The Old Shop is a charming self-catering cottage that has been restored from the original farm shop of the 1930s to a cosy cottage filled with antiques and art. Situated on a farm in Schoemanskloof, conveniently close to the N4.

Although designed ideally for a single or a couple with a small child, this unit can accommodate up to 4 guests at a time and comprises 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. The first bedroom is furnished with a queen-size bed while the second interleading bedroom has a single bed. The shared bathroom is fitted with a shower, toilet, and washbasin. Linen and bath towels are provided. A long couch can be made up for a 4th person in the lounge.

The open-plan living area features a well-equipped kitchen that includes a 2-plate stove with mini-oven, toaster, kettle, cutlery, crockery, and fridge-freezer. Guests can enjoy a meal at the 4-seater dining table or relax on comfy chairs and a couch in the lounge with a cast-iron stove for warmth on chilly nights. Access to free Wi-Fi is available.

Outside, guests can enjoy a private garden fenced in with braai facilities. Guests are afforded covered carport for 1 car and are welcome to explore the rest of the 184ha farm, which has a number of walking trails in the mountains, with waterfalls and cascades in the 2 gorges and beautiful river frontage. Schoemanskloof is well-known for its birdlife, and the farm has over 100 indigenous tree species, as well as wild animals.
