Was very nice and peaceful.
Spectacular! The Hanging Garden is peaceful and beautiful. The hosts are excellent, and their attention to detail is amazing. All the little touches made our stay perfect. From hiking to swimming to lounging on the deck, we loved our stay and we cannot wait to be back.
It was amazing, exactly like it was on the pictures. Clean, neat and perfect for our family weekend. The kids loved the pool and we enjoyed our braai. We had absolutely no network, so be prepared for that, but they have a radio for you to reach the host if you need anything.
Our hosts were helpful and friendly when we needed advice. The property is not very large, but the two hiking trails are beautifully laid out. The accommodation is charming and has a lovely view. It is a peaceful place, ideal for a long weekend. Reception is bad, so you won't be on your cell phone. There is a walkie-talkie in the kitchen if you need to get hold of your hosts, which is very reassuring. The property feels very safe and secluded. We do recommend coming in a 4x4 as not only is the road to the resort a dirt road, but also most of the roads in the area.
Perfect bush getaway. Clean and well-equipped chalet. Peaceful and private location. The morning hike to the river was one of our highlights.

We appreciate the information provided to us to go prepared. We went in the heart of winter. Not slept cold or showered. Was well equipped to make food. Is beautifully situated and the walking route is beautiful and safe and a child's dream. Silence is delicious. No road traffic is audible.

Perfect weekend getaway! The unit is very private, neat and clean. The stars in the evening are something to experience! The splash pool is nice to cool off in and the hiking trails were very nice.
It's an incredible, peaceful place where you can just relax. Great hiking trails. The house was sparkling clean with all the equipment one needs. A pre-packaged wood fire that you can just light and ice in the fridge was a pleasant surprise. Karen's communication is outstanding and no question was too much. She bent over backwards to accommodate us.

It was the most incredible place with the most beautiful view and the silence is indescribable. Real peace and quiet and privacy. Karen is incredibly hospitable and everything is just perfect. There is absolutely nothing missing. You will see us again for sure.
The trees around the house are marked and it is very interesting, the walking route to the river was just as beautiful and easy. There are many birds, make sure you take your book with you to identify! Sorry we couldn't see the stars. It was cloudy. We will definitely go back in the summer to be able to use the splash pool as well. Karen was very friendly and always made sure everything was ok with us.

It felt like we had found a hidden paradise! The farm is beautiful and the chalet was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. It is the ideal place to escape from the city and let nature revive you!

Beautiful and very neat place in nature. If you want to have a peaceful breakaway from your daily grind, this is the place to go. Although we managed to get there and back in a car, I recommend you go with a SUV or bakkie with higher ground clearance.

I would highly recommend The Hanging Garden for getting away from the City. It is well equipped, and Karen and Troy made sure that we have everything that we needed. They are exceptional hosts and very caring. The chalet is small, but there is an excellent braai area, patio and a small swimming pool for the warm days. We were four people, and we had a fantastic time. Highly recommendable.

We had a great time at Hanging Gardens. The place was incredibly clean and everything you need was available. View very nice and hiking trails very nicely laid out with trees that are marked. Will visit there again. It's the place to be if you're visiting Groot Marico!
The accommodation is practical, very clean and tidy. We would really recommend it to those who want to escape from the city for some peace and quiet. One soon adapts to the solar/gas facilities. The guests who like to get up early may want to bring along an LED light for those mornings that take longer to turn on lights. Guests staying longer than 4 days may need to bring a mobile freezer as fridge does not have a freezer compartment.
This was our second time at The hanging garden bushveld Eco-retreat and was once again warmly welcomed by Karen, she was very helpful from the time we arrived until our last day. The tranquility of the place is food for the soul and you really rest well, we would definitely recommend the place again and will also relax there again in the future.

There is nothing like waking up in the Groot Marico bushveld. All the elements (no noise, the bushveld, river, birding, short hiking trails) made it a very relaxing stay and recharged our batteries.

Very nice well appointed, environmentally friendly house, very private and well located in a very nice part of the Marico Bosveld. If you want body and mind to meet again this is the place. The splash pool is well located on the stoep and cools off the bushveld heat. However, people should note that the access roads are not really suitable for a regular sedan. The facility is highly recommended.

The accommodation is very neat. The Bushveld and its surroundings, coupled with the unit that offers a lot of privacy, make for an incredible getaway and rest.
Our visit to The Hanging Garden has certainly been a highlight of all our tours locally as well as internationally. Karen and Troy are natural experts. This gem near Groot Marico is great. We never go back to a place twice, as there just is not enough time to go through our wish list. However, The Hanging Garden will see us often.

The perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city. We spent a weekend at the place as a family, very neat and quiet place. The owners made us feel welcome and everything we needed was there or was provided, I would only recommend having detached fans in the rooms, because Groot Marico gets pretty hot. In general, we cannot complain at all, the tranquillity of nature around you is definitely therapeutic and one can rest. I would definitely recommend the place.

I booked this weekend away to propose to my boyfriend. We even arrived to find a bottle of champagne with two crystal glasses in the fridge. Such a thoughtful gesture. Lovely chalet, clean and neat with everything laid out in such a delightful manner. Very personal and special, I loved it. Ps. he said yes.
The chalet is really very nice and well equipped. The environment is very peaceful and quiet, as I prefer it, although the access roads are in very poor condition. Due to the cloudy weather, availability of electricity was a problem because the chalet uses solar power and batteries. I believe that safety can be improved.

Tranquility, beautiful sunsets, seclusion, barbecue on the fire, a glass of wine or two, lovely accommodation with everything you will need for the weekend if that is what you are looking for. This is the place! You don't want to get back in the vehicle to explore the area, instead hang out all day in the "splash pool" and pour another glass of wine. It is a lovely place, with good company or just a good book. Karen and Troy, you are so blessed to wake up here everyday. I have to say that the vision you had to build such a lovely place in the forest was incredible! Grateful!

The house is incredibly beautiful, very nice bedding, furniture and accessories. Felt so welcome with the flowers in the house, delicious creams, soaps and mugs of milk in the fridge. Beautiful scenery. was never disturbed the whole weekend. huge container of ice in the fridge, just right for the glass of wine after the rocky road, but at least not too far. Several packs of wood put down. Most beautiful "splash pool" I spent the whole weekend in. Many thanks also for good service and to Karen, wow, you are lucky to have such a beautiful place.
Amazing place to stay in the "Groot Marico Bosveld", most beautiful view and sunset. Elegantly furnished. You will definitely miss out if you don't visit this amazing cottage.
Very neat place to stay. The silence, surroundings and beautiful sunsets over the Marico woodland are absolutely fantastic. Beautiful walking trails, all native trees are identified with name tags on them. It was a very nice three days we spent here. We will definitely go again.

Please note that there is an 8 km sand/gravel road leading to The Hanging Garden. It is suggested that guests should make use of any type of high clearance vehicles (bakkie, SUV, 4x4 vehicle etc.) when travelling on the Marico roads, however, sedan-type vehicles will manage at a slow pace to reach the bushveld farm retreat.Cellular network quality in the general Marico area varies or is intermittent, depending on the performance of local cellular network towers. Our guests are encouraged to switch off all electrical devices during their stay and connect to & enjoy the splendid natural environment.
Guests are requested to bring swimming towels, torches, personal toiletries, extra blankets or throws if needed, binoculars, walking and/or mountain biking gear.
Rooms not used will be locked. An additional fee of R400 per night is charged by the establishment, if the use of extra facilities/bedroom, linen and amenities are requested as well as any extra guests to be accommodated.
The eco-chalet is powered by solar and gas only. Solar power is dependent on weather conditions and user management. Please take note The Hanging Garden is part of the Marico Biosphere Reserve which supports the Dark Sky Reserve Association thus power supply will be provided daily from 08:00 until 22:00. Guests are encouraged to switch off all electrical devices after 22:00 and enjoy the starry Marico night sky. The specialized Bosch fridge has a storage time of up to 19 hours without power. Please note there is no freezer. In the event of low power availability, the generator backup system may be utilized.

Additional wood and ice can be purchased per bag from management. Amenities provided to guests include hand and body soaps, dishwashing liquid, scourers, lanterns, matches, a complimentary stack of wood, and a complimentary supply of ice, tea, coffee, sugar, and milk.
Regrettably, no pets, quad-bikes, motorbikes or loud music are allowed as this is a private and tranquil Eco-Retreat.
