This cottage is suited to accommodate 5 guests and comes equipped with 2 bedrooms both equipped with en-suite bathrooms fitted with showers. Bedroom 1 features a queen-size bed and bedroom 2 features 2 single beds.
The well appointed fully equipped kitchen has cooking facilities to awaken your culinary skills. There is also a cosy log fire to keep guests warm in the misty weather. Paraplegic facilities offer complete access throughout the cottage, onto the deck and braai area and outside shower. There are no stairs and the bathroom is fitted with convenient handles for your safety.
You can relax in the plunge pool on the veranda. A lock-up carport is available as well as a digital safe. As this is a working farm where avocados and herbs are produced there is fresh produce available during the season, and a glass shop where you can buy glasswork or macadamia products to take home. There is a lovely walk down the river which starts from the cottage, and other walks around the farm which offer lovely views of the mountains.
The Woodbush forest is nearby which is the second biggest indigenous forest in South Africa. Lekgalameetse Nature reserve is also nearby where rare birds, an abundance of butterflies and lots of walking is a must - and it’s a good place for a picnic.

Very nice peaceful place. Beautiful scenery.
Our family really enjoyed our time at The Herb Cottage. From the walks along the stream to the walks through the farm. We also had a nice barbecue by the pool. The children enjoyed the games and we had a very blessed time as a family.
We stayed six nights in the cottage and loved every day and night. The winter days were mild so we enjoyed walking on the farm but also short trips to Heimitzburg and good coffee and food on the R41 nearby. The cottage was very clean, roomy, well equipped and had a fine stoep.
Als was great.
Can't wait to visit again.
The Herb Cottage is hidden deep in the woods. It was warm and the cold pool was heavenly. Near the cottage was also a river that could be heard all the time. In the evenings we had a nice barbecue and during the day visited the glass studio. The owners were friendly and everything was neat and beautiful. We will definitely visit The Herb Cottage again!
Quiet, hear the water running all the time.
This 2 bed and 2 bathroom cottage with own splash pool is a gem on a working farm. The owners are available at any time yet consideration to our privacy was present during our stay. This spacious, pristine, bright cottage with attention to detail (as Ralph is a cabinet maker and Espeth an artist) has all the comforts anyone can ask for. We bought lovely glassware from The Glass Studio adjacent to the avo packhouse. Highly recommended.
The Herb Cottage is an excellent getaway.
The Herb Cottage is very well looked after and all the basic necessities are there. Fresh flowers in the dining room and rooms were beautiful, pool was a treat. An evening with candles on the porch and a soft lamp and a fire was wonderful. One can touch the stars there. The cottage is private. The bath with open doors was lovely and very romantic. The host and hostess were courteous and our request for a late check out was no problem.
Not often am I so impressed with a place! This cottage is in an absolutely stunning setting, but more than that, the cottage itself is stunningly decorated, clean and caters for every need. They even have a spice rack in the kitchen stocked with spices! We will definitely be back!

The area is indescribably beautiful, even in winter! The accommodation was comfortable, neat and clean. We plan to go back to it every year!

Beautiful place. Everything a child needs is there. Entertainment such as games, puzzles, books and magazines. There was even an umbrella in case it rained! Kitchen was well equipped. Comfortable furniture and beds. Two beautiful spacious bathrooms and bedrooms. We had no internet signal but after a day or two you get used to it. Beautiful glassware at the Glass Studio.
Very pleasant stay at this jewel of silence and wonderful contact with nature. It's worth staying more than one night to fully unwind and recharge after the hustle and bustle of the city.

It so often happens that you form a picture in your mind based on the photos of how it will look at a certain place and then you're disappointed when you arrive. Herb Cottage is the biggest exception to this rule that I have ever experienced. When you open the front door of Herb Cottage you enter a sort of fantasy world. The spacious cottage is very tastefully furnished. Everything you think you might need is there. The indigenous forest, the constant rush of the river as well as the walking trail next to the river is very very special. If there is one place we will return to time and time again it is this cottage.
Had an incredibly nice time, beautiful nature, peaceful atmosphere, owners are exceptionally friendly and hospitable. Décor of the cottage is stylish and beautiful, everything is working condition and the kitchen is extraodinarily well equipped.

Quiet accommodation in a fully equipped unit with a lovely view. The accommodation was clean and tidy with good quality crockery and bedding. Everything needed is there. The steep winding path from the R71 to this modern fairy house is the only slightly negative aspect. Not that it will put us off coming again! The place is neat, clean and has comfortable beds. Spacious, very well equipped, with a great stove and fireplace. Outside next to the swimming pool are braai facilities, 2 'sun loungers' where you can lie down and read your book. There is also an outdoor shower. If you want to take Max or one of the other friendly dogs to go exploring with you among the avocado groves or down the river, there are even leashes, rubber boots in a variation of numbers available if needed . It was late at night before I realized that there was no television - but there was no need for it. There is a wide variety of games available for use to take you back to the days when families still sat around the table and spent quality time together. Elspeth and Ralph are more than happy to provide the fresh herbs they grow to help you prepare festive meals in the wonderful kitchen. Avocados, macadamias and herbs are on sale to take home and there are also wonderful glass plates and decorations made by Elspeth available to buy. We were very sad to return to Gauteng, but we will return for sure! Something I would recommend doing while in the area is the Magoebaskloof Canopy Tour. An experience of a lifetime! The Coral Tree camp is in an incredibly beautiful area. The view is breathtaking and facilities are excellent. We enjoyed every moment and would recommend the campsite to anyone who likes "glamping". We were received very kindly.

We arrived on a wet rainy day after a long and hard 2014 and we were dull and tired. After the 10th day we were fresh and ready for 2015. The days at the Herb Cottage can be summed up as follows: Lazy and quiet mornings that are filled later in the day with sounds and sounds of birds and monkeys. We enjoyed reading, swimming and cooking... Herb-Cottage is dreamy destination of peace and tranquility and a real gem. The cottage is beautifully appointed with all the luxury amenities of your own home. Soft white linen, lovely beds and fresh herbs and flowers...We miss the river, the lots of green, the calm...the silence! The owners, Ralph and Elspeth some of the friendliest and most hospitable people ever... and ready for any request. The Herb Cottage is precious.
The facility offers much more than it advertises. Excellent accommodation, privacy, picturesque surroundings and above average equipment and appliances (such as a dishwasher) are part of the package. I would recommend it to anyone. The only negative aspect is the access road - it's recommended that you have a vehicle with good ground clearance to reach your destination carefree.
The view of the forest and swimming pool takes your breath away upon arrival. Lovely open plan kitchen and living area with a fireplace. The owner left us fresh herbs from her garden in the kitchen and we made delicious food with them. Looking forward to next time!
Everything was perfect. First class accommodation and good value for money. An incredibly beautiful environment.
We would recommend it to anyone looking for peace and nature. We had so much fun walking through the forest with the rivers and waterfalls and animals. If you haven't been there, you won't understand what we mean. The service was excellent, also from LekkeSlaap!
The Herb Cottage is highly recommended for a break away in beautiful, safe surroundings with generous hospitality from the owners. The accommodation is luxurious with a sense of space found in few other places.
