Amazing roomy house with everything you need to live for a couple of days or weeks. Lovely plot with lots of birds and a very friendly hostess. The house has 2 bedrooms and all the amazing things one needs to relax and really enjoy the Drakensberg while traveling around to stalls, farms and entertainment. Very safe and incredible views of the berg. We really loved the stay and could unwind from the pace of life here.
The furniture was slightly uncomfortable and cramped. We had to request dishcloths and a few other items that were promised.
We had a wonderful 3 day stay. The cottage has all the home comforts and we never needed for anything. The location is perfect, close to excellent hiking trails, restaurants and other activities. I Highly recommend Goodland cottages. Thanks Maryke and staff for making us feel so welcome.

The cottage was in an immaculate condition. Neat, tidy, modern and comfortable. Everything you need is there and more. It has all the necessary utensils, even a Nespresso machine (big win!) and the attention to detail was amazing. We stayed there over a Mother's Day weekend, took our 1-year old along, which was no problem, Maryke even offered to lend us a camping cot. The best was the little Ferrero-Rocher gift Maryke left for Mother's Day - that really showed attention to detail, thank you Maryke! It was very easy to get there (approx. 1 - 2km of bad road though). Maryke was very welcoming and friendly. Would definitely stay there again. Big big thumbs up! It was exactly how the pictures showed, and the view of the mountains from the bedroom was amazing. The bed was also very comfortable, with a very cosy duvet.

One of our father and son stops was golf at Champagne Sports resort. Wanted a self-catering country feel. It was just what we wanted. Close to the golf course and restaurants and perfect for a lekker braai.

The place is located in just the right place. Close to all the shops and activities you want to be at. The houses are clean, comfortable, tidy and safe. Maryke and her team make you feel comfortable and you have everything you need.
A beautiful self-catered stay with everything you would need and want from a stay in the Drakensberg: A beautiful panoramic view of the mountain; 20-minute drive to Cathkin Park for hikes; a pool for hot days; Chromecast and internet for rainy stay-in days; comfy beds; a well-equipped kitchen for cooking and cleaning (including a counter-top dishwasher); peace and quiet; a warm welcome from the hosts and their dogs. Glad we found this place and will definitely be back again.
The cottage has everything you need (except braai tongs) for a comfortable, safe stay and is well located for berg activities. Besides someone directing us to our cottage, we did not get to meet the owners or have any explanation for their absence. If you are elderly or have hip problems the bed is very high.
The cottages are on a large property with friendly dogs, the host met us and guided us to a few things we might have wanted to do. Our kids made use of the pool which was crazy, as it is August. We were warm and cosy inside and left happy and relaxed.

Cottage 1 is very neat, nice and spacious, nicely furnished and has everything you need for a pleasant stay. The cottage has nice large windows and a place to hang out outside with a view of the mountain. We really enjoyed our stay there.

Our stay at Goodland cottages was absolutely blissful! We stayed in the Milk cottage. It is a very well equipped cottage with everything you can think of. The interior is lovely, it makes the cottage homely and warm. The bedding is crisp, everything is spotless. The extra treats like fresh farm eggs are a bonus. There are cupboards full of games and puzzles, a TV and the WiFi is excellent. The view from the porch over the mountains, the huge garden with big trees and yard chickens brings great peace to your mind. The presence of the dogs, Ellie and Peanut, increased the enjoyment of visiting Goodland Cottages' site. Maryke is a wonderful hostess. We would like to thank her and her team for an exceptional stay with them. You have met every one of our expectations. We will definitely return to Goodland Cottages again!

We stayed at The Goodland Cottages for the long weekend in March 2021, celebrating my Mother’s 60th birthday. From the moment we saw it on the website, we fell in love, but what waited for us, was so much more than we could ever expected! These cottages are everything and more as shown on the website. It is peaceful, beautiful and it leaves you in awe of God’s creation. The cottages are fully equipped, with more utensils, appliances, and extra add-ons than a normal self-catering cottage, or even home. They truly thought of everything! Whatever you can think of or think you would need, they have it. The interior is absolutely beautiful! A modern-rustic feel. It is thought through and practical, combining clean, open spaces, with natural elements and earthy tones. It’s simple yet has so much character! The views are incredible, and there are multiple places where you can enjoy a cup of coffee or a glass of wine to experience the beautiful Drakensberg. The staff was friendly and extremely helpful, and there were personal touches added to the cottage to celebrate my mother’s birthday. We were greeted with the three most amazing dogs, Ellie, Peanut and Frikkie, and we became so attached to them over the weekend. They just made it feel like a home, so joyful and so excited! This place is a sanctuary, a true experience for all your senses, a place where you go to appreciate life, nature, family and friends, where you rest, but also enjoy your surroundings, feeling at peace and content! It’s a place that feels too-good-to-be-true!

The house was very neat and well equipped. Since there are only two cottages on the site (as well as the owners' house), it was very peaceful, something that people who are tired of the hustle and bustle of the city really need. We could relax wonderfully. Maryke is a very friendly hostess and her team very efficient. We also really enjoyed Ellie, the Labrador. If we were to holiday in that area again, Goodland Cottages would be our first choice.
Honey Cottage is full of character with a beautiful wood-panelled interior. The kitchen was well-appointed with all implements I needed (even sharp knives). The owners were friendly and welcoming. They left us to our own privacy, but we felt like they were ready to assist at a moment's notice. The location of the cottage is an ideal base for exploring Champagne Valley, being close to Bell Park Dam (best viewed at sunset) and down the road from the Drakensberg boys’ choir. Keep driving toward the mountain and you’ll find Monk's Cowl reserve, a UNESCO world heritage site with some of the best day hikes the berg has to offer.

After a very warm welcome from the friendliest owner, Maryke, we were so in love with the Honey Cottage when we walked in. The location is perfect on a large, peaceful lot with lovely trees and views, just far enough from attractions. The cottage was cosy, tidy, stylish and comfortable. Plenty of wood for the fireplace is provided and everything you need. We will come back again anytime!
Because we travel with our small sausage dog, we prefer self-catering accommodation. In our golden years, we can travel more often these days and have thus come to stay from good to bad. Pictures on ads don't always tell the right story. In the case of The Goodland, you get more than you see and money can't buy. Maryke kindly welcomed us, the Milk Cottage's doors and windows were open and there were no odours of any kind in the house. Everything was extremely neat, extra soaps in the bathrooms and even in the kitchen. More than enough pots, pans and cutlery in the kitchen. Heaters in all rooms. In short ─ the owners make sure guests are at ease. Our puppy could safely explore the garden. Too many to mention. Thanks so much Maryke, we will be back with our daughter next year.
The accommodation was a bit expensive for a self-catering unit, but the place had very nice decor and was well-equipped. Is very safe and we could come and go as we please. The Goodland Cottage is well situated so you are not too far from town and not too far from the mountain.
Ons was gaande oor die plek! Alles was perfek. Vriendelikste eienaar denkbaar. Goodlands is op 'n tipe van kleinhoewe geleë, klein entjie van Winterton. Die omgewing en natuur is so pragtig - 'n beter plek sal jy nie kry nie. Dit voel of jy op die Drakensberge se stoep sit. Daar is soveel om te doen en sien in die omgewing. Ons was net 3 dae daar, maar sal weer gaan, maar dan vir 'n langer tyd. Ons wag net tot Kaanan klaar gebou is.
Lovely, fully equipped cottage with farm atmosphere. Very nicely centrally located to explore the part of the Drakensberg - close to shops, home industries, eateries, boys' choir, bird of prey centre, wineries and reptile park as well as adventure activities. Very hospitable and owner goes out of her way to make sure you have everything you need. Our dog children were welcome and really enjoyed snooping around. 10 out of 10.
