The room was clean, but the furniture and decor are old/worn. There is a strange smell in the house and room. The house is not located in a good area, it borders an industrial area. The very worst was that the owner kept her TV blaring all night long. My room was located right above hers, and the wooden floors are not soundproof at all. Pack your earplugs because trying to sleep like that was extremely unpleasant. Even after I took it up with her the first night, she continued. She has no respect for her guests' wish for silence throughout the night. No, better stay away.
Not what we expected, but the hosts were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was awesome.

Overall I will give it a 4/10. When we arrived just before 2: (1) They were still cleaning the room. (2) Matilda (host) greeted us in her pajamas and curlers in her hair, very unprofessional. (3) The mirror was broken. (4) There were bags hanging in the room with either the owner's contact or previous guests. The double bed was very neat and comfortable. But yes, the customer service was shocking. I sent the host a message at 07:21 on Tue 26 Sep, but there has been no response as of 29 Dec 14:22. If there was a chance to ask for a refund, I would have taken it.

We were very kindly received by Mathilda and were very pleasantly surprised with the luxury of our room. The garden is beautiful and is clearly very well looked after. The coffee, for me a very important item, is the best quality. We had a great time relaxing on the balcony and sat there talking until late at night. Mathilda can rightly be very proud of her property.

Stay was pleasant. Host friendly and professional. It may be an idea to mention in your overview that the accommodation is on the outskirts of town.

We will return soon during the festive holidays. The hostess is very friendly and really makes everything feel like it's in your own home. The only minor disappointment we had was that the bathrobes we requested were not in the room, but the champagne glasses were.

Well, the night we got home after 10 there was no hot water. By 9 o'clock the next morning when I asked there was an error. I understand. Just an inconvenience. TV didn't work either. But if you're just looking for a place to lay your head, it will work.
Great location and stay. Just the smell of smoke for non-smokers is a concern but all in all, very happy with Tilla who was very warm and friendly.
I did mention to the owner (mathilda) the google maps direction did not take us to the location. we had to call. It was also a late check-in but the owner checked up on us and made sure we were travelling well. We only stayed one night. but will definitely go back. Room is spacious and loadshedding didnt even effect us. they made provision. it felt like we came to visit family. it was really a pleasure at the Whitehouse.

Owner hands-on, friendly, good service, excellent breakfast, really enjoyed stay, keep it up. Location not bad either, felt safe.
It doesn't feel so private because you stay in the house itself, on the second floor. We prefer self-contained accommodation away from the owner/host. It is also (for us) strange and inconvenient that the room is completely open plan (even the toilet). The house also smells slightly of old smoke, which is bothersome to us as non-smokers. Otherwise, very neat inside with an "old timey/farmhouse" feel, the owner was very friendly and the garden is beautiful. We also really appreciated the light cooling and the night light for load shedding.
We were kindly received and the room was pleasant but the house smelled terribly of cigarette smoke as the owner smokes in her house. We would also have appreciated a kettle in the room.
Made us feel right at home. My family was very happy with the accommodation and the rooms were so comfortable and convenient for a family having 2 separate bathrooms. Will come back any time. Beautiful garden and very spacious rooms.

My granddaughter and I only stayed 1 night. Mathilde welcomed us with open arms and immediately made us feel at home. Our room was comfortable and neatly furnished, and close to a restaurant so we could eat out safely. We left the White House as a family. Will definitely stay there again.

Very friendly hostess.
The only challenge we had was the host smoking cigarettes and this filled the room. For a non-smoker this is problematic. If you're a non-smoker and don't mind being exposed to cigarette smoke, it is fine.

House smelled of cigarette smoke and owner smoked in the house while we were in upstairs section.
Close enough to town, attractions etc. The hostess, Mathilda was friendly and helpful. Lovely food at a fair price. She can light a candle at more established guesthouses. She pretty much spoiled us.
We were given privacy, but it was unclear where everything was and no explanation was given regarding the use of the kitchen.
