and one of the bathrooms is accessible by the disabled. The kitchen is well-equipped for self-catering with a stove and oven, fridge-freezer, microwave, kettle, toaster, and utensils. The lounge features a TV with selected DStv channels. The living area opens to a covered verandah with outdoor dining furniture. Braai facilities are available.

House Rules

Please note: From 1 September 2017 all visitors over 18 years old will be required to produce an identity document, passport or alternative valid identification e.g. driver’s licence card for scanning upon entering/exiting the Parks.
A standard daily conservation fee of R440 for foreign visitors, R220 for SADC nationals with a valid passport, and R110 for South African Citizens and Residents with ID, will be required on entry to the park.

In emergencies only, late arrivals for guests with prebooked accommodation at camps within 10km from an entrance gate is allowed subject to the following conditions:
* Not allowed under any circumstances at Giriyondo, Pafuri, Phabeni or Phalaborwa Gates
* No arrivals later than 21:00 under any circumstances
* An additional cost per vehicle applies: R710 for vehicles with 8 or less passengers, R1,490 for vehicles with 9 or more passengers
* Must be arranged in advance with the gate and rest camp
* Evidence of emergency that delayed arrival will be requested

All accommodation, ablution and kitchen facilities are serviced by cleaning staff on a daily basis.
Besides a bank (only open Monday to Friday and Saturday morning) at Skukuza and an ATM at Skukuza and Letaba, no cash withdrawal facilities are available in the Park.

Day visitors will no longer be allowed to bring or consume alcohol in public areas such as parking lots, picnic sites, wildlife viewing areas or roads, gates and all other areas designated as public. The restrictions will not apply to overnight visitors who will be allowed to bring in own alcohol for consumption in the privacy of their booked accommodation and the restaurants. Like day visitors, overnight visitors will be bound by the same rules of not drinking in public.

Do not leave any food unattended, as thieving monkeys and baboons are a constant threat.

Late arrivals are only allowed in cases of emergency (proof and valid reason required) until 21:00 for guests with pre-booked accommodation at certain camps within 10 km distance from the relevant gate. An extra late arrival fee will be charged which is payable at the gate. No late arrivals are allowed at Pafuri, Phalaborwa or Phabeni Gates or any other gates for camps more than 10 km away.

The use of drones inside (and over) our national parks is strictly prohibited.
No animals may be brought into a National Park
As outdoor lighting in camps is limited, a torch/headlamp is required when walking outside at night.
No smoking is allowed inside the accommodation.

Cancellation policy

Cancelling or downgrading of a reservation 45 days or less prior to, or on, arrival will result in cancellation fees according to a sliding scale, based on the total reservation cost, which varies between 50% and 100%.

The Skukuza Rest Camp in the world-renowned Kruger National Park is situated on the southern banks of the Sabie River, and is the park’s largest rest camp and administrative headquarters. The camp is well foliaged and there are some lofty trees along the river’s edge. Activities and facilities are diverse, as are the animals and plants found both within the camp and in the surrounding areas.

The Skukuza Rest Camp offers a bank, a post office, car hire, a deli and a shop, a restaurant, a communal laundromat, filling station, garage with workshop, communal kitchens and ablutions, braai facilities, 2 swimming pools for overnight residents, a car wash, an auditorium and conference facilities, a day visitor picnic area located 4 km outside the camp with its own swimming pool, and the Skukuza Indigenous Nursery located approximately 5 km outside the camp.

Activities at Skukuza Rest Camp include guided bush walks, and morning, night and day game drives in the company of trained field guides, bush breakfasts and bush braais, a 9-hole golf course, Stevenson Hamilton Memorial Library, seasonal kids educational programmes, wildlife films on the big screen daily except Sundays, Lake Panic Bird Hide located approximately 7 km outside the camp, and through prior arrangement catered traditional dances can be arranged.
