10 guests' feedbackOnly issue was the noisy trucks on the nearby road.
The concept is great with fenced-off camps and walking routes. The tables and braai in the camp were welcome. Fences could do with some maintenance, ours did not close. Photos indicate grass in fenced camps which is not the case, very dusty. I booked specifically for the grass. I didn't see the supposed security that roams Friday and Saturday. Only one ablution block which is quite the walk depending on where you camp. Some cobwebs could be cleared in the bathroom. Also note you must sign an indemnity form which is not indicated in the listing.
We enjoyed our stay, a pool would have been amazing, especially for the kids. The river swim is not too great for them. The fenced camps are great, but the fencing and gates could use some loving.
The venue overall is clean, as were the ablutions, however, some of the amenities are in serious need of replacement because of termite-destroyed wood. There are only 2 ablutions and 2 sinks near the entrance for the entire venue. It also needs to be mentioned that the entrance road is not in good condition and only really suitable for SUVs as regular cars stand a very good chance of bottoming out really badly and taking damage. The road traffic noise at night is very noticeable, and despite the venue having a strict no music policy, it sounded like someone was having a disco nearby.
There was hot water in the ablution despite power cuts. Place is clean and tidy, people are friendly. We experienced no problems. The main route that passes by can be a bit noisy at night. Take everything you need with you as there doesn't seem to be a store nearby.
The advantage is for sure the distance from the house, and the fact that the dog children could go along! The campsite is quite well maintained, and the bathrooms tidy, although the water temperature is not what one would expect from gas. The hiking trails were disappointing, they were black swamp mud. The younger dogs loved it, the older dogs and people less so. There is no water near the pitches, so take a water jug with you. The water at the washing up area is not really hot enough to wash dishes. Also expect reasonable road noise (vehicles and trucks) through the night, but this is slightly masked by the stream next to you. Only 4 or 5 of the campsites are private, so make your choices carefully! We were lucky enough to get one of these.
The forest paths were the best! Great big campsites.
Place is beautiful and the campsite is very nice, but it is incredibly noisy. It is 100 m from the R24 and you hear cars and trucks all the time. Although the campground doesn't allow any music, their neighbors don't have the same rules and we were kept awake by very loud music and yelling that continued throughout the two nights we were there. The sound was so close, it might as well have been on the same site. We couldn't sleep at all.
Would be nice if there was a pool or area for fishing.
