The chalet was very tidy with lots of living space and very clean. The weather was not on our side, so the heating at the pool didn't work much, but we really enjoyed the place.

We stayed in a "permanent" tent. The thatched roof is not properly sealed and the bats have free access. As a result, we got little sleep with the bats flying over our heads all night.
We had a good time, even if the fish didn't bite. Vicky really put in a lot of effort and helped where she could. Will go again for sure, only when it's not so hot.

The perfect getaway, we wanted to get away from the noise and people. The Dell was ideal, we could relax in peace, the game drive was definitely a highlight with beautiful views of the Vredefort dome and Vaal River. We could end the day with a glass of wine next to a campfire on the river bank. Couldn't ask for more.

Loadshedding caught us a bit on Friday and Saturday night, but we had candles for light as well as a gas stove for cooking and a kettle for coffee. Will definitely come back in the summer. Saw a lot of wildlife as well as an ostrich that came to greet us at the door the day we left.
Our little house was very well equipped with the fishing waters just under the porch. The owners and workers are hospitable and helpful. Food at the Rooi Garnaat is tasty and affordable. We had a great stay and will definitely go again.
The staff is very accommodating. I had my dates wrong, but they really treated us very kindly and were very accommodating. The atmosphere is very peaceful. There are two tame ostriches which only made our stay even better.

We stayed in the Osprey unit, it was very neat and clean when we got there. The unit is nice and open and close to the river. The cleaning service made it convenient for both of us and we will definitely return with friends and family. The signal was bad, but nothing we couldn't handle.
Accommodation is not suitable for small children or the elderly. The chalets we have booked do not have adequate safety rails at the stairs or at the balcony. The chalet is impractical. The bathroom is tiny and it's right next to the tiny kitchen. Some of the equipment such as the toaster was also broken and the kitchen was not well equipped e.g. nor is there a salad bowl. There is also not a lot of 'counterspace' to unpack or work on anything. It depends on which chalet you book. The campsite is very beautiful and the river view is also beautiful.
This place is just so beautiful and relaxing. The management and staff are very friendly. Although the grounds were still flooded, we still enjoyed ourselves. The chalet was clean. Just what a person needs away from city life. I would recommend The Dell to anyone.

Great time at The Dell. The house was beautiful and tidy, just what you need for a break from the city. We really had a great time and will definitely visit The Dell again. Only recommendation to The Dell's owners would be to put security gates with insect nets in front of the doors and windows. Then mems can sleep well with an open glass door and still be safe from thugs, as well as from the mosquitoes and flies.

The resort on the other side of the river was bothering, especially with guests who played loud music. Beautiful accommodation with all the necessary facilities. A great weekend getaway spot.
It's beautiful with the wildlife in the camp, but had fun with the ostriches. I also appreciated that they bring the breakfast to your chalet, it makes the break even more peaceful.

The rooms are very well equipped and tidy, it's a peaceful getaway with everything around you that you need. the Rooi Garnaat restaurant is a bonus on site.
The place was very neat and clean, everything you need was there (pots, barbecue, microwave). They saw we had a baby boy and asked if we would rather move to the chalet where the braai area is covered to make it easier for us and baby at the same price, which we did, it was great considerate. We really enjoyed our weekend.

The bed linen on photos is not the same as found in rooms. For the cold area I feel there could be warmer bedding. There are 3 beds in the house with 2 extra blankets. Luckily I brought my own warm blanket. For the nice decor in the house, I feel the bathroom mats and the broken leather chair can be replaced.

The unit is right on the river which is something special, we enjoyed a big breakfast and a game drive right after. The game drive is a must, if only to see the scale of the crater. Excellent for fishermen too.
We had a nice stay and had a good time, you just need new beds and pillows. There is a dirt road to the resort that needs attention. The ostrich is troublesome and eats food from the tables. Other than that it was quiet and safe.

The resort is much smaller than advertised. No activities, such as canoeing or cycling available. The bikes that were available were only for riding through the few chalets that are there. The person in charge of the canoes was on leave. The advertised restaurant/shop was rarely open. The one morning we did want to have breakfast, the cook was in town. There was also no water at all one morning. The double bed in our chalet was broken. This was reported to the cleaner, but nothing was done about it. This resort is ideal for people who only fish and do not have children.

Only aspects that disappointed me were: 1) No air conditioner, a must on a hot day and evening. 2) No TV, things get very boring if it rains in the day or night, can still fish if the weather is nice. 3) The price is not cheap, expect at least the above. Also very nice.

We had a wonderful stay!
We stayed in house pofadder. Dirty bedding. Found dead mouse in kitchen. Kitchen cupboards stink Toilet seat is broken. Room door cannot close. Floors were dirty. The price does not justify the place. Very expensive for what you get. But the other houses by the river look nice and in better condition and the river itself is very beautiful.
Perfect location right on the river. We had a lovely stay in the Likkewaan chalet and can recommend it for a family. However, the loft is very warm with little air flowing. The living room downstairs can also do with better lighting. No TV and we enjoy reading, but struggled in the evening with too little light. The large veranda overlooking the river is a bonus.

The long weekend at The Dell was peaceful and enjoyable. The hiking trails were well marked and a good experience. The videos on the web page that show what the units look like do not completely match what is in the specific unit. The units are very nice, but the boiler was dirty when we got there. One day cleaners didn't show up to clean the unit and the one day they did come they didn't throw out the trash. The units are very close to each other - so if the neighbors turn on or stir their taps you can't help but wake up and get up.
Will book with them again anytime, especially the Klipspringer accommodation. Everything you need, calm and quiet and the cutest guests (ostriches) who come to say hello throughout the day.
It was a great experience to stay at The Dell. Friendly staff and beautiful housing. The buildings and grounds are well maintained. Quite a few animals moving through the houses to the river. Will definitely go back again.
We stayed in Loerie. Our host was very helpful and friendly. Even though we checked in late at night, he met us at the reception and accompanied us to the cottage. On arrival there was a distressed drain smell in the cottage which dampened our excitement. We reported it the next day and they would have attended to it. Other than that it was a pleasant place to stay.
My friend and I really enjoyed our visit to The Dell. It was a surprise to know such a cute place is so close to our hometown. We were kindly received and stayed at Likkewaan. The place was clean and tidy and had everything we needed. With the river barely 20 meters away, we watched birds and just sat and relaxed. We also walked to some of the other places and all the cottages we could see were beautifully equipped and very cute. There were plenty of blankets, the bathroom was well equipped. I would suggest that extra loose lamps be placed in the lounge - lighting was not adequate, which made reading a bit difficult at night. Otherwise lovely. Thank you. Will definitely go again.

Was received very kindly, only problem is one can get a little confused with the steps around the bed if you get up during the night and it is dark, but otherwise I can really recommend this place. It was very warm and humid, we struggled to sleep. The fan in the chalet is not good enough. Aircon should be considered, please. The place is neat and clean. The staff are very friendly and helpful. I enjoyed the weekend and will definitely recommend this place.

Accommodation is "spotless". Everything you need for a nice quiet weekend. They are very helpful and are there within minutes if you need anything. Nice quiet place to fish. It was nice to be private. Was very cold but there was a small bladder heater which helped. Everything is neat and new and everything works.
The reserve itself is beautiful and the riverside location is a great escape from the city. Just a few comments: We were in the Klipspringer Chalet, where we had a 10 liter geyser that did not provide enough hot water for one shower. The linen was also not sufficient - there was no duvet, only an old woolen blanket and a blanket, which is unhygienic. At R1000 per night we expected more, and the unit costs the same as the other luxury units.
The people are incredibly friendly. The place is indescribably beautiful. Even in July, the warm fireplace was a big plus, as were the electric sheets. The animal life, birdsong and variety is incredible.
We enjoyed it so much, the fireplace was so nice and warmed the room. The staff is very friendly. It's very beautiful and the ostriches walk around in front of your porch!
It's very quiet and peaceful. The Vaal Dam is also beautiful. We wish we could've seen more animals, but the 2 ostriches were very nice. The only negative was the gravel road. We didn't realise a normal car would have trouble on the road. Wish we could have stayed longer!

Such a warm welcome at reception. The directions were correct and we didn't have any problems finding the place. Clean and neat.
If you would like to get away from everyday noise, this is not the place for you. It's different people's rock-hard music across the water and reverberates so badly that there is no silence until those people first go to sleep. Then again, our unit was opposite another unit building. The people next door didn't check in until 01:00 in the morning and you can hear everything that goes on inside the unit next door. I should have gone and silenced them and I'm just glad my child wasn't along and his ears didn't hear certain things! Furthermore, it is nice and tidy there and I think the animals that roam around there are very cute, like the ostriches that came to say hello early in the morning.
Will recommend to friends and family. Nature beautiful quiet environment. Clean and tidy grounds. Friendly and prompt service. Will definitely come back to relax.

The stay was nice. Can only improve the shower's water pressure by changing the shower head at Piet my wife. The balcony's chimney must also be fixed so that one can barbecue with wood.
We were kindly welcomed by the host and he provides excellent service. It's a lovely place to switch off, because it's a long way from town. The dirt road there is not very nice and persons with low vehicles must drive carefully. The Dell may also consider hanging a mirror in the room to easily blow dry hair and apply makeup. There is also no shower. Overall we had a nice stay and would go there again. The springboks and other game on the farm are also a bonus. Thank you very much!

A resort where the silence and tranquility of the beautiful nature is the ideal place to recharge your batteries. It's a clean, tidy self-catering resort with well-maintained accommodation and friendly service. Caution on the dirt road to the resort is necessary for cars with low ground clearance due to the good rains this season. The resort will definitely see me again.

It's been a lovely few days at The Dell. We were pleasantly surprised with the accommodation and facilities. Als was very neat and clean, and we had a fantastic view. The kitchen had everything we needed, very complete. The service we received was very friendly and tidy. They went out of their way to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The nature and silence was a nice treat. Some of the animals walked right in front of the porch. We will definitely visit there again!

It was probably the best time we ever spent at The Dell. Total privacy, excellent service and friendliness. We enjoyed our days out fishing right at our Osprey cottage and grilling together the tame bushbuck and ostrich. Wish we could go every weekend!
Pity that the 2 single bed mattresses of which the king-size bed exist should've been thrown away a long time ago. 2 nights was long to sleep like that. I would like to see that it is mentioned somewhere that the gravel road is in a poor state - not suitable for any vehicle. Was happy to be so close to the water though.

It rained a lot during our stay and the level of the water rose remarkably. Our unit (Visarend) was closest to the water, so it was interesting to see, but quite scary too!

Facilities, staff, and location are very good. The fact that they have a green (solar power etc.) approach is a big plus. The camping area is right next to the chalets. A bit bothersome when the campers listen to music until late at night, otherwise everything was 100%.

The photos and the reality are not the same. We were placed next to a campsite with loud music. We wanted to have a quiet weekend.
Well looked after place, the only thing that wasn't nice was that it was bitterly cold and that there was no aircon. Will think twice before booking there again in the winter, but I will definitely return. The owner and his wife are very helpful and also went to a lot of trouble for us.

Children enjoyed the open fields and was able to ride their bikes. The bucks and ostriches also paid us a visit. We stayed in Pofadder, a spacious unit. Recommend comfy couches in front of the fireplace, as the current one's are hard and uncomfortable.

We stayed in Viserand, everything was incredibly neat and well furnished. The view over the Vaal River was fantastic, and we had a great time relaxing. It is the perfect "break away" for city people, just to breathe again and enjoy nature. The "shop" is a bit expensive, so take everything you need with you. Will definitely always recommend "The Dell". We are regular visitors there.

There is a large ventilation hole where the flies come in during the day and the bats come in at night. Not a good night's rest.
We always enjoy going to The Dell, my husband really enjoys the fishing and the private deck is a big plus for us. The Hartbeestent is comfortable, and has everything we need.

We had a great time at The Dell. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. The atmosphere so close to the water is peaceful. I suggest that the kitchen and kitchen utensils be renovated.
The living facilities are nice and clean and the reception friendly. They are always available to help. It is wonderfully quiet and peaceful. Especially liked the "personal" deck on the river. Not too far from where we live, so it's the perfect weekend getaway.
Compared to the other accommodation options, I think the Old Homestead is not as tastefully/newly furnished. Will definitely visit The Dell again but in one of the other rooms.

Klipspringer chalet's kitchen and bathroom are very small. But would recommend The Dell. Nice and quiet and beautiful views of the river. The goats, pig and ostriches that come to visit your cottage are definitely a highlight.

The venue is probably better suited for a larger group. We were there for only 2 nights, Saturday and Sunday, and were disappointed to discover our unit was not serviced on a Sunday. Nobody told us. Also, hiking was at an extra charge. We enquired on the Saturday, but then when we arrived early on Sunday to hike, we could not due to hunting in the area. Nobody told us that the day before. The unit is nice and cosy and has great river views, a bit cold in winter to braai down at the river.
What a fantastic place. Upon our arrival we were received like family. You just feel at home when you stop there. There is everything you need to make your stay as comfortable as possible. I love the fireplace in the living room where you can make a fire. The braai on the stoep is enclosed so you can braai even if it rains. We did a Nature Drive as well as a Couples Drive. It was breathtaking, our gamekeeper/guide Kyle's experience and knowledge is fantastic. We not only saw wildlife, but also learned a lot about certain types of plants that are edible.

This is extremely weak. We didn't even sleep there. Drive immediately. Furniture in the photos and in the chalets is different. Something was dead and rotting in the chalet, one could not breathe. Awful place.
Would definitely recommend The Dell! Looking forward to going again.

It was incredibly fun, the service is excellent, we really enjoyed the tranquility and the trip to the lookout point was awesome, as was the picnic.

What a great weekend experience! Everything is painfully neat, beautiful nature and location. The animals are sweetly tame and the goats eat right out of your hand. The staff/owners are particularly helpful and attentive. Our friends who were there were very positively surprised and will definitely go there again.

The gnats and mosquitoes are quite a nuisance, but the view over the river is beautiful and the visits from the goats, ostriches, sheep and piglet were special. We will definitely be relaxing at The Dell again.
The Dell is one incredible place. We enjoyed our time there so much. Barbeque along the Vaal River on your own private jetty and relax deliciously while the meat chats on the coals. The game is very tame and simply braai together in the evenings. The unit is comfortable and clean, you just feel part of nature when you sleep in the Wildebees tent chalet. I have already recommended many people to rest there.
The staff are very friendly and this is truly one of the few place that look and feel like you expected after seeing the pictures. Thanks for a relaxing weekend

If you are looking for peace and quiet, this is the place to go. No TV in the chalet, no loud music, you can do some fishing. Absolutely surrounded by only nature. Had a lovely rest.
