38 guests' feedbackAn ideal weekend away. We stayed at New Wine cottage with a medium dog. The accommodation is perfect for 4 and was well equipped. The wildlife can be spotted during the drive in and while hiking through the reserve. Will certainly be back! The restaurant and common areas are all very pet friendly and accommodating of furkids.

What a dream stay! Peaceful and inviting, we loved every single moment. Had the opportunity to see and hear wildlife near our cottage. Their well-prepared meals were definitely a highlight (and coffee)! Friendly and welcoming hosts, and their family (including dogs).
I camped for 3 nights, and Summerplace's camp is the best camp I've ever been to! I also had my mountain bike with me and enjoyed the routes every day, which are also kept very neat and clean. There are over 100 km of trails to explore! I will definitely go camping and cycling here again, it's a cycling and wildlife paradise! Thanks to the team, you have a gem of a place.

We stayed in the Marula cottage because it was fenced and we could take our baby animal with us. The farm lends itself to several hiking trails and our dog thoroughly enjoyed swimming in the various ponds.
My first holiday in 7 years because I didn't want to leave my furkids. They were welcomed, and the cottage we stayed in at Summerplace Game Reserve was pet-friendly and just beautiful. Can't wait to go back again. Just need to find openings for when we can get away again.
The tranquility falls upon you at the moment when you are through the gate. We stayed in Marula Cottage which offered a lot of privacy and best of all was fully fenced so our pooch was safe. The hiking trails offer so much viewing and our dog thoroughly enjoyed it. Even if we stayed there for a month, I don't think we would be able to explore all the paths. We didn't see much wildlife, but it was still just what we needed to recharge the batteries. Already busy planning the next visit.
We went home in the beautiful Bushwillow unit. Although it was a cold week, we didn't feel it, the cottage is modern and equipped with a cozy fireplace, as well as solar panels. Most beautiful decor and luxurious amenities. Comfortable beds and quiet. Nice walk on the porch. Very private and quiet, safe environment. Our children loved the many bike routes, as well as the delicious hot chocolate drinks at the Bike Village. We pre-ordered a few meals which were deliciously prepared. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Feel free to pack a cocktail and drive to the "View Point" for a beautiful view of the reserve. We will definitely go back again to explore more of the trails.

We stayed in New Wine Cottage. Beautifully decorated inside. Kitchen well equipped. Fireplace wonderful for cold winter evenings. The KolKol hot tub was an absolute bonus! The property is fenced so we could take our 2 dogs with us. Most beautiful woodland. Healing for body and soul. Got lost when we went for a walk! Owners came to our rescue! Thank you very, very much! We stayed in a self-catering unit which was recently refurbished. The accomodation was fantastic with everything you require for self-catering and more. Unit was well appointed two bedroom & two bathroom with gas heated water for instant hot water on demand. Open plan kitchen and lounge with good size fridge. Beautifully finished interior which was tasteful and user-friendly. Indoor wood fire kept us warm and cosy at night. Covered outdoor dining area with gas braai, washing machine and additional storage space. Nice size fire pit for creating a warm and cosy atmosphere. Outdoor wood-fired hot tub was a real treat. Off-grid electricity so we were never left in the dark. The cycling routes are well-manicured and provide options for the not-so-fit amateur to the racing snakes. Central located facility with dining area, pub, massage room and pool. Catering available to those requesting it. Nice place to chill after a ride and share a drink. Incredible night sky for those aspiring astronomers or casual stargazers. Some game including, warthog, wildebeest, impala, roan, Sable, giraffe, sebra and more and plenty of bird life. We enjoyed it so much we have already booked our next stay.
A great value-for-money getaway only 2h30 hrs from Pretoria. The Cottage as well as the whole Game Reserve is a beautiful retreat and offers many opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts! The owners and operators are extremely friendly, accommodating and happy to help!

We really enjoyed our stay at York's View. The accommodation had plenty of amenities for entertainment (a swimming pool and hot tub) and self-catering purposes (gas stove, large fridge and braai stand). The bedrooms are well equipped with blankets and bathing towels. The combined beds are comfortable, and you can feel free to suitably accommodate all 12 guests. There are also extra daybeds. If you follow the pinned location you are sent by the owners, you should arrive there with no challenges. The only problem we had was one of our cars getting stuck in the sand. Please do make a plan regarding the sand for those travelling with small cars. Because where the sand gave us problems, there was no network and if we were just travelling as ladies, I'm not sure we would have managed. Please also consider making the game drive longer or increasing the routes, maybe then we would have seen more animals. We only managed to see the giraffes when we were leaving after checking out. Overall, Summerplace Game Reserve is a beautiful place with lovely sunsets. The caretaker (Respect) was very much helpful, he went out of his way to ensure we were okay and comfortable. I would definitely recommend it and plan to make another booking with them in the near future.
We are big fans of considered design and the Shed has lots of nice touches by people who clearly have a good eye. If you don't mind being right next door to other people and hearing a bit of chatting, music, etc then this place is a 10.

Really enjoyed Summerplace. From our arrival where we were received so warmly until we left, felt like family. We saw a lot of animals on the farm, had fun driving around on our own. Very cute accommodation with all that was needed, we stayed in Shed no 3 (we really enjoyed that porch sofa). Simone is an outstanding cook and we had a delicious brunch on Saturday and her Easter dinner on Sunday was top notch. Would definitely recommend Summerplace, we had a great rest. Beautiful boma too!
We only stayed one night and used the camping facilities. The facilities are basic and the worst light is at the ablution. Unfortunately the hot water in the ladies didn't work and in the men only one shower had hot water. We had dinner and breakfast there and it was top notch. The owners are very friendly. There is little or no cell phone reception, so prepare for some rest.
We would like to have more routes above (york's view) where small children can also ride. There were a lot of wasps - fortunately not aggressive. But we would go again - house was very clean and layout very convenient for 4 families with the 2 bedrooms having adjoining rooms.

Friendly, good service. Marula Cottage (where we stayed) was clean, stylish, tidy, private, well equipped, WiFi, no power outages (solar), gas geysers and fencing for our two dogs to roam around in when we went cycling and saw Vaalwater . Lovely quiet environment, where pets are also welcome to go for a walk with them on plenty of footpaths. One is spoiled with the most beautiful sunrises, sunsets and starry skies. Extra available was a delicious game drive with tasty snacks which resulted in very interesting game and bird watching. Our family had a very good rest and will definitely book with Summeplace again!
Was nice and quiet. The owners were very friendly. The fact that they are pet friendly just gives them a bonus point. There were many thorns in the yard but fortunately there are large spaces for playing and many footpaths. We walked nice and far. It's a cyclist's paradise.
We had the best weekend, from our arrival to our departure was absolutely lovely. Dave and Simone are excellent hosts and we are grateful that they shared their gem and dreams with us. For us 4-leggeds (which were arranged in advance) it was heaven on earth. The units are tasteful, clean and fully equipped with everything you need. Can't ask for anything more, everything was perfect! The house (Summerview) is absolutely beautiful and tasteful. The friendly hosts Simone and Dave made us, as well as our dog children, feel very welcome. The breathtaking stars are a huge bonus. Already looking forward to our next visit!
We stayed in Maroela Cottage and we loved it. If you are looking to be in nature away from the noise of city life this is the place for you. Beautifully furnished cottage with fully stocked kitchen. We did appreciate the fact that both the rooms had ceiling fans and there is always a cool breeze through the cottage because of the fact that the porch double doors can be opened. The porch is a lovely place to sit and read or have your meal. The owners had a Weber which was super easy to use for a quick braai and a lovely outside fireplace. We would suggest that you place an axe with which to chop the wood up a little smaller or maybe just making a smaller kindling pile for us city folk. Our trip arranged by the host to the rhino feed was an unforgettable experience. Friendly owners, beautiful farm - we wish you all success in your future endeavours. Note: Vaalwater Spar has more than just the basics if you forget something.
The Maroela cottage I stayed in was fantastically equipped, neat, clean and the environment quiet. It was a wonderful windfall to see such beautiful stars!

New Wine is a private, cozy, self-catering home situated near The Shed and has a gorgeous view of Marula bush. New Wine comprises 2 bedrooms with a king bed or 2 single beds, and 2 bathrooms fitted with a bath and a shower. The house features a kitchen, a living room with a TV with Netflix, a dining area, and braai facilities. The kitchen is fully equipped with a stove, oven, microwave, toaster, fridge-freezer, and tea- and coffee- making facilities.
