The restaurant was very pleasant and the food was delicious. Reception staff can give a little more personal attention to guests. Hot water for 5 adults was a bit of a problem and the person sleeping in the living room had to go through one of the bedrooms to use the toilet/bathroom. Not very smart thinking here.
We were very surprised that the owners did not make sufficient provision for lights if it is loadshedding.
Refrigerators at 2 residences were not 100% usable. Owner will also have to get rechargeable globes for kitchens, because that's where you cook, no sufficient hot water at all units. Seems to be one geyser for all three. As guests, we pay the full amount, and then you don't want to hear from the owner "you can use other people's".

It's a nice place and has everything you need.
Actually stayed at the Captains Cabin which was comfortable and peaceful at the top of the street. The Lodge is something of an institution in Springbok and the owners and staff are always friendly and helpful. The restaurant was open, albeit with a limited menu due to Covid restrictions and we enjoyed breakfasts and dinners there. They have a good range of books and best place to ask about Springbok and the area.
The Lodge consists of a restaurant/shop and bookshop which can keep one quite busy. The restaurant has a delicious locally-based menu at extremely reasonable prices. The accommodation is established within a series of historic buildings. It is not luxurious, but neat and clean.
We were very unfortunate that we visited Springbok over the coldest time of the year with a maximum of 5 degrees. Ou Dokters house is very cold and, although there was a small electric heater, an aircon may be beneficial. They can also get a more comfortable couch for the lounge area. The layout of the house is a bit funky and the shower area is extremely small.
The lodge's restaurant was very nice. Nice food. The houses you live in are nice and clean.

Although the buildings are old, there is everything you need to spend the night.

Welcome on arrival was lovely. Went out of their way to hand over accommodation earlier than normal. The restaurant is beautiful, the service very good and it's within walking distance of the accommodation. Great location, walking distance to all shops in the area. Enough to explore. Had a wonderful stay.
The accommodation was small, but everything you need for a one night or longer stay is there. The facilities were very clean and the car was securely locked behind a gate.
The reception was pathetic. No information of any kind was passed on to us.
