Very modern and comfortable unit. They could invest in air conditioning for the units as it gets quite uncomfortable, and you cannot leave the windows and door open due to the monkeys. Could also use better WiFi in the units as it is only available at the swimming pool.

Unit had no small stove for "self catering". I had to ask for spoons and the plates were dirty in the bottom of the cupboard. The drain was also clogged, especially when you take a shower, the water pools up. WiFi was incredibly slow. The first day I was told that the WiFi was down in town, but I was lied to. The WiFi is available, only in one place near the pool. This is what I found out on the second day from another lady who works there.

My friend and I checked into Shonalanga Lodge. We immediately found out that a school group of about 40 children had arrived there. Shonalanga Lodge made the decision to move and upgrade us to Forest Lodge. It had been excellent. Beautiful room, clean and tidy and staff very friendly and helpful. Excellent customer service received from Shonalanga Lodge as well as Forest Lodge.

Our accommodation was in the basic room with a bathroom, very small "kitchenette" with kettle, small fridge, microwave and basic cutlery, TV and a fan. The room is clean and tidy and spacious enough for your luggage for a weekend. The staff is friendly and nimble. The parking area is just enough for your vehicle, if you bring a trailer or boat you may have to park outside. It was very convenient to be able to walk to all the eateries and shops as there is not always parking in town on weekends. We were very satisfied and would definitely recommend them.

"Units were not very clean. Drain pushed up in the shower."

It was not at all worth the price we paid. Unfortunately we had to ask them to come and remove the cobwebs. The drain backed up in the shower and they just said they couldn't do anything about it. We will not stay there again.

It's just some of the guests who made a lot of noise and the parking is too tight and a bit unsafe for the vehicles.

Goodness at reception was very friendly. Room was clean and tidy every day when I come back from my day excursions. Towels and soaps are provided. The lodge is within walking distance of all the shops and restaurants.

We arrived on the Thursday and left on the following Tuesday, every night from about 12 am and later there were cars/motorbikes arriving/leaving from the lodge. People having parties in the street, people shouting at each other and using foul language while reversing out of the lodge property, which has made us worry about drunk people crashing into our car.

Beds are not good for couples. Only for friends and family. Because it's single beds.

"Not what we expected."

We have booked two units, will give me feedback on all areas of the units: Kitchen: Dishes were generally not washed clean and we found a dirty pan still in the oven, items like the grater still have old cheese contained and the hand beater was rusted. Most of the cutlery was mismatched and not all the basic items were available. Furnace neglected with some of the lights not working, one of our units furnace blew up while we were there. Common feeling is that you grilled to use items. Refrigerator in one of the units had no shelves in the side. Bathrooms: As with the kitchen, the showers felt quite dirty. One of the units bathroom had a terrible smell coming from outside we reported it they looked into it but the smell remained. Towels were provided but were laundered well and again were mismatched, towels that were washed did not necessarily come back to the unit and we had to ask for them again. TV room: No ceiling fan or air conditioning. TV is advertised with 8 channels it rarely worked and there were often only 2 channels to watch and both TVs had very poor signal at times. Would be better if you advertise with no TV. Parking: Limited to first come first serve which has caused guests to park in front of the units' windows and other cars to park there. We had guests park directly in front of our room and get up and pack at 3 in the morning with a lot of noise, obviously waking up my 3 year old daughter. Security: There is no security, units are directly on the street and so are cars. Swimming area: Very nice. Braai area: Could do with an extra couple of braais, had to share area often with groups doing the nomad tours. We also went on to read about other people's experiences on various websites and my points above have been mentioned numerous times in the past. It was also very comical that feedback is only given on positive points and nothing where visitors complain. I think the lodge can be so much more if someone just pays attention to the little things again. My personal opinion is that the lodge gets enough income from the nomad tours that come and go and don't really have to use the units like we do and therefore don't really care about the overall condition of the place. We have been in St. Lucia and my feeling is that Shonalanga Lodge is not cheap and one can therefore expect a certain quality. Refrigerator in one of the units had no shelves in the side.

Had a lovely stay. Place was clean, staff were friendly. Only issues were the kitchen and the shower. Kitchen wasn't fully equipped as stated, for example 1 steak knife, no pans, no cheese grater. The shower head needs replacing but other than that - superb accommodation! Would recommend to any friend or family.

'n paar probleme wat ons gehad het is soos volg. 1. Die bevestiging wat ons gekry het, het gesê ons kan vanaf 12uur inklok, toe ons 13h00 daar stop toe sê hulle nee inklok tyd is 14h00 so ons moet dan terug gekom selfs na ons die bewys gewys het, sy het wel ons 'n half uur later gebel en gêse ons kan maar kom. 2. Daar word ook geadverteer dat jy fietse kan huur by hulle, maar toe ons navraag doen toe sê hulle nee ons moet gaan na een van die ander lodges en daar huur. 3. Die eendag het hulle teen 14h00 nog nie eers ons kamer kom skoon maak nie. 4. 'n ander ding wat somtyds gebeur het is die staf was redelik luidrigtig dat hul hard met mekaar praat terwyl een in een eenheid is en een in ander een wat dit onaangenaam gemaak het, dit was ongeveer 14h00/15h00 en ons is op vakansie en wil graag ontspan het dan moet ons na dit luister. 5. Laaste was die een dame wat ons op die eerste dag gehelp het se dienste nie baie vriendelik gewees nie, sy was behulpsaam in ons vrae maar nie vriendelik nie. 6. Hulle moet ook kyk hulle stowe veral die een in ons kamer kon ons nie regtig gebruik nie. Ons het baie lekker onspan in die swemabd en lekker gebraai. Ons het ons eerste keer in St Lucia geniet ons sal net kyk na ander verbly as ons in die toekoms weer soontoe sou gaan.

Quite a few things wrong. Microwave turntable not turning, kettle burning out as the auto-off switch failed, refrigerator did not chill, cupboards have a very strong mouldy smell, the dressing area is half-painted, the couch looks as if it has not been cleaned in years. The staff was however very helpful to exchange the kettle and the refrigerator (which did not fit into the area provided for it). The WiFi is free but only available under the lapa by the pool so if you do not find a seat you cannot connect. The choice of TV channels is very limited. We only stayed in the unit as long as we absolutely had to - sleeping only.

Very good accommodation. Lots of movement from visitors on tour early in the morning. So you can't sleep late. Security isn't good since there is no gate between main road and premisies for access control and windows dont' have burglar bars.
