Lovely, neat units, enough space and would stay there again. They thought of the traveller, there is a light at every bed, a plug at every bed for everyone who needs to charge everything.
This was a stopover for us en route from the Western Cape to Gauteng, so we arrived late and left early. For that purpose, Sunset Chalets is ideal being located close to the N1. On arrival were we told that we had been 'upgraded' to a 'luxury room' but I'm not sure from what since we had booked a "luxury twin". Anyway, the room was clean and spacious and we slept well. There was a microwave oven, a small fridge and a kettle in the room which were useful. The room also has air conditioning and a ceiling fan. The bathroom was large with a shower, basin and toilet but not at all cramped. The only real complaint would be that the curtains are thin and with all the various lights on outside the room does not get very dark. There is a communal swimming pool but it seems that closes at 18:00, so we didn't get to try it. One thing I just noticed it is advertised that all rooms are shown as "free-standing" but our unit shared a wall with the next unit. Overall a nice stay and we will probably stay there again.

The reception/owner was not friendly at all. The Cape is famous for the people's friendliness and helpfulness. So it was quite disappointing that the first person we had to deal with when we entered the Cape Province treated us bot. The rooms have no information of the Colesberg and suggested places to eat etc. not. There is also no information to be able to use the WiFi. The rooms were tidy, but the 3 bedroom units did not have plates, knives, forks etc. like the 4-bedroom units.

This is the 3rd time we have stayed at Sunset Chalets. Comfortable rooms with everything needed to relax overnight. It's near the N1. The parking lot is nice and big for a car and a pram.

Nothing extravagant or uber luxurious, but definitely value for money as a one night overnight destination.
Although the facility was clean and neat, I do not feel it was value for money. This is really just a bed and shower to rest your body - even though the bed is just a cement base with a mattress on top. Don't expect a kitchenette or any cutlery and crockery (other than fairly small coffee mugs and teaspoons). If you want to braai, make sure you bring your own braai tongs, and be prepared to use the loose grid, placed on bricks - and of course your own plates and eating utensils. One gets the impression that the owners are ensuring maximum income with absolute minimum expenses - a good business model, but not to the extend that it is detrimental to your guests.
Would recommend to anyone to stay there for more than just one night.
The rooms are very nice and comfortable. Consideration could be given to putting a microwave in the rooms and also perhaps a table and chairs for each apartment outside to sit at.
Clean and lovely shower, but without a bath mat. Reception was not friendly and welcoming at all and WiFi was advertised but no information was given about it.
The mattress on the bed could be replaced. Feels like you're sleeping on the base.

Very happy with Sunset Chalets! Will stay here every time on our way to the Western Cape! The swimming pool was a bonus for cooling down after the long journey, as was the air conditioning in the room in the heat. Restaurants are nearby as well as the N1 for the rest of the trip.

The beds and everything was very nice and nice in the room. Very comfortable and nice with the aircon. We also had plenty of room to turn our large trailer. Secure parking in front of our unit. I did need WiFi and the password was not available anywhere in the room. I went to get the password at reception, but it kept saying 'out of range'. It would be nice if the password was shown somewhere in the room and if it worked.

Had a very good night's sleep, although the problem with the rooms is that the awnings are too short. A hail storm came up and I had to ask the owner if I could move my car to a bigger carport, to which he immediately agreed. Well done! Would stay there again anytime.

Reception at Sunset Chalets showed again that they are prepared for your stay with them and everything was well organized as on the previous occasion and the check-in process is always completed very precisely and quickly. This was our fifth time staying at Sunset Chalets on our way to our holiday in the Cape. We tried another place once, and were very sorry. After a day on the road, it's nice to come to a neat place to relax. We cool off in the sparkling swimming pool and grill some delicious Karoo lamb chops while the children play on the lawn. Sunset Chalets is close to (walking distance from) shops and eateries where we can get food and drink for the rest of the long drive. Staying overnight at Sunset Chalets is now part of our routine when we drive to the Cape.

We had a one-night stop-over at Sunset Chalets on our way back to Gauteng from the Cape recently on 15 January 2016. We were delighted with the service and friendliness on arrival and enjoyed a comfortable stay in clean and neat surroundings. We had a delightful supper in the nearby town of Colesberg at a restaurant recommended by the owner/manager. All our expectations were met! We highly recommend Sunset Chalets. Thank you!

On our arrival at 13:00 Sunday 3 January 2016 we were kindly informed that the town had lost one phase of electricity and had no water. So we could not get a room with air conditioning and a bath for the 2 children, 4 years and 8 months old respectively, as previously booked. At least there had been water at the resort despite the shortage elsewhere in the town, which allowed us to shower, but could not bathe the children. As the evening progressed, we were told that the power had not been restored and that we would have to be content with just a roof fan and extra stand-alone fan. We did get a discount because the air conditioning didn't work. The swimming pool helped us cool off in the afternoon heat, and the playground kept our older child occupied while we whiled away the hot afternoon hours in the cool of the lane of trees along the lawn. Yes, there are certain things that one cannot help, but perhaps a call to warn us in advance about the electricity/water in the town could possibly help to adjust our planning.
