The booking was messed up and double booked. We were placed in a poor quality house, far below the standard we expected. 50% of fees refunded but very unprofessional and will not book here again.

No, not at all. Place is not up to standard at all. Host is very bombastic and curt, does not make travelers feel at ease at all.
We had a wonderful stay. Everything in place. Friendly reception and prompt action i. g. f. air conditioners that were out of order.
No, I couldn't get the AC in the bedroom to work. Owner included, handed over keys and the air conditioning in the bedroom is just for decoration?

Well equipped for short or longer stays with extra braai and socializing area.
Owner met us at gas station and took us to the address. The house needs a paint job and a good cleaning. With load shedding there is no water available.
Kettle dirty, no biscuits and instant coffee old. No bottled water either. No hairdryer for ladies in master bedroom. Bed linen and towels, although clean, need to be upgraded. No proper shower soap available (although there was, it was a cheap type). No small cookie soap. No air freshener in toilet.
It is an experience to go and see the dam, I would recommend it to anyone staying in Gariep. There is no water with loadshedding. The air-con in the bedroom does not work and makes a lot of noise.
It's a nice place with nice rooms, clean and comfortable.
We enjoyed our stay. The place was clean and ready for self-catering purposes. The greeting we received from the host was very friendly.
The accommodation is sufficient for a one night stay. The bathrooms need some work.
Pleasant stay overall.
First impressions were not good - cracked tiles in the living room and the furniture looked tired. However, everything was spotless and we could choose which of the three rooms we wanted to sleep in. Water is readily available in tanks, but with load shedding the pump does not work and then the taps are also empty. The garden is beautiful and well maintained and there is a nice lapa for visiting.

The place was clean and tidy, a bit old but no complaints. There is enough covered parking for our vehicle and large trailer and more. The facilities are up to standard, we had a nice stay and slept peacefully.
We are disappointed. The fact that the shower is in the master bedroom bathroom! The toilet leaks and doesn't smell pleasant at all when it leaks like that! Faucets in kitchen also leak. The area did not appeal to us at all. Outside next to garage it looks very bad. Throw in old garbage, a tub-drum affair with lots of dirty water that stinks and old rotten carpets lying in there. Does not give or create a good impression.
The place was excellently clean and tidy. Staff were helpful and it was more than we expected. It was large and spacious really value for money. Would definitely recommend for a large family or gathering.
Place looks good but needs some upgrading. Lots of tiles broken, a bit musty smell on arrival but nothing serious. Otherwise neat and clean.

The house has the potential to be pleasant, but a lot of work will need to be done. The garden is neat. Inside the house is a lot of work. The bedding doesn't match, there are torn curtains and far too many chairs piled up everywhere. Pictures are not hung. Some are in the closets and others are just standing on the ground. The owner warned us not to drink the water because he hadn't paid attention to the tank for a long time. Why? He knew long in advance that we were coming and should have made sure that everything was right.
Ideal overnight stop between Gauteng and Cape Town. Very peaceful environment. At the famous Gariep Dam.
Even though children enjoyed the pool table it was a dusty and dirty house, bath was dirty on arrival, after I washed it, drain was blocked, water couldn't drain, resulting in us not being able to bathe or shower, shower was dirty . The braai inside the house worked well due to the weather. But still, the photo of the outside is not the photo of the house. If you are traveling far, you want first of all a clean place to unpack quickly and at least clean bath and toilet facilities.
The house has everything to spend the night on the trip to the coast. There was a musty smell in the house. Cleaning supplies such as a mop and bucket and scrubbing cloths would help. We enjoyed the lapa and the kids had the pool table and played for hours.
Truly what you see is what you get. Going to be staying there again on 3rd January.
Searched a while, owner found us and accompanied us.

No smoking signs should be put up, as the house had a smell of stale smoke.

We had a 3-bedroom house and secure undercover parking with all the amenities. It has a large stoep and we enjoyed the sunsets.
There is no number on the gate and some of the lights do not work. Some of the kitchen cabinets need urgent attention. The floor tiles need to be replaced.
