The Homestead is an exclusive guest house located in the beautiful seaside town of Margate at the borderline of Ramsgate.

From most of the rooms, guests have a great sea- and breaker view. Each room can accommodate up to 2 guests and features en-suite bathrooms. Other in-room facilities include air conditioning, a TV with DStv channels, a bar fridge, a microwave as well as tea- and coffee-making facilities.

There is a communal dining room, where guests can enjoy a full breakfast. A swimming pool is available for guests' use and secure parking is also provided.

The location offers easy access to beaches, shops and restaurants in the area.

It is quiet, has a tremendous breakfast, friendly staff and rooms are warm.

There was load shedding, but I was always aware of the times. There were also water outages, but the staff did their best to keep me up to date and there are water tanks on site.

The Homestead is situated in a nice place next to town and sea although we booked non sea view room we enjoyed every minute of our time and my boyfriend also loved it.

A fantastic view of the sea, with very spacious and clean rooms with friendly staff and a delicious big breakfast. The only two problems are the cushions for the chairs on the veranda are dirty and done and that's the reason we can only give 3 stars for cleanliness and the other problem is there are no decent easy chairs in the room (room 19) and therefore we only give 4 stars for value for money. The fences are low and we were not aware of any alarm system which is why we only give 3 stars for safety.

"It is just perfect everywhere!"

I visited the guesthouse with my fiance over the weekend and we were impressed. Our room was huge and neatly kept. There were no unpleasant surprises .The view is to die for! The breakfast was on point. I just have no regrets and would definitely recommend the guesthouse to anyone!

The location is perfect with the sea view. The service was great. The towels I would say should be washed often, didn't smell so good. I would suggest that the honeymoon suite's shower head get a bigger one. I will definitely go there again. It's a very very beautiful place that is very well managed.

The staff were very friendly and always helpful. Quiet place with a fantastic sea view. Would recommend Homestead anytime. The best part was you didn't hear the noise of Margate's town, which was a plus because on holidays the town was rough. As places to eat we would recommend the Blue Lagoon, Friar Tuck and the very best place, the La Capannina Restaurant. We got the very best food there. The only minus is you have to drive out to beaches that are not walking distance.

"Disgusted with the water situation, took 3 days to be able to take a shower."

I paid R700 a night for 1 person and didn't even have an airconditioner. This is Margate in December! I originally booked for 2 people, but had to cancel 1 person and was told the price stays the same even though they clearly have a single occupancy rate. The attitude towards the shower situation was terrible.

From arrival when Belinda and her assistant welcomed us to the point we departed, the hospitality was great. Breakfast was delicious so were the rooms. The view form the house is excellent and will definitely be going back there again.

Words can hardly describe how nice our stay at Homestead was. Everyone knew us by name and the management was with us every morning at breakfast. It really was a GUESTHOUSE in the truest sense. Every request we had was answered and even better: we even made new friends at Homestead. It exceeded all expectations! We are already planning our next vacation at Homestead and want to bring our family and friends this time! Thanks Homestead, we really rested and went back home refreshed.

All staff were friendly. Belinda contacted me on several occasions to check on my arrival time and so forth. The room was more than I expected. Gerty and Francois were great and also inviting me to have Christmas dinner with them was fantastic as I was alone. The dining area was nice and big and comfortable. The selection of food available for breakfast was great, short of nothing. The view is spectacular. One suggestion, they should try and put up shade netting for the guest that park outside. I will return to this fantastic guest house in the future.
