The stay was very cosy, and the host was welcoming and friendly.
We were a family gathering for a long weekend. The house was perfectly big enough for us. The braai area and pool was a winner! The kitchen lacks some things to make good food, but we made a plan.
I agree. Negative: was a little disappointed in the room. Had deja-vu moment with our stay long back in Montmartre, Paris. Room smaller than expected, closet only a rail, no shelf, no place to hang towels in bathroom, no hand wash towel, entire bathroom floor gets wet when you take a shower, no toilet top cover, Wifi is non-existent. Furthermore, the address was wrong and we had to search back and forth. Apparently there are 2 White Giraffe places in Paris, one White Giraffe River Cottage and then the one where we were, far from the river. The address is on Fick Street near the river, we were on h/v West and Schlibach Street, very far from the river. No one bothered to let people know that the address is wrong and it creates a false illusion of where the accommodation is. It's something that needs to be corrected. The stepping stones must be relaid again because they are loose and unsafe, a tripping hazard. Positive: everything was nice and clean. Simon received us kindly. The stoepie is nice to visit and we had a good time "chilling" there. Bedding and towels were good. The place is value for R600/night, but again just needs some TLC. Bed slept well and despite the long "negative" list, had a good time there.

Simon was very friendly, and everything we needed was available. I feel the towels could be replaced, and the oven needs a good scrub. In spite of the load shedding which impacted on the availability of water, we had a good time.

The garden apartment is very comfortable and very well equipped for 2 people. We really enjoyed our stay and barbecued every night. It is close to the high street and all the shops. We will definitely go again.

The house is wonderfully spacious with everything you will need. All that happened was the advertisement showed the rooms had TVs, but upon arrival the owner explained to us that there were no more TVs in the rooms. I would also suggest maybe putting some multi-adapters in the rooms for recharging your phone or using your computer.
Only problem was fitted sheets on the bed that didn't fit em took off all the time while sleeping. Maybe new bedding. WiFi reception is very bad and should not be advertised.
White Giraffe was very comfortable - the garden is very beautiful and it's very private. Would say a few minor things bothered - no hand soap, shampoo or extra blankets available and the heater and WiFi didn't work (would have been a crisis for anyone). Otherwise it's a comfortable place to stay.

We really enjoyed our stay, we were very secluded and we enjoyed being separate from the main house, the outdoor kitchen can get chilly at night and would be ideal if it could be closed with the use of blinds to allow some warmth whilst either cooking or eating.
People staying in garden apartments are not allowed to use the guest house's swimming pool, but otherwise it was pleasant.
Accommodation needs to be cleaned. No soap or handtowel next to basin in bathroom. Dishcloths filthy. Room was dirty. Found old buns in microwave. Bedlamp has a short. Kitchen cupboard hinges broken. Ceiling fan not working.

The garden unit is clean and tidy. The outdoor kitchen is unique. Bed linen and towels are clean, but take your own soap and shampoo - they are not provided. Air conditioning would have been a bonus, but at least the roof fan helps.

The gas stove out of order, could not make any coffee. Small parking for a large car. Shower spills all over the bathroom floor.
Negative: No place to hang clothes or towels at shower, have to put clothes on ground and the lowest toilet south of the Sahara. House safe, but parking felt uneasy.
The accommodation was comfortable, tidy and surprisingly large. The pictures of the place are already impressive, but we were still surprised by how big it is. The owners are pleasant, but not terribly chatty. Prepare questions about WiFi etc. already before otherwise you will call them constantly (they are easy to get hold of and helpful). Just take two-point plugs or multi-point plugs together, some of the rooms' power points are difficult to use conveniently.

I would like to mention that the shower was not a pleasant experience. The shower head is not short person friendly.
The place was clean, neat and very quaint. Great for a short stopover with a partner. Peaceful and enjoyable.
Nobody bothered us. We had a nice quiet time and played music. I will definitely book the place again. All wrong was that there are no lights in the room or bedside lamps. The roof fan's light didn't work either and a new grill is needed for the braai. Other than that, everything was nice.

The White Giraffe is an exceptionally pleasant place to call home base while exploring the scenic town of Parys. Our host was also very accommodating.
The White Giraffe is a nicely appointed house with plenty of space - so a nice house for a group that wants to stay together. The garden is neat and the swimming pool is a big bonus to the house. The kitchen is also nicely furnished, although the stove and oven no longer work so well. The location is perfect, the neighborhood is quiet with the village and all the shops only a few minutes drive away. On our arrival, the reception was friendly and welcoming, but I have to say, on our last day, the maid was already in the house before we got up. We of course appreciate her service, it just felt a bit like we were being rushed (obviously it was just after 8 and check-out time is 10 o'clock). I say it felt that way, because we felt a bit in her way as we quickly wanted to have our last breakfast and because she started cleaning all the rooms even before our bags were out. But she was terribly kind and lovely, and really just someone who wants to do her job well. All and all it was a lovely place to stay, a home away from home for sure!
The accommodation was nice and close to Afridome. It was clean and tidy. The room is very small, as is the bathroom. We had a lot of trouble parking our cars. A bakkie is very difficult to fit in, more suitable for small cars. Room is very private and nice patio area.

The guesthouse is beautiful. I was there for a birthday party and I enjoyed it because my husband and I could get in and out of the guest house as we wanted without any pains.

Kitchen outside, but contains everything one needs. Bathroom tap was a challenge, it took some time to figure out how to close it. The parking is not suitable for cars that need space to turn, or for cars with a low clearance.

We enjoyed it very much, except that the microwave didn't work at all.
We stayed in the cottage which was adequate for the night's sleep. Everything was beautifully clean and met our basic needs. If I can criticise, I can say that the owner didn't expect us and didn't fix it. In the bathroom the shower did not have a shower head, which caused a lot of waste. Space in the room is also very limited. The location is in the residential area which is quite far from any shops or restaurants. Despite the points, we had a great night's sleep.
It's a really beautiful place, the bathroom of the cottage was just a bit cramped and can't fit more than one person in it. The only complaints I have are the following: 1. The Weber is broken and not convenient to grill with; 2. The owners' dogs are somewhat of a problem especially when they are not at home (incessant barking) and then this is also repeated as soon as the owners are home. People need to realize that not all people love dogs, and may find it distracting especially if you want to break away to rest.

Affordable accommodation does not necessarily have to be neglected. Previous complaints about the shower and ceiling fan have not been rectified. Shower unhygienic, no place to put soap and towel to hang as well as no shower curtain to prevent everything from getting wet. The rest was quite acceptable to overnight.

The garden room was perfect for us.
Neat and clean. An air conditioner/air-con would be an asset to the Garden Cottage. Shower head needs to be replaced as it falls on a person every time you shower. Since the water is heated by a gas geyser, it is quite a struggle to get the water to the right temperature. It would also be a good idea to place a small container of fresh milk in the fridge. Furthermore, it is a beautiful place and the outdoor kitchen is very cute and well equipped.

Due to the weather conditions, we could not make full use of the house. Would have liked to have a barbecue outside and swim in the beautiful blue pool, but unfortunately it rained too much and was very cold. We stayed at Giraffe because we were attending a wedding in Paris. We also had problems with our vehicle and Simon allowed us to stay after 10 hours which we really appreciated. I would only suggest that there would be fans in all the rooms, as well as that there would be lights outside by the pool area for the evenings. Thank you very much.

Rested and visited very well.
Advertisement a clear misrepresentation of what you get when you get there. This is misleading. The Garden cottage at The White Giraffe is incredibly small. Bathroom is totally impractical, almost the whole room gets wet when you shower. Shower head keeps falling off when showering. Floor was dirty under bedside tables (hair and dust), only 1 bedside lamp worked, so I can go on and on. We did not enjoy it at all and will definitely not go back there.
The White Giraffe offers very comfortable accommodation at affordable rates and ideal for a large group of people - would easily recommend to anyone. Very neat and clean.
Place was really lovely. Perfect location. Owner lovely and hospitable. Might just look at the fan. I think he's exhausted and it was really hot this weekend. So the fan would have been handy if it didn't shake around and make noise.
Very nice bed. Beautiful paintings and plates on walls. Mirrors are special. Open kitchen cupboards and sinks on the porch do not work, because dish towels and sponges for dishes are dirty. Table and chairs dirty, not dusted. Tea bags in uncovered (open) container unusable (lost flavor and dusty). In the bathroom there should be hooks for clothes and towels. Cabinets in bathroom too low and impractical. It must be fixed to the wall.

Worth staying there.
The streets of the neighbourhood where the guesthouse is located is spoiled by huge potholes. The garden flat is very small, but has all the necessities except soap. The kitchenette is on the patio so we couldn't properly use it due to the rain. The owner was very helpful. Parking is not undercover. We have of yet not received proof of payment from the owner despite numerous requests. The low price makes it a good option for those with a small budget.

The unit can sleep 8 people plus 2 more in adjoining apartment. The house is neat, spacious and as a bonus there is a beautiful swimming pool to cool off in. Good braai facilities - boma as well as a weber braai. We had a lovely weekend and can really recommend the White Giraffe for small or large groups who want to have fun together.

We travelled as a group of 2 couples and a single. The house is really spacious and private. We were very comfortable and thoroughly enjoyed our weekend stay. It is close the city and restaurants. The neighbourhood is perfectly quiet. I particularly loved the boma area and herbal garden and the birds singing in the morning. One thing that could be improved is the lighting around the boma area but besides that, perfect. Beautiful place!
When you go to Paris you just need a bed and bathroom. It is really nice with a patio, kitchen. Small room, but neat without too many frills and nice bathroom with shower. Will definitely book again. Ideal for my husband and I and also walking distance from the famous Bree Street.

We were 5 friends who had a reunion and the house was perfect for us. Lovely time around the fireplace and boma area.
It really wasn't a great stay. Our room's door couldn't lock at all. There is a water tank outside the main bedroom which goes on and off the whole time. The little mat in the bathroom does not look clean. It is situated at the end of town and the road is bad to the house. Not at all what I expected.

We had a nice stay in the garden flat and the kitchen on the stoep was very cute. The only problem was that the room doesn't have a window, so we kept the glass doors open at first, but then the mosquitoes came in and we didn't feel safe to sleep with the doors open and with the doors closed it was cramped and hot.

Although the room is very small, it is clean and tidy. There is a fridge and microwave in the room but the kettle is on a stove outside the room on the veranda as the room is too small to have it in as well. No air conditioning, just a ceiling fan. Perfectly adequate for one or two nights sleep, but far too small and cramped for longer.

I was under the impression it was a self-catering unit, the manager did not inform us that we could use the kitchen. The power plug was overloaded and didn't work properly, you had to turn off some of the devices or the power would cut out. The shower is impractical, when you shower the whole place is full of water, if the door is closed you cannot use the sink properly.
No what... you can't even change your mind. The bathroom is ridiculously small. Definitely just for one person. For sure not 2 persons, not even 2 small persons like us. Power supply is unsafe and inadequate. Couldn't even turn on the heater that was in the room. No table or chair to speak of. The TV channels are also definitely not watchable for any Afrikaans-speaking person! Put an old radio there instead. The reception is not too bad. Sorry, but it was just a disappointment. The "butler" or supervisor was also only there when we arrived, and was never seen again.
You'll see us again in summer - then we can have a dip in the pool! Dirty crockery - cups, glasses and pots.

We slept in the smaller room for 2. There is a larger family option at the pool. It is a bit cozy with little space for your bags, but therefore really nicely done and there is also a cute garden area especially for the 2 of you. It is a good option on a "road trip" but not necessarily for a longer stay. .
It was a nice place to stay and practical. I would just suggest that they put an air conditioner in the Garden Room for summer and winter. I will definitely stay there, because it is worth it to you.
This was truly an experience. Patsy was incredibly friendly and told us a little about the town because we had never been to Paris, she also directed us to the best places to eat and enjoy in the town. The place is very cute and very nicely laid out. The room was incredibly clean and of the highest quality. Would only recommend that they add a bar of soap or small shampoo for when you want to shower. The shower's hot/cold regulator was a bit of a struggle, but not a big problem. My honest opinion, if we visit Paris again we will definitely stay here again. The Photos of the White Giraffe to how amazing it is in reality do not match each other at all. It is a spacious residence. Beautiful pool and garden. The road there is slightly bad with many potholes. The facilities are sufficient. Parking can be a problem if there are more than 3 vehicles. Barbecue cozy and kitchen well equipped. Can definitely recommend it.
The room was clean and tidy but I think they forgot to sweep the floor. The faucet in the sink was spraying water in different directions - up the wall to the toilet etc. I stuck a band-aid around the leak so I could safely brush my teeth. The hot/cold water in the shower was a challenge, then you burn, then you freeze - no comfortable constant temperature.

I will suggest the owner supply a couple of heaters during winter months as the house is very cold inside. Other than that we had a fantastic stay.
Simon was very friendly and considerate. The White Giraffe is close to the Afri-dome which is ideal for us. It would be the ideal place to call home in the summer with the outside braai and pool area, but with the many tiles it is unfortunately freezing cold in the winter. Everything is very clean.
Had a great stay and will use you and White Giraffe again. We were kept informed of the problem with the water heater in the room allocated to us. When this was not rectified in time, we were moved to the house in Fick Street number 1 at no additional cost.
There are a few appliances missing in the kitchen, but the fire pit outside is very cozy ─ just bring enough wood!
Very comfortable and private accommodation, perfect for an overnight stay in Paris.
We really enjoyed it and would like to arrange such a quick getaway again.
It was an incredibly nice weekend. The stay was so nice. All problem was the one room which is close to the pump which goes on as soon as water is used. Dot makes quite a noise and some of the children had trouble sleeping. If only they could do something there. Other than that, it was very nice! Lovely weekend the accommodation is excellent it is quiet and close enough to all the attractions in Paris. Would recommend The White Giraffe to anyone. Thanks Simon!
It is a lovely spacious house where a group can enjoy a wonderful time together. Kitchen and needs more bowls and basic things like tin opener, peeler and bread knife. The house needs some attention. But we had a great time!
We had a very nice stay for the night we were there. Was worried that our baby's cry would wake up the neighborhood, but otherwise nothing is wrong. Will definitely come again.
We had a great time in Paris and it was nice to stay at the White Giraffe. The place is tidy, with lots of space, board games, DStv and a nice swimming pool.

Only issue was that some of the beds were not so good.
I do think there was a mis-booking as we booked and paid for the White Giraffe, but end up staying at the White Giraffe River Cottage. It was a little farther away from the Domearena, but we didn't mind, stuff like that happens. What we wanted was a safe, clean house, and we got more! Not one time did we feel unsafe, or unhappy. Thank you for the laundry room, you might want to add that in your ad. I will recommend you to anyone, and we will be back next time. Thanx Tia

The unit has 3 double rooms, 2 with en-suite bathrooms and a further separate bathroom. There is also a further bedroom with 2 single beds. The home comprises 1 en-suite, an extra double en-suite and 1 main bathroom, a lounge with DStv and a large dining area. The kitchen is fully equipped and the garden, with barbecue facilities, is well maintained and includes a swimming pool and boma/braai. The premises has a borehole with clean water so water outages are not a problem.
Room only accommodation is offered and there is a newly built double en-suite unit which is a separate unit and has a TV, and is also fully self catering, tea/coffee is provided, the room has it's own private garden with braai facilities and also it's own private parking.
Parys offers a range of activities based on the vast Vaal River and the surrounding stunning countryside. The town is renowned for its many stylish places to eat and drink and most will not hurt one's wallet. Nearby, there is also the renowned horse show arena and Golf Island which is a favourite among many.
